I have made several guards, but I have always used brass. Copper is so soft that it easily scratches after it's polished, and brass is a lot harder and holds up better. The upside is you can polish out dings and scratches a bit easier on copper. I've never done aluminum but may try that next.

Thank you, Pietro! Took me a long time to acquire the tools and fabrication some along the way.

The ending lol I’m here watching this after I’ve spent all day first time making a guard similar to that but from stainless steel and ended up not liking it 😂 and now here looking for new ideas lol

Very nice. You can also make a wax pattern and cast it since copper does not have a high melting point.

Hey Aloke! Thank you. I'm toying around with the idea of casting a one piece double guard for an upcoming fighting knife out of brass. Of course copper would be great too! Maybe I'll make a video of that build in the future. Thanks for watching!

I commend you on your decision to go with a different guard after all that effort!

Thank you, Bryson. Sometimes the initial vision doesn't always work out to plan. The first guard was just too small for such a big blade.

What is that jog you used on the side of the guard?
