  • Blurb: In March 2024 sixteen SAIS students spent seven days in Kenya interviewing key stakeholders that are involved in designing, implementing, and rethinking policies of good governance that are aimed at addressing a broad range of conflict-prone issues that carry significant escalatory potential. The objective of the trip was to gain a deeper understanding of the core challenges that are currently shaping the governmental policies in the areas of political participation, environmental protection, counterterrorism, and sustainable resource allocation, and explore if and how good governance contributes to long-term peacebuilding. The students were tasked to write individual reports on specific topics through which they would evaluate the impact and effectiveness of current policies; and finally, to present recommendations about how best to advance meaningful peacebuilding practices. At this panel presentation, students will discuss their findings and present their report.
