I remember being at a party in highschool, cracking beers and popped this album in the cassette player. The room cleared out immediately. Good times.

Speed was in demand back then. Faster punk. Faster metal. But Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Witchfinder General and Pagan Altar kept the slow torch burning.
i always admired bands like saint vitus and the melvins who played slow as fuck even live. its so easy to play faster in front of a crowd out of nervousness or just to get some energy going - but they'd play slower than the album
there's footage on youtube of the melvins playing hag me at a house party and half the crowd seems unsure how to react to such a crushingly slow and heavy song

damn, just read mark passed away.. yet i i think he lived a full life, more than i will ever be able to.. even if iwas "born too late" (disregarding 35 years) and still i think it was too late... I wont say any cheesy stuff. Just My honest thank you since 2000's.. thats when i first heard........ many things have happenend since then, st vitus is and will always be eternal

somehow, I always come back to this album. Sooner or later there is a moment where you are at your lowest, when you feel like shit. There is nothing that can compare to this album, really. I feel like I'm a mirror of the lyrics, and it's comforting but at the same time you want to die, it's the endless paradox of life ... until it's over. One day I won't come back to it because I will not be here, and I might be actually resting in peace somewhere else. Right now I yearn for that moment, I can't wait.

I first heard these guys back in 1985 been a fan since. They deserve to be much, much better known. Their new album is so strong --it's a fucking beast.
Couldnt see these guys as was just a bit too young......made up for it by having a beer with Wino himself at the underground in Camden seeing Spirit Caravan, years later.....epic night!

Doom is always about the subject matter, not the sound. It's the descent detailed within the lyrics and spirit they represent. Antichrist all around.. But it's cloaked, in a way to entertain and entice the unknowing.. Same across the board for all music. If you don't believe these words, research jazz and it's origin.. You'll find the connection
