I think I only had Cryotek and Cindarr as a kid. Fun cartoon, and great toys. The holographic stickers certainly made them unique.
Excellent video, and awesome that you included the history of how the hologram was invented too!
I used to have a couple of these figures as hand-me-downs but I lost them in a house fire back in 2013. Honestly these are figures I'll never have again because they are super expensive nowadays.😔
Sealed they are but loose they can be reasonable if you look around, I love them
I've been reading through the IDW Hasbro comics the past few days and had to look these up as they end up playing a big role as antagonists to the Transformers of all things.
Maybe it’s because I’m from a production background but I’ve gotta dip my hat to you sir...the effort you’ve put into these kind of vids is superb. A real labour of love. I know UA-cam is a diminishing return these days too so double the kudos to you. Love it, great stuff, keep ‘em coming! Thanks :)
Thank you! Appreciate it. Still learning but they are coming along nicely. Really enjoying doing them
@@toyscavenger And to think this was all before Yu Gi Oh and even JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Stands.
Oddly enough, those were sold in Greece in the 1980s. I remember having Lexor and Arzon as a kid, but I had no idea there ever was a TV show or comic book back then. The name "Visionaries" and the entire "Knights of the magical light" backstory doesn't ring any bells, as at least the product range name was changed. There was a backstory on their boxes , but it was much more Mad Max-esque, and I distinctly remember it mentioning a weapon "that could turn everything into charxoal".
Love the weapons from the Greek ones!
@@toyscavenger After going deeper into this rabbit hole, I (re)discovered that the toy line was called "Zzoids - Αστρομάχοι και Αστροπειρατές" (Zzoids - Star Fighters and Star Pirates). Some of the characters' bio sheets seemed lifted straight out of Saint Seiya - Knights of the Zodiac . For example, Lexor was practically given Scorpion"s powers, like reading unto the mind, and they even called him "Σκορπιός " (Scorpio). What's intriguing is that Saint Seiya was never aired in Greece ...
Never saw them in German tv or in toy Stores…but they look really cool 😎
i used to have the red one with the gorilla, i remember spends hours looking at the holographics as a kid
Cindar!
A fascinating Visionaries Toy History, mini documentary video, by Paul The Toy Scavenger.
Excellent work.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the continued support as always! really appreciate it.
This is great, I had ONE random figure from this set as a kid, I think I got it at a yardsale to boot, never had any clue til today what the figure was actually from! lol Thank you for this!!
Very cool!no problem! Thanks for watching! Visionaries are amazing!
I remember the TV show. It was really good for its time.
Still is I think! Just needed more episodes to get going
I only had a few, but this was awesome. I didn’t have Leoric so remember trying to customise my Centurions Max Ray since he also rocked the ‘tache!
They must of copied centurions, m.a.s.k Transformers etc for colours and styles, they all match!
Great video mate 👍 I love this toy line.
You and me both!
Awesome video, thanks.
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Love your videos
Wow thank you so much! more to come!
Amazing video mate!! Hopefully I’ll grab some of these beauties from you soon 😊
Ive found some! not the best il message you, or take them sandown for ya! thanks for watching!
You forgot to mention how in the comics. The women received power shields. Something the next wave of figures were to be equipped with, along with a Sun Imp.
I didn't know that one. Thanks. Yeah wish series 2 was done, those shield looked cool.
I remember these with such fondness! It’s a shame they didn’t go on for longer, but having seen the second wave figures, I’m kind of glad! The figures also suffered from some of the same flaws as the Action Force/Joes, like weak elbow joints and perishing O-rings, so a few of my figures had very convincing battle wounds. The Iron Mountain play set looks amazing though. I can only imagine the forlorn longing we would’ve all felt if that had come to market!
Also, having rewatched the cartoon on DVD, it also seemed like the writers were already running low on plots by the end of the run, so all in all I think it went out at its peak
Great comment! 100% right, really wish we got Iron Mountain, thanks for watching!
Great video mate ! Absolutely loved these toys and the series. Baffled why no one’s done a reimagination if it as the story is fantastic. The lines in the show were genius too. “That’s it Lexor, you’ve enraged me!” 😂
My thoughts exactly, the lines were great! Thanks for watching
Well, there was the semi-reimagining that appeared in the IDW Comics shared universe crossover thingy, but that was hampered by having to play a part in a larger story. A new standalone series could be great!
What a fantastic video! Figures look absolutely mint! I really do wish the made the second series 😢
You and me both! all the protos look a bit rough, but the ones that would of been retail would of looked ace!
thanks for appearing!
Great and interesting video. As a kid i always preferred the look of the Supernaturals as i loved monsters and horror more than heroes. Also there was also a definite trend at the time to make these dynamic, powered up heroes look like a middle aged dad for some reason.
Same here!I prefer the look of the Holograms on super naturals, but visionaries is my go too.
@@toyscavenger i'd love a follow up on Supernaturals if you're feeling like pursuing the hologram toy trend of the time. They had some weird AF lore if i recall correctly.
Thats the plan at some point! Just got to get a few others done first! Love them
Were Ektar and Feryl’s bios switched around in the show? Because in the cartoon, Ektar was a crafty old warrior who worked as a detective before their planet lost all technology. And Feryl was the eager young guy who tried to earn the respect of the older Spectral Knights.
I'm not sure, but high odds seems I may of mixed then up! 🤔
Such a great toy line my best birthday memory was getting capture chariot and the one that came with reekon, great video one day I’ll own a carded visionaries figure
thats a good birthday gift! mine were car boots finds or the one i got at a fair ground! love them tho
@@toyscavenger can honestly say was only because a friend of the family works for WH Smith’s and got it mad cheap 😂😂
Still my favourite 80s series of all time along with M.A.S.K curious as to where you got the stands from?
Same here! I got them a few years ago off ebay, think the seller was in the US and still does them! Thanks for watching
Awesome video! I've always been a huge fan of these toys. Having only seen a couple of the cartoons as a kid I had to make up my own head canon based on their file cards.
Same here! then i finally got to see the VHS a few years later! thanks for watching!
I think the hologram effect came from the gi joe action figure B.A.Ts
I have an Arzon with purple armor and can hardly find any information about it. I’ve been told they are rare and was hoping someone knew more about this figure. Thanks
Yeah it's one of the rarer varients, stick it on ebay with the correct description or in the Visionaries facebook groups if you are selling. That's the last I actually need also.
If they were the same size as GI Joe send a message to toy line would be successful and could possibly have a cross over with GI Joe
Surprise Hasbro hasn’t incorporated Visionaries into Dungeons and Dragons.
Yeah true, would fit well
I finally got the first 8 in protective cases and the holograms are all at least an 8 or better. Damaged stickers drove me nuts. Bought a few guys more then i meant to. Cindarr is my favorite. 🦍
Awesome! Bet they look great!
To this day i wish hasbro would put out wave 2.
You and me both. The shields looked so good.
