Dear Coleen - i've been literally scratching my head searching a precise explanation on how to create and sew patch pockets. Once again you are the one who saved me from going mad ). Your video and instructions are exactly what I needed. thank you so very much.By the way let me add that you have such beautiful and graceful hands. It is pleasure watching and listening to you.
Thank you. I am all self taught. Always learning new ways and old ways etc..lol. Thank you for sharing you knowledge and helping my sewing look even better
I think your video was clear and concise and it was well paced. I've been a home sewer for a long time and sometimes I just want some good and clear input. Patch pocket tutorial was helpful. Thank you
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this very through instructional video. My current pattern instructions were not very clear for the blouse I’m making, so your video was just what I needed to understand how to sew the pockets on to the blouse. Thanks so much! I will definitely check out your other videos and subscribe.
That was so helpful. My pattern didn't give very clear instructions and your video was perfect. I love the detail of the mitered corners and was able to do it myself (yay!).
Hello Colleen, I am about to sew a blouse with a patch pocket. Your video was extremely helpful to me. Thank you very much. Kind Regards Ann in South Australia.
Thanks for all your fantastic tutorials! You are an amazing teacher! I have a request reagarding how to sew by machine a patch pocket from inside, I mean without any visible stitching outside ... can't find anything about it!
Hi , i just like the way you stay on top of everything on your blog , what ever is asked of you , it is so dedicated i appreciate what you are doing in the time of sewing
Although I learned to do a patch pocket this way many years ago, I always found it didn't make nearly as nice a pocket as doing this -- just make two, sew them together, turn inside out, and you get instant finished edges without having to press edges down. The opening can be topstitched closed if you put it at the bottom of the pocket. SO much easier!
Every pocket is different and the size will all depend on the garment you're adding it too. For a blouse for example, the size would be around 13x13cm's excluding facing.
Loved the tutorial, but am I the ONLY one that when the intro music came on thought "Did I click on the wrong video? This is the music for Cooking With Dog!" LOL!!
Nice video. I have a lot of t-shirts and sweatshirts that do not have pockets. And now that I'm older I need a pocket for my reading glasses. And of course cell phone. So I wanted to learn how to sew on pockets. Also I considered sewing on pocket so that the shirts I have already that have pockets will have two pockets one on either side on the chest. I do not own a sewing machine. So I looked online to see what was available for the top five sewing machines. However I was wondering what make and model sewing machine you prefer or you recommend I'm a beginner so I don't know much how to use a sewing machine yet.
I have provided you with a couple of links of popular machines that are trending right now for you to consider. They are Brother ST150HDH - amzn.to/3wqhUAk or Janome 2212 - amzn.to/3fCDWtH both can cope with different types of fabrics, they are reliable machines for beginners and the reviews are pretty good too! I hope that helps Dana.
Hi :-) fantastic tutorial, thanks for sharing! May I ask if it is possible for you to post a tutorial about patch pocket that are sticthed from inside? I mean the ones that you cannot see any top stitiching.... Once again, thanks for sharing your brilliant videos :-)
How to fix the dangle part of it !! I bought a dress with front square pockets But they're widely opened it's like something pulling it down ... How to fix it ? Making them straight and tight
so.... I just want to know how to repair a bloody pocket that's tearing away... any short simple vid recommendations? btw, Blue Sky scrubs are great but their sewing/reliability is shit. Four out of four scrubs have their pockets falling apart :(
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I love the fact that we as the fashion sewing community can share our wealth of knowledge. Appreciated.

How to fix the dangle part of it !!
I bought a dress with front square pockets
But they're widely opened it's like something pulling it down ...
How to fix it ? Making them straight and tight
It's sounds like the fabric could be the wrong choice for the dress, using fabric starch may help.
so.... I just want to know how to repair a bloody pocket that's tearing away... any short simple vid recommendations? btw, Blue Sky scrubs are great but their sewing/reliability is shit. Four out of four scrubs have their pockets falling apart :(
