Ali I watch your Vidio and straight away new that was for me.I only aided a comment Brilliant when i finished watching your vidio.Today I Played in a competition at my home course Aphrodite hills. For the first time in months I played like i used to.I came 3rd thanks for showing your vidio what helped me strike the ball much better.Once again Brilliant thanks.
I've hooked the ball for 30 year's tried everything. Got to the point where I was holding off my release in an attempted to keep it straight. I'll definitely be giving this a try... At the range first of course. 😉 Thanks.
I know it's an old video, but still relevant. Working on this exact thing today. Glad to see that I wasn't doing anything wrong by working out face to path angles without a launch monitor.
Been waiting for something like this - perfect for me and my recent struggles due to not playing or practicing much. So many videos around for slicers but this one was for me. Thanks 🙏
Helpful thoughts and images to take to the range, as I often fight the hook, especially as the club gets longer - 4i, 3i, 4w. I definitely have a strong grip that doesn't help, but compound that with my typically very in to out path and look out, fore left! Thank you!
Another great video Ali, thank you. I draw the ball with most clubs, but it turns into a hook when I'm using a 5 or 6 iron. Probably trying to force the shot to gain extra distance.
What a weird game:. when I was a kid I had a matural cut/slice but it was a powerful move. Then, when I started trying to "play" it, my cut turned into a slice and I was always missing right to way right. Now I understand the physics and biomechanics of what is going on, but for the life of me I cannot cut the ball reliably. I'm going to work on this stuff you talked about here, Thanks
I really like your style. I watched your video today and then played. Happily I only hit one pull or hook not sure which it was. But I thought I would probably hit everything right which is what I did. High and right. I don't know which is worse. (Sigh)
I watched this video yesterday and this morning. My miss is a hook that starts at the target so I know there's no glaring issue with my face angle. I struggle with impact, sometimes hitting thin or fat while trying to hit ball first. I record my swing and can see that while my backswing is serviceable, one piece takeaway, face matches spine angle until I break my wrists (no cup), my hips tend to be too square to the target line at impact and I thought it was a rotation issue. After seeing this, I think it is from swinging too far in to out and "shallowing" the club. At lunch I went home and while I was there grabbed my 5i and hit three shots into the net after a couple of practice swings and trying to feel "swing left". Impact immediately changed. I hit three of the most crisp shots I have ever felt, divots were dead straight with a square edge to start even though I felt like I was exiting far left. You may have solved my miss and the thin/fat strikes... I am going to put on the range and course this weekend but feel very optimistic off of just three swings!
@@AliTaylorGolf Yes sir! Have taken a bunch more swings and it is going to take time to get used to, the feeling of swinging left is odd but when I make a good swing, it is really, really good! Thanks!
This was great! I don’t necessarily fight a hook, but in the quest to try and hit a draw instead of my natural fade, I have found that I would come too far from the inside causing big fat shots, or straight pushes…I’ve then tried what you mentioned, i.e., trying to just go back to my fade, and find that just that swing thought, which does feel simpler and just feels like rotating the body, gives me a much better ball flight…straight for the most part, with a slight fade or draw at times…
Sometimes I have to aim like 40 yards right to get the hook back to fairway. Nowadays I have fixed the swing path so most times I get a big draw instead of a hook. But when I do get it rights its dead straight and low.
On those where you’re hooking the ball it looks like you’re really standing up with flat shoulders through impact. Something I think that I do as well. What’s the best way to combat that? Any video?

Good demonstration of all the factors. Helps!

Thanks Ali, one of your best!
would you do the same swing feeling and set up with your drive
Another great explanation,mthanks

Very good video 👊🏽
Glad you liked it!

Could you do a video how to stop a hook with the driver as well.
Or is it the same thing

Do you still set up square or should your set up be open? (When you are explaining changing the swing path/face direction).
Try both and see what works best for you
Great tip, thank you.

As one who fights a hook, especially with my mid to long irons, would weakening my grip help me deliver the club face more open?
It may but it may cause a slice. You prob are setting up closed club face at address. Let the loft be the loft or slightly open
That's me ali 🙂🏌♂️👍well done 👏
Thanks 👍
Getting fitted for new irons has greatly reduced my hook. If anything I might pull some shots just right of the pin.
That’s me. Big hook. I think I’m rotating my forearms and I’m trying to minimize that but by doing that it feels like it’s not as powerful.
Ali, your swing kind to stop when your club contacts the ball! Swing mouth and forward and make allso good finnish! Your can stop hooking so!

Improve face and path, the body will move into the positions it needs to do this
Brilliant
Are drivers the same?
Maybe not as exagerrated
This is me
Seems like I’d lose distance hitting my irons like this
You won't, why would you think so?
I doubt high or mid handicappers would benefit from this. I can’t just alter my swing path and club face like that. Just sayin!
i cant even hit it off the ground
I think you need your lie angles flattened about three degrees
