I have the XT and noticed the same - when I run a water pan or anything on the bottom, I have to run 50-75 degrees higher on the controller to get actual temps I'm looking for (so I run at 300 to get 225 actual in the pit). Kind of a bummer and I hope MB fixes it. Love the XT otherwise.
Those ribs look outstanding Tommy that grill looks solid do you see any mods that are needed I’m curious with the changes they made how much it has improved performance well done cheers🍺👍🔥
Hey Tommy, I'm curious why Masterbuilt put those stainless steel racks "instead" of the CAST IRON? How do you like that? What do other people say about that?
Wow Tommy those ribs look so juicy and delicious. My mouth was getting watery from how fantastic those ribs looked. Great cook Tommy like always.👍🏽 Have a wonderful day and CHEERS!!!!
looks great, I bent a small grate i bought from lowes and placed it in the ash catcher and line up the wood and when the ash falls the hot it hits it directly and the ash falls thru.not my idea saw it on here. Please ride safe and have fun.And hug molly for me.
high temp kinda strange. my 560s never ran out with a water pan. my pit boss used to do that but it stopped. wildforks has amazing beef ribs for sure..
Great video as always! So to be clear regarding the temperature algorithm issue, are you saying that with the water pan on bottom grate, the actual real temp inside the pit was lower than the set temp on the controller? Or vice versa? Just a tad confused about that.
Ok because in your video you state that you should run your controller temp higher than desired temp, which contradicts what you just said, but i’ll definitely watch the review! Great job BTW!
@@gegarza So to be clear. Sometimes ill over shoot my temps on purpose to start the cook quicker. So if i'm smoking at 250f, I may start the pit at 325f and back it down. I like a hotter pit at first when the protein hits. If that makes sense.
Here in Yuma, Az, we go to Sam's Club, get the butchers attention, and ask for him to get us (like what you got) without making them into "FLANKEN STYLE", that's the only way they sell them there. Beef Plate Ribs, expensive but well worth the $ , once in a while!!!!!!!!!
Great looking ribs, Tommy! Although you mentioned the bark not being as 'barky' as you've achieved in the past, nobody is going to complain about 5-6 hour beef dino ribs. I'm going to be picking up a rack of these for the long weekend. Cheers!
Love Dino ribs! Have you formed an opinion about charcoal consumption yet? More or less than 560 or 1050? I stopped using my 560 (original charcoal grate) because I was tired of burning so much charcoal.
As I’m slurping down my smoothie this am….def want me a Dino rib instead 🤣😅 Great job once again HT! Love the shirt too!! Enjoy the beauty sunshine today….as I’m lacing up my sneakers to head out for a long walk to start my day!👏🏻💃🏼😻
How well do you find the hopper lid closing as compared to the previous gen 1050 series ? I found that I had to use multiple layers of aluminum foil to get a proper seal on my previous generation to get a solid seal or do a mod to the gasket.
Thanks Tommy! - I have a couple of Costco beef rib rack packs sitting in my freezer - I hope to get them on my smoker soon - I will follow your lead for the cook - Cheers!
not trying to hate, but thats a horrible bark. I get a better bark even on my Pitts and Spitts Maverick, a pellet grill. Still gave a thumbs up on the video, thanks for it.
I mentioned that in the video. It's all good, just keep in mind, this XT will out cook, grill, and smoke that pitts and spitts 7 days a week. Cheers IMHO!

LL..... I can not think of any performance mods that this pit needs. Its that good.
Have you run into the ash bin door
Open issue?
I’m doing my factory burn off and I’m getting issue.
Really a let down.
Nope.... See todays review video
Heyyyyyyyyyyy................. "Yaabaa Daaabaaa DOooooooo~

Good looking beef ribs bro!
I appreciate it brother.
Hey Tommy, I'm curious why Masterbuilt put those stainless steel racks "instead" of the CAST IRON? How do you like that? What do other people say about that?
I prefer the stainless steel - less to maintain and quicker to get to temp
I prefer stainless.... cheers review video out Saturday.

Vis versa.. 250 set temp, actual 300f... I talk about that in todays review video.
