- DOWNTON ABBEY FILMING LOCATION TOUR IN THE COTSWOLDS: Beautiful places & villages in England// Hello, Today is quite a special video we think. Joerg and I went on a Downton Abbey filming location tour in the Cotswolds. Although the series is meant to be set in Yorkshire, most part of it was actually filmed in the beautiful and picturesque Cotswolds.
First of all, we went to Shilton, a very small and gorgeous Cotswold village which was used as The Red Lion pub where Bates worked as a barman. We then visited Bampton which was 'Downton' in the series where you would find Mrs Crawley's house, the church, the cottage hospital, the post office and the pubs. It's such a beautiful place and really worth visiting. We have always LOVED Mrs Crawley's house and it didn't disappoint.
Last but not least we went to Cogges Farm where many farm scenes were filmed for Downton Abbey. You would also find Mr Drew's Yew Tree Farm here where he lived with his family and Lady Edith's daughter Marigold. Later on Mr Mason, Daisy's father-in-law went to run the farm. It's a heavenly place and you can see the inside of the gorgeous manor house where they filmed the kitchen scenes. We fell in love with the kitchen and the whole farm. You really have to put it on your must visit places list. It was a very special day and we hope you will enjoy the video. Kirsten & Joerg x

England is such a beautiful country. You are so fortunate to live there. I enjoyed seeing the Downton locations. Bampton was picture perfect. I'm glad you had the 20% sunshine, and not 80% rain!
We were so incredibly lucky with the weather, I even got a sunburn and it was supposed to be raining.

I used to stay in Bampton village all through the sixties with my aunt and uncle in the holidays. I remember all the little shops in the high street.....it really had a butchers, greengrocer, fishmongers, toy shop that sold clothes, a small grocery store. We'd walk to a river to swim ....climb trees in the orchard...take the dog for walks. My aunt and uncle were married in that church. Recently I watched all the Downton Abbey episodes ...I didn't want it to end! Bampton means happy childhood memories for me.

That was a wonderful filming of a place of such a calm and enchanting character ! The stone houses ,the cemetery ,the church and the lovely garden ,they make up an unassuming country corner of perfect beauty ! And made me long for Downton Abbey ...Thank you ,friends .

Mrs. Crawley's house is so lovely, is it near the site of the war memorial with Mrs. Patmore's nephew's name, one of my favorite episodes.
Endless picturesque buildings and gardens…. How lucky you are to be able to see such lovely places, and how lucky we are that you show them to us! I want to get on the first plane to England and check them out for myself but until I can, I will see them through you! Thanks so much!
This is so lovely it is just beyond words. So cozy and quiet. Could just imagine walking these streets many years ago with so much to offer in your own little community you would call your home. So lucky to live in this area, you both have found a piece of heaven. The serenity and the beauty of nature is better than all the God that anyone could ever own!
This history is wonderful and so much different than expected when watching the show Downton Abby. Love that program so much with such rich history for us to comprehend how the lives moved on from one generation to another and yet how new ways came tumbling upon them even though they went there screaming all the way. No one at first wanted to surround it totally but all found their own ways to contend with it, and arm up to it. They meld into their own independent lives with places often not far outside of Down Abby and the confines and all the friendship it offered them for so long. Thinkhowoour own families have come down through our family line under threads like this, being woven as each went along?
Thank you for taking us along on this trip and also explaining the various buildings and a little about each one. Certainly would not have figured them out totally alone.

When you both take us on your fabulous adventures......it's like I'm right there walking the lanes. The cotswolds homes are so beautiful! We are building a log home in 1700's style but I am adding a stone fence and have been inspired by your design style ❤
The Cotswold Villages are so very lovely, that when you are there, it feels as if you have gone back through time. It is everyone’s idea of the quintessential English Village life. I love the stone buildings, something you don’t see in Canada 🇨🇦. Oh and the sounds of the Church bells 🔔 Glorious! No wonder Downton Abby was filmed here.. love your vlog in Shilton Village. This video is one of my most favorites Kirsten and Joerg!! The music 🎶 is perfectly suited to your scenes.. we like how you are adding the printed names of your locations as well… and how you go from vistas to a close up of a rose, for example! My husband and I also loved Downton Abbey and so enjoyed “ revisiting “ it with you.. nice touch to add the photo in corner of a scene from the series!! A charming place to visit. You two look wonderful, happy, healthy and a joy to see. That chocolate fudge cake looked delicious. My husband and I visited England for two and a half weeks, on our own. We drove around all the Cotswold villages one day.

Kirsten my dear, I have been watching you on my tv for, at least, the past for years - definitely since pre-covid. You transport me to "happy places." It's quite coincidental that we have such similar taste. I'm an American, family here since the 1600's. However, it's interesting how much more I relate to your appreciation of historic architecture and traditional English decor than any interior decorator I've yet consulted with in Knoxville, where I live- Knoxville, Tennessee. I have been there with my husband about 10 years ago, the Cotswold are a very pleasant place, reminds me La Bretagne en France. We had a tea party in the house where the serie Was made, exactly during one of the last season episode. It’s was 👌…… and PS : you are both a part of a charming and nice couple 😘
