Sometimes they can give a wobble noise before the howl. Mine came on after getting all new tires. The heavier new tires were the straw that broke the camel's back and immediately brought on the noise. Naturally since it cane on with new rubber, I was convinced it was from a defective tire and so was my mechanic because we couldn't get any noise or movement on the lift, but it was very loud while driving We rebalanced and rotated the tires. The noise was still coming from the same spot. So I gambled and chaned the bearing. Problem solved. And even though it did not make noise while spinning the wheel on the lift, when we got it out, and spun it on the workbench we heard the grinding. Go figure?
Im a sexist a hole. I never woulda thought the best explanation and instructions would come from a woman like this. I am hands down impressed. Great informative video, more in depth than any I have seen on the subject.
I appreciate this video I thought maybe I. Had a CV joint problem but until.i saw this I know now that it's a ball bearing problem. How much would this job cost me
She's good. I do hate these new sealed hub bearings. There's nothing better than the old application, with a castle nut and cotter pin. It was good enough in the commercial semi truck world, it has to be good enough in a small SUV or pickup.
Definitely need a lift if you want to spin the wheels on an AWD vehicle. Either that or you have to Jack up all four corners so all 4 wheels are off the ground
2013 Tahoe 4x4. I get a howling starting at 55 up to 65. Sounds like its coming from the front pass. Everything up front feels tight. No noise just rolling it. Front differential oil was dirty but found no metal. Also have a bearing noise from the front when on the accelerator in 4x4. I can't seem to find it yet. Newer wheel bearings before we bought it. Maybe one was China junk
I bought TRQ front hub and bearing set for my Chevy 2500HD, from you folks. Put them in to specs. Now 2500 miles later they are whining like crazy. Have not yet started to wobble thank goodness. They were replaced under warranty, but I'm afraid to put them in, I don't want to be doing front hubs every 2500 miles. Probably end up spending more and put in moogs.
My axle nut is tightened so much, i put all my 220pounds on a 6foot break bar to unscrew it, maybe thats why the car suddenly start to shake sometimes at higher speed
I've always found that the best practice is, if your going to replace one side, replace the other. otherwise you will be replacing the other side soon anyway.
What happened to the old style, when did they go away? You know, you remove the nut, cover, and pull out the bearing, grease it in your hand, and re-put it back in, install the nut, turn it , and cotter pin it? > When did they go away?
Thank you for sharing your videos and knowledge. Would you also have a video on CV axle that happens to be making noise or around that area?! Cuz I have a 2015 Subaru outback 3.6R that when I am turning left, I hear a clicking sound noise. Not so much louder than turning to the right. Thoughts please. Thank you in advance.
I have an issue with my car recently When im driving it, it makes like a type of rrrr rrrr rrrr sound almost like a helicopter And when it comes to breaking, the engine makes a loud noise when I'm breaking What could the issue be?

Can anyone give me an opinion ? I have a 08 ford focus and it’s making a rattling noise off and on with a few seconds in between stopping and starting I can barely feel it but I can hear it and it’s not very loud but noticeable and it only happens when I’m going between 65 to 75 mph but I’ve jacked my car up and checked everything and all seems to be tight and In order. But I do have a warped rotor could that cause the rattle at highway speed ?
2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3l LTZ has a humming noise in the front, so I replaced the driver side hub assembly, but the humming noise is still there. Funny thing is, it sounds like it's coming from the center of the front not where the wheels are. I don't like guessing because that's what I did with the hub assembly. This roaring sound is a constant sound that starts around 20mph and doesn't stop at a higher speed. Is it possible for it to be coming from the front differential or is that out of the question? The truck has 140k miles on it, but it's been treated nice over the years. I've checked all the fluids in the truck also. I've tried to pin point this sound by rolling up my windows and listening to it. It has me puzzled because I thought it was coming from the driver side, but it sort of sounds like its coming from the center of the front wheels. It's one of those traveling sounds. Let me know what you think.
I love your videos. I had my CV axles replaced and afterward, I did hear howling noise at high speed, also at 40mph there is sound like a distant helicopter. I believe they probably over torqued the CV Axle nut. I noticed less MPG and the car at hwy speed did not coast like it used to, it slowed quickly when off the gas. So I think my wheel hub/bearing is damaged. Over time it does seem to have improved but not normal. Is it worth loosening and re-torqueing the nut or is the damage done.
Very nice person. Way too much talking. Did not get to the point in a reasonable time. I will look for another video. Didn't finish watching. No offense intended.
When driving my 2004 Chevrolet cavalier I feel it steering wheel had wheel bearings checked twice they said they were fine but still got howling sounds don't know is causing it
Got my wheel bearing assembly replace recently as well as brakes. However still have a low volume squeaking sound when driving not when breaking or turning. Anyone maybe know what it is?

Whenever I get in my car and hit my gas pedal I hear a crack in the sun whenever I stop the car and press my gas pedal I hear the cracking song wat cousin that sound
Over tightening with a impact gun will also set your ABS light on that hub. I found out after 6 months of trying to diagnosis my ABS light. Replaced a CV axle and tightened with a impact gun on the axle nut . Squeezed the axle into the hub and threw off my wheel sensor and tire speed. Lesson learned. Also you should replace your axle nut each time you remove it.
I hit a wash out at speed on a dirt as i was inpatient as traffic was stopped ,i wanted to turn off and now i have a similar noise in the rear, pretty sure its a wheel bearing 😂
Hi my name is Hector, I have a f150 xlt 2012 two wheels drive my problem is that I hear a winning grinding nose in the front driver side. I have drop at the Ford dealership for several days and two other place to check the problem but neither of them seem to locate the issue. Can you please help or direct me how to find the source. I had the truck from New and is in good condition. Thank you look forward from hearing from you.
Nothing like having a front wheel bearing burn out and then the wheel comes off when you are loaded with 20 tons of steel going down Ranger Hill near Weatherford, TX: Catch up on your prayers real quick! 😱😱😱😱😱
Great explanation but unfortunately NO I didn't "hear that noise" and that's the main reason I played this video. It would've been much better had you kept enough gap between the noise and when you started talking. I and guess many have trouble explaining the noise we hear in our cars and the most useful thing an expert can give first is a clear clip of the noise they're talking about
I don't have a howl... mines is more like a prop engine plane that you can vaguely hear in the distance and you can only hear it around 60 miles per hour... any speed above that and you can't hear it...
I installed new drive works wheel hub bearings on my 2002 Impala ls and I hear howling noise so I need to if that's normal since. Brand from advance auto zone or if it need to break as they say?
Thanks for the video. I'm trying to diagnose (amateur mechanic) a vibration coming from the front driver side of my vehicle. I'm starting to suspect a wheel bearing also after seeing your video. May try what you did with the vehicle in the air. Thanks man!
Ive had my rear brakes replaced and asked for an inspection to make sure nothing else was needing fixed i was told everything is ok, private mechanic. I've had my back tire fixed and asked for an inspection to make sure everything is ok. Goodyear . Went to Subaru dealership 2x , one for a transmission fix. Got an inspection.. Was given green light , came back a 2nd time cv axle broken , inspection... Green light. This month my car has been in the shop inspected by at least 5. I'm still hearing a howling noise. I know people miss things. But this is not something mechanics would miss. 3,rd time at the dealership and they diagnosed my rear bearings. By this time I'm living in my car due to the money I've had to put in it. I' wish this was an easy diy fix.

Man I did that exact same thing you said don't do. Smdh order 2 sets of wheel bearings. And I did so can I had some play on the right side. Well that wasn't the problem so I check the tires there good so now I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my 2010 chevy malibu
So, you can actually mess up a brand new hub bearing over tightening it, dang. Because I've got howling from the hub a just bought, Thx for the info here.
I have 2013 ford Taurus limited mines is making this cloking noise & vibration once i give it gas. But after all this work i felt and heard this in the front end of the car. So do i change both front wheel bearing or just one.

We couldn’t hear the noise because you kept talking while driving the car.Other than that nice video. Thank you
I love this channel,I love her humor and I love her ❤❤❤.
She's the best mechanic lady on YT.

Why was she talking I couldn’t even hear it
Fucking rediculose
Very very good explanation, truly respect what you guys do. Thank you.
I love her sense of humor and how incredibly thorough she is! "But it should be fine" had me rolling. Very good video, Sue.

She's married to the game
No, we CAN'T hear any noise. The beginning doesn't give us any clear noise!

I was today years old when I learnt how to check a hub without shaking the wheel left or right
Nice video, my question, if you are having issues with one bearing at the front, should both ends be changed??
Good question
VERY EDUCATIVE. THANK YOU REGARDS
Really love your videos. Thank you
At what speed would you notice this?
Howling brakes rear brakes when stopping, what's the possible reason? No hub bearing play.
I love this channel, you guys are so thorough. I wish you guys were here, I would wholeheartedly trust you guys with my car.
RIGHT.. I WOULD BE LOST WITHOUT THEM!
Definitely need a lift if you want to spin the wheels on an AWD vehicle. Either that or you have to Jack up all four corners so all 4 wheels are off the ground
Is it better to change the bearing than to grease them?
2013 Tahoe 4x4. I get a howling starting at 55 up to 65. Sounds like its coming from the front pass. Everything up front feels tight. No noise just rolling it. Front differential oil was dirty but found no metal.
Also have a bearing noise from the front when on the accelerator in 4x4.
I can't seem to find it yet. Newer wheel bearings before we bought it. Maybe one was China junk
Now after finishing the video, maybe whoever installed the front wheel bearing just hammered on the axel nut.

I’m an Uber driver. Few passengers said ball bearing was problem. Is that a wheel bearing
It's a pity in most movies no bloody sample of the noise is being registered and/or presented. Neither here, we can't really hear anything special.
Thank you! Your video helped me diagnose the issue, and now my car is getting fixed! I even understand what they are doing to it!
Nope. Didn't enjoy the video, because now I have to get a new wheel bearing and I'm broke. Woohoo
0:35 you were talking the entire time. Was this just a editing mistake? I specifically came to listen to the sound to diagnose my issues.
Whenever I get in my car and hit my gas pedal I hear a crack in the sun whenever I stop the car and press my gas pedal I hear the cracking song wat cousin that sound
I didn't hear any noise 🤷
What could it be if the grinding noise only occurs while taking a left curve? In strait aways no noise.
No, your voice is louder than the bearing noise. I came here to listen so that I can compare to mine but I failed.
Great 👍 stuff
