- This was Tricky's second appearance on Later. This was around the time of the release of Pre-Millenial Tension, just as his live shows were starting to sound like the Rollins Band on barbiturates.

I saw the Maxinquaye tour in New Zealand at a festival. While they were playing, the roadies were setting up the stage next to them...........He stopped singing mid-song, walked across to the other stage and destroyed them. It was beautiful. One of the greatest shows I’ve seen.
I was at that gig too, that moment was extraordinary. Great show. This is a killer performance too, love this album
Saw that tour too with my little sister who insisted I'd show him a tattoo I've got that says "tricky". He got happy as a child on Christmas, after spitting on his finger and rubbing my skin to see it was really there, haha! Insisted I'd come backstage, suggested I'd take my then 14-Yr old sis too, after the gig, but I (the only sane decision I made in the 90s) decided that might get a wee bit too much for her.
Even tho I've been to later gigs with him, where he's obviously hasn't been "all there", he's one of the most important musicians to me, who influenced my taste in music and in my opinion made me 'raise the bar'. Phenomenal.
I saw him at Lollapalooza shortly after this album came out. He played mid afternoon, to a crowd that didn't really care, and he blew my mind out. "Vent" in particular has to be heard live. Thanks for posting!

@@Furiousstyles30 I'm not OP but I saw Tricky perform at Pine Knob. Vent went off the rails, listening to this performance is taking me back. I remember Tricky kinda meandered around the stage while his band played Christiansands and they stopped I guess after they realized he wasn't going to sing it lol. Martina doing Lyrics of Fury definitely got people's attention. Glad I saw them then cuz he doesn't really come to Michigan too often!
Lots of good memories. Told a friend Korn wasn't playing cuz someone in the band was ill. He didn't believe it, thought we were playing a joke, we got to laugh as he walked around the festival in his Korn shirt. Smelled Snoop's weed as he smoked on stage. Tool was Tool, security was dicks and kicked out so many people during their set. One after another. And Devo! I wish I had a video of the entire day.

the guitar part is so hard to play the guitarist did her best. My fav female voice and producer of all time. simple chords but such a complex rhythm on she makes me wanna die lol. Legendary group, changed the world and barely known by mainstream. Respect.
Hey, I really appreciate this...I have spent so many hours trying to figure out this guitar part with no luck. It's so amazing and beautiful. I think he probably had some weird tunings and was stoned as hell. It's absolutely impeccable.

I think it's partial chord fragments using the minor/major shapes with a bit of an offbeat timing - not bar chords. Similar to how Frusciante would approach a chordal melody.
