“Super nice guy”
“I like that guy a lot”
Guy came out each time he was mentioned like clockwork. Amazing.
Dave took off fast at the end, didn't want to give the owner a chance to ask him the score.
I noticed that 😂@@jamesr8584
When Dave’s first reaction was “Super nice guy” and not about the pizza we knew it was over.
@@jamesr8584 he definitely heard the score, you can see his face kind of grimace as soon as he said 6.8
Ouch
one bite, everybody knows "super nice guy" is foreshadowing a six
Yeah especially as he switches to the crust after on one bite.
True that
Rough timing for the owner coming back out just in time to hear Dave’s less than stellar score…
He looked none too happy
Exactly, couldn't of timed it better.
@@russellszczepanski4414 couldn’t of is never English.
6.8 is respectable! He gave domino's less than a 4 and I eat it pretty regularly.
@@RyanMcAndrews I dunno. He gave Dragon a 6.4
props to Dave for a real honest score for a place you know he wanted to juice. I was thinking a mercy 7.4.......
yeah I was guessing the same score.
I live close by and tried bolvini several times. On this video I was thinking if he gives more than 7, I'll unsubscribe from Dave. And Dave didn't disappoint.
/pros. honesty ___ .
It's a 6.8 for Dave but a lot of places make that exact kind of pizza and stay in business for decades. Most people actually like the greasy cheesey floppy pizza for their own reasons. Probably half the pizza places in my area are basically that and make bank.
Yeah, you would be a fool to take Dave's reviews as gospel when he is so clearly biased towards a certain style. He likes his cracker thin but I like my pizza with a bit of body too it. I would never pass up a place because Dave gave it an average or below average score.
@@KHRification on the flip side, he gave an 8.4 to a place that I thought was a low 7 at best. The crust and undercarriage were both bland and had a terrible texture to them
@KHRification Dave can drive a whole lot of business to a pizza place, but he wouldn't be the reason why they lose business from current customers who eat there regularly. If I like a place, I don't care what any reviewer has to say. UNLESS youre Dragon pizza, which would have gotten a lifetime boycott from me if I lived near there.
yeah doesn't mean they ain't trash tho.
@@turtlepowersf Dragon guy was kind of funny. I respect it when someone speaks their mind rather than fake nice.
Today I was arguing what makes a good pizza and my COO shouted from his office "One bite, everybody knows the rules." Made my day lol
Dave split fast at the end. didn't want to give the owner a chance to ask him about the score.
He heard the score.
Bro open the box while you talk to let it cool off
My mom used to make pizza on Friday nights in the summer when we all had little league ball games. She made a spectacular pie with sauce from progresso's (no longer available), olive oil, basil, oregano, and dough bought from BONVINI"S in Livingston. Im talking 1968 - 1971. The memory of that taste is still in my brain.
Thank you for the story
Bet you it only costs ten bucks.
@@user-er3ri6sc3j I dont even think that. Dough was prob a buck per pound, sauce about .25/can, 1lb mooz for a dollar..... She made 3 pies 2 for my brothers and me, one for her and my dad with anchovies....like .50 for a can at the time. She most likely fed her family something we all loved for about $6. I'm 67 and can recall the taste. Pizza is sacred.
@@bluestarindustrialarts7712 Those were the days. Sing it Edith.
@@user-er3ri6sc3j all right dere meathead
Dave’s dyslexia never fails to impress. “Bavini’s”
At this point I'm convinced it's weaponized incompetence.
When a blithering idiot can amass a $500 million fortune, it serves to motivate even the most ardent dolts =)
You mean pre-dementia
You heard how he pronounced "Cammarata's," right? Not knowing how to pronounce the place, nor knowing where you are; a sign of disrespect. I don't care how busy you are. Rehearse it on the way over. It's not even apathy/ennui. It's a failure to actually care. The stories interest him, and those are fun. And the rest...the rest is for show. But it works. For him. That's the drive that made him money. But that's just him. Just sayin'.
@@argonwheatbelly637 You’re not totally wrong, but remember the visit to Palermo’s in NJ, with the owner correcting him about 8 different times, and him still struggling lol.

Prez made a quick exit after that score 😂 he wasn’t trying to have no small talk 😊
As a 2x cheese guy that pizza looked great! I think I woulda loved it. No issue with his score tho. Dave is pretty constant with what he wants/likes. I just know his 8+ is gunna be my 6+ and vice versa!
I'm a fan of the cheesy pie too. That one had a little to much flop.
I don't mind a floppy pizza. Pretty much every pizza I've ever had is floppy, except when I get a square slice.
6.8 brutal as fuck
That slop should be a 4. That's what I'd give it.
Thats a good score!
Really???
Was expecting mid 7s. Good format but cheese made it floppy.
Is 5 is average how is 6.8 brutal ??
My heart breaks every time the thumbnail is an 8.7 and the flop is in the 6's 😭
yeah in some towns they really are all about heavy toppings even if that makes it a mess of a pizza. if he just mastered the right amount of sauce and cheese with that color to maintain the crisp he would have something. but as a guy from the Indiana i can say 90% of people there just wants a greasy pizza that keeps you full in the cold weather. so it may be the same here.
@@haverjr easy fix... par bake the dough before adding sauce and cheese. The dough would be crispy and the cheese would be cooked perfectly.
Thumbnail is not 8.7
That pizza looked like shit on the thumbnail. Cheese is over browned, bottom is under browned.
That pizza is a 7.6 without even having to taste it.
That pizza actually looked awesome
100% my style
Hey, I was just wondering if you sti thought that pizza looked awesome?
@@wizcorn9958 sorry, I made that comment a couple years ago and my taste buds have changed.... Looks ok now
@bfromthea7663 love a good hot, heavy and messy slop box.
@@MoonmanSpacejamHaha, love “slop box.” Also same, I don’t have anything against a heavy, sloppy pie. I’m a cheese fanatic
That pizza looks legit. I would eat it in a second and probably give it a score in the 8's. My style and the people seem cool.
That pizza is sloppy.
30 reviews in a day is insane.Dave is truly an enigma.
Dont believe him. Its impossible to do 30 reviews at different spots and its not even dark outside. Pizza needs at least 10-15 minutes to be done + he is listening to all these stories and most of the time is needed to travel from spot to spot. Just impossible.
30 reviews in a day is just stupid, you'll over look some decent pizzas just cause you're sick of eating it.
@@hayabusa3133 I still want to believe...
Yet he has consistently put out one per day for years. Either he A: Has 5 years of back material. B: Does this 1 or 2 days a month. Or C: He’s full of shit.
Pretty sure he was just joking, Dave is always playing the fool, that's his schtick.
Dude's a true influencer / tastemaker. No background in cooking, no familial connection to the cuisine... just a Massachusetts attitude, an opinion, and an army of loyal followers.
"He's a nice guy" = Pizza in the 6's
This dude likes burnt thin crust pizza 🍕 only. Try it for yourselves, people! 😳
i agree dry cardboard
Definitely too overcooked for me. I hate burnt cheese
Dave's best pizza is just that, Dave's best pizza. He prefers a cracker with a little bit of cheese and tomato that's it. I prefer a pizza with some substance. Extra cheese? Bring it. Sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, a real man's pizza.
Dave must love Doritos chips.
I’m not trying to bulk when I eat out. I want good ingredients and no slop. This pizza was slop city
Although there's been times he's suckered up to cracker crust, most of the time its thin crust thats been well done.
Well, thats what to order if you plan on drinking as well.
@@Mario-xk4hr just thought he was unnecessarily rude to this guy. That was the most awkward ending I think I've ever seen.
The full trashcan in the front of the building tells me everything I need to know
Lmao
🤣🤣🤣 Accurate
First impressions go a long way
6.8 because the owner is a nice guy with a great story otherwise it starts with a 5
Absolutely

brutal.... 6.8 Dave you're a savage
Hey, I was just wondering if you still thought it was brutal?
6.8 was generous 😂
Friday night pizza out of a shed sounds awesome! Everybody knows the rules!
Is it always just served from a shed??
@@Toddheenan802 I too had a similar inquiry!

Same kind of story with a pizza place in St. Louis. The franchise chains came in during the 80's and put them out of business for 20 years until the granddaughter and her husband revived the recipe and began selling them at the high school where they worked as custodians. Started selling them through fund raising and opened a store shortly after.
I live in Essex county and probably 12 mins from Bonvinis. This score was weak and I usually agree with Dave, but I could almost guarantee everyone on this thread would give Bonvinis an 8+ the pizza is delicious. Sauce is perfection and the cheese is awesome.
God bless.
thats absolutely brutal
The pie looked like an 8+ on the thumbnail and a well-deserved 6.8 when he picked it up.
That pizza looked great. I would drive about 45 minutes to try it.
Pizza review time, we're here at Bon Jovis
Thank you Dave for keeping it real, despite the pressure. Not every story has a happy ending.
Dave is back!!!
People, it's very simple.
Dave has his preference. Low score for his rating system, but looks friggin' delicious to me so ill check it out.
There's places he's rated high i liked and didn't. Same goes for the low scores. Liked some, didn't others.
Just go eat pizza and enjoy life!
I recently went to a place he rated an 8.1 in Florida and it tasted like Ibis hotel chain pizza. Not bad but it wasn't special. I agree this looked good. And waiting a few minutes to eat it and let the cheese settle might even make it taste better.
Dave what you have to do is send someone else in to order the pizza so they dont know you are doing a pizza review then you'll get a pizza that was made made across the board for everyone. Cause like in some instances they try to make the pizza the way you like it instead of making it the everyday way... you probably know this and done this but i dont know this so i I thought I'd share this with you. Have a great day and love your reviews... im from chicage and man that new jersey bar pizza looks amazing, here in chicago a true Chicago pizza is thin crust that i love and i like really thin too.
Pie was great back in the day one of the best ,and the place across the street was tremendous also Camarottas pizza
Tremendous score given that beautiful caramelization on the cheese 🥹🥹🥹
We droppin bars over here, quality recipe!
"I married the youngest daughter!" ... *OLDEST DUDE I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE*
They're the same age though. He married the youngest daughter in the family, when he himself was young.
If you think for a second before you manufacture controversy, it might do you some good.
For all you know, the "youngest daughter in the family" was 79 years old. In reality though, they're both in their late 50s.
6.8 is a rough score, but a valid one
have u had it before?
I have had it. They have square slices that are in the 8s
No! Domino's, pizza hut and little ceasars got rough scores.
It was 5s at best. He juiced it
dave is a true pizza pro and even bigger pro in pronouncing the owner's place
Dave is the type of guy who sometimes eats a grilled cheese along with a beer and a tissue. He is a man with the ability to compromise
Compromise? Did Dave eat that grilled cheese of the radiator? I didn't think so.
Actually called that score when I saw him pick up the pizza, crazy.
That pizza looked incredible. 6.8 was surprising.
Hey I just subscribed to your channel. I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 . This was in my recommendation.
That was a tough score for Dave to give out, he nearly ran out of there! You could tell he wanted to love the pizza after the background story. Some places have great history with average pizza pies.
I want a bar pie right now. He gave Prez extra cheese on purpose because he liked Prez.
Hey, I was just wondering if you’ve gotten a bar pie yet?
3:06 he didn't take a bite 🤣 3:24 he comes out right as he says 6.8 🤣🤣i was expecting a 7.4 at least. respect to Dave for the honest review
Gotta go to CT and do some reviews for sure
"May want to cool it off"
Hey, you're talking to a pro. 😂
Dave was doing pizza reviews during the Brady roast. He wont admit it. lol!
Less than 5 minutes down the road from Calabria, which he gave an 8.9. Tried it last week finally, it was an 7.5 at best.
Calabria is very inconsistent, I never saw pie similar to what they gave to Dave. I think it happened because they knew he is coming, and they jumped over the head, but in reality they are about 7.0 -7.4
Buh-veeny's. The Buhveeny family. Yep, nailed it. Everybody knows the rules.
As soon as you picked it up, I knew, hurt burn in a box GREEEESY ..
That pizza is better than a 6.8 Dave! The scoring seems to be all over the place these days. 7.4-7.5 is more accurate.
Brutal score
Dave wanted no part of sharing the lowball rating & descended as he shook the owner’s hand. 😆🤦♂️😆 Good one Dave! Gr8 way avoiding disclosing the lowball rating. 😄👍
The Landmark in Livingston is good too 🍕
that guy walked out as soon as dave said the score. you could see the look of defeat on the owner's face as he walks past. damn.
Seamless transition to the promo
Damn that pie went limp like a mfer
Dave keeps his Properwild bottles filled with Addys.
Everybody knows the rules.
“Wejustheardthestory’Bavini’s’WHEREAREWELivingstonyoudon’thearstorieslikethis.”
go to reservoir tavern in parsippany, great pizza there
You need to go to Riccardo's in Browns Mills NJ
Thumbnail had a strong 8 in my heart.
"I'd like to order a bar pie with very little cheese and burn the bottom. My name is Dave."
This looked like I would have loved it. More cheese and sauce than Dave’s preference. But perfect for me.
Thumbnail 8.2 score 6.8 had that pie had some crisp underneath, it’s looking right in the middle 7.5 or better
So when do you cover the Hartford area?
Saw the flop and knew it wouldn't make it past 7. 6.8 was pretty generous, the owners personality def helped.
If you didn't know, dave likes em crispy like a newly pressed and starched pair of pants.
The Jersey reviews are the best
Dave was stoked that the owner didn’t ask for the score.
Dave keeping it 💯
That looked really good.
Every time you said his name he came out like Candyman LMMFAO
My question is: If he likes pizza more cripsy, does he order it well done? I feel like that would improve the scores for a lot of these places.
Bro pulled the advertisement out of nowhere
Looks great, love it thick
Hmm, I heard they are closing next month. Is that related to Dave's visit?
I’d still go there. Looked pretty dam good 🍕
I can't do it like you.... If the owner is super nice guy... I cant disappoint him
Tony's Pizza Morris Plains, New Jersey - ask for it well done/crispy very important.
Feel like that was a harsh score, but what do I know.
Shall we start a thing and rate Dave’s outfits, one look, everybody knows the rules.
Love the guy. Got lots of history.
Gona say 4.8, love miss peaches but a little bit heavy on the upselling!!
the owner had that look when dave gave the score, i didnt know if he was gonna shake daves hand or punch dave
Dave never knows where he's at, I'm beginning to think he's a kidnapping victim. Blindfold him drive him around , do a review, repeat. Dave in the next video the safe word is " undercarriage "
It didn't look bad, just needed to cool down. Should be placed on the rack to air before being boxed that would reduce the flop.
This was one of the best looking pies on this channel. Definitely better than a 6.8
I know its not Dave's style, but that pizza looked great.
Wow. Thanks again bro!!!!
Damn. A 6.8 for a pizza that looked great other than the flop, a super nice owner, and a cool place/story? With Dave throwing out mid 7’s like Mardi Gras beads nowadays, I thought for sure it’d be a high 7. Ouch n
That cheese looks perfect.
That pizza looks awesome
Yeah I want it the cheese is nice.
I clicked just because the thumbnail was so gorgeous.
fuck ive seen enough of these now i'm usually within .4 either way of Dave's score lol. I thought 7.2 cause it looked really well done. But it did have some flop and was a bit greasy and heavy. Not Dave's style. I'm sure I would have given it the 7.2 though since I like it a bit more heavy. But i dont like flop and i like it nice and tight, not greasy. Still looks like a really nice pie though.
There is no absolute reality. If 10 people reviewed that pizza it would get 10 different scores.
