A somewhat differently structured class-overview video talking about Golden Age of Racing #2, the Group C era from 1982-1992 (or thereabouts). We take a look at the things that made Group C unique, the developments that it prompted, the history of the class, and some of its most iconic models, including those from Porsche, Jaguar, and Sauber-Mercedes.

I think this is your best video yet. All the great history of Group C is covered and I'll be checking out unwatched videos soon. Iteratively improving my knowledge 😉 thank you.

Many thanks - there are a few parts I feel could be improved upon, but trying to balance some semblance of brevity without glossing over anything too essential, this is where I landed. The goal for Sebring Historics this year is to do a few deep dives on the cars in the flesh, actually provide some meaningful insights rather than second-hand research and summaries. But we'll see what happens. Haha

@@lenslr I think you have a very good balance. I'm quite knowledgeable about Sportscar and their history, but you are outstanding, and of course, sardonic. 👍

Well, that was amazing. Nothing quite like the combination of sportscars and my morning espresso!

Well done on this vid. I learned much I didn't know - thanks. Also, this video proves how important good (human) narration is in making it so much better!

We had Group C cars here in Austrailia and New Zealand in the late 70s to about 1982 ,they were still Saloon based and Raced along side the group A Factory cars ,The Group C cars had huge flares big wheels and tires Commodore and Falcons GM VS Ford lol pretty sure they had SBC motors instead of Holdens 5.0 v8 then it went back to all Group A cars ,and many of the old Group C cars races in sports Sedans ,now they very sought after and rare

Ah interesting - there is a good bit of reuse for class names (GT3 has been recycled a few times, for instance) depending on regionality and the passage of time

great video but the p88 actually achieved 407 km/h but used the speed 405 km/h to advertise the new Peugeot 405

Yes, we have to bow to the marketers from time to time.

13:46 it is super easy if you just spell it right.
*PDK* stands for Porsche Doppel Kupplung(s) Getriebe.
Which translates to Porsche Dual Clutch Transmission.
    Pretty easy and understandable huh?
Just because you can combine almost every substantive in german into one word, you don’t have to do it.

22:07 another oh btw here, they never build a C10 because in German that sounds like you are stuttering.
C10 would be pronounced Ze Zehn/Tse Tsehn, which sounds mighty stupid

Yep, there is a part of me they actually enjoys the whole German slightly-illogical-extreme of portmanteaus but any opportunity to use that particular clip is one I feel I should take because it's a great piece of comedic timing and delivery. Haha

@@rolux4853 yeah I think I alluded to that in the caption - didn't find the reason for it until after I'd finished recording so stuck it in as a brief addendum rather than shoehorning another re-recorded bit in. Place I was staying in Bolivia was noisier than I expected
