This is the best video about hooking I've ever seen. I've watched all of Piers and Andy's videos and they've never explained it as clearly as this. Thanks for the tips.
Hey Mark, I just wanted to say thank you for what you do. You have helped lowered my Handicap from 18-12 and helped me make informed decisions on clubs to help my game. Appreciate everything you do, and look forward to future video's. Cheers mate.
Sungjin Cho i've been hooking "consistently" n i keep forgetting to change my grip to a weaker grip - the only thing is that, weaker grip is a bit awkward n uncomfortable ..
I have spent the last 6 months trying to get this sorted out with my instructor 2 lessons a month still hooking and I can honestly say I think this has sorted out the issue in a day, I found that even when I was trying to hit fades I couldn't. Just straight shots one after another, indicating my thought of a straight shot was actually a draw or hook shot brought on mainly because of the over the top driver swing ideas, which actually turned out to be poor connection. I could have saved $600 and just watched this clip, Thanks Mark you're a legend!!!
I played today, and I had a severe case of the hooks.( I usually hit a fade) I came home and signed on to youtube about to search through your videos looking for tips on hooking the ball. Luckily you had posted one today. It's like you made this video for me, so thanks Mark. Your videos are the best. Greetings from Canada.
Thanks for your video. Had developed a terrible hook with my irons. Found out with your video that my right hand had travelled far to much under my grip. Now my shots are nice and straight.
Absolutely excellent video. Cured my duck hook in ten minutes on the range with these swing thoughts. Particularly the last one with trying to swing left. My push draw/ push snap hook turned into a 5 yard draw that started on target.
Thank you for posting this. I did exactly what you say NOT to do to compensate for the hook and it made my spin creating the hook worse. Went to the range last night and saw some good improvement. Now, with 1000 more swings I can start to work on the next thing I will start doing wrong!
Hi Mark, I've been having issues with hooking and think my problem was as you pointed out with my right hand. Will take this to the course this weekend.
Thank you Mark. You explained the phenomenon exceptionally well. Looking forward to trying your suggestions on the range. I'll be looking for more of you on UA-cam. Thanks again and all the best!
Loved this vid, I've just started to play golf and have found that at the moment this is my worst fault ( there are many but this ruins any improvement on anything else ) . I will put into practice tonight what I've learned and hope for the best as it is really soul destroying getting a good strike then seeing it dissapear left into the trees.
Mark, this is a great video! I was actually hoping that you would come out with a video like this because I'm having this exact problem. I'll definitely give these tips a try out on the range this week. Thank you!
Awesome video I think you are spot on correct there I have been killing my self on the range hitting hook after hook with every damn club in the bag can't wait to give your method a go tomorrow
i been hooking the odd shot and and catching the odd fat shot i had a look at a few tips from u , tryed them out at the range and now hitting the ball well the weather has stopped play most of winter but need to keep swinging for new season hope we get some good weather this year
Love the "Get stuck in" comment. Had a soccer coach from Newcastle in my youth who said the same thing. Good times. Great explanation. Will take it to the range.
Thanks for the video instruction. I've been having problems with my driver and 3 wood only, lately. Even my long irons don't suffer from the hook. I will be doing those drills and making that conscious effort to exit out left.
Mark, this is good and it seems like a quick fix for the average golfer. But what about the low or scratch golfer who needs to hit a draw but is hooking? Would you then recommend just weakening the grip but continue to close stance ect..draw set up?
Mark at about 4:30 in this video you reference another previous video about the the club is supposed to rotate with the body on the way back. I've searched and cannot find that referenced video. Could you please reply with that link? Thank You. Great channel and great app!
Mark, could you elaborate on what causes a shot like this......lets say, a 170 yd par 3. I pull a nice and easy 5 iron....ball starts on path...stays there maybe a 1/2 to 3/4 of the way to the target then starts to leak either left or right.......and now I'm going to watch more of your videos. I had one of the worst rounds of golf in my entire life today.
I need your help bro, you are the best. I am a 3 to 4 handicap but hook it to pull hook a lot. Can I send you my swing? I really think I could go under par if I could eliminate this shot
I'm just a weekend golfer and I figured out how to not slice my ball off the drive. But I would think swing speed would and shaft flex would come into play with a driver? And not so much irons I could be wrong
Mark, I have been a driver slicer for years and have recently added an 11 degree offset King Cobra Driver to my bag. However, I am now pull hooking this club, high & up to 40 metres left of target. I was wondering if I should just open face at address & aim say 20 metres right of target? Peter
Mark these videos are fantastic. I have read that grip size on a golf club may cause the player to grip incorrectly and that can cause a hook. Do you recommend a grip size (standard, midsize, oversize)? Thanks!
Excellent video. Mark knows his stuff. Sidespin is often more of a path problem than a face problem. Another helpful drill for those who hook the ball is to put a headcover on the ground, just right of and beyond the impact area. Avoid contacting it when you hit balls. This drill forces the clubhead path back inside, after impact, which will cure the hook for most of you.
Will def be trying this. Suffered big time on sunday. Closing face, rolling hands over. Not pretty. like the drills. Easy to follow. Any more tips on putting be great. Consistency more than anything. Drills be great. Thanks mark.
Thanks so much for this. I have a neutral grip, and with my driver the ball starts left and than curves left. If I move it back in my stance it stops it but I lost distance and the trajectory is low. It only happens with my driver. Is my face shutting? How do I stop this?
Mark, thanks for the tips. I hit my irons straight as an arrow but always left of the target like 10 yards. although my feet are aligned with the target. I think my swing path might be out to in. my driver is a nasty hook to the left😳
I have struggled with hooking the ball for years. I can hit fades and slices on the range but when it’s game time I tend to go back to my old grip and swing out to the right.. it’s frustrating Guess I gotta spend more time doing drills, thanks for your videos :)
Hi Mark thanks for the advice but I feel like on impact my right hand is twisting the club and creating a massive hook sometimes. Any advice cheers Bruh
So I have a question regarding fixing an iron hook vs fixing a driver slice, I have seen videos that suggest with an iron to fix a hook swing or finish your swing towards the left, while if I'm trying to fix a driver slice, I should swing towards "right field" would these swing directions be correct? Thank you
Hi mark I tried this before with good results as I suffer with a closed club face but does this mean I am now not realising the club face the strike tho is sweet now when I hit the ball and actually find it easy to hit it i play off 7 and have suffered with this hook for a while now and I have had golf instruction to sort it but it does not really work long term and was wondering if I continue to play as I am now will I develop a slice?
Mark question - is hook also caused by "collapsing wrist" - ie i am right handed and i tend to hit the ball like a tennis ball especially when a bit tired - like top spinning a tennis ball - and also i weirdly i feel "better" - when hitting it like that - like it is a better hit more powerful but it duck hooks left - is a wrist support any help? to stop left wrist rotation anitclockwise on/after impact? any help much appreciated cheers
I draw/hook everything from driver to wedge I play off 10 but very rarely can play to it any help you could give me would be great fully received where would be the best link to send u a video?
Great video! Mark, what brand of golf pants are you wearing? They look like they would be very comfortable. I usually wear shorts, but I sometimes need long pants. thanks.
Mark, what would you rather use to check your clubface ... the club at 9'oclock and where the toe is .... or the club at the top of your swing and if it is not facing up (closed) or too far down (open)?
hey mark, i hook my driver but not my irons. I drive around 285 yards without a draw on my driver. Im trying as many drills as i can and got my grip fixed. I think it is my club angle when i hit the ball. I dont know how i do it only with my driver. Your most likely the only one who can help me fix this. I also think i am hitting my driver the same way i hit my irons. Can you please do a video on this. It would be much appreciated and would help me so much. Thanks Mark
Went to the range 2pm today could not stop hooking my driver went home watched this video then went back to hit a basket of balls again and what do you no 55 out of 60 went straight crazy thanks for the advise helped me no end
like, honestly, thank you. my mom just beat me in a round. it was all due to my shitty hook. i practiced this for a week straight at the range and i just beat my mom in our latest round.
Big wicked hooks are killing my round. I can draw the ball but, this high 20yd hook lands me in the mine-field and blows my game right-up. This happens, 90% of the time with one of my rescue clubs...my (Use)-to go-to club. One fairway in particular, you can land a dozen Blackhawks on....I jack it left, result is a swimmer... Ill be checking my grip...setup. and working the drills....Thanks Mark.
Hey mark, i recently got back into golf (14 handicap) i used to never hit left I'm not necessarily hooking just going left! I was 5'9 when i bought my full length clubs and now i am 6"2/3 is this anything to do with my clubs? If i stand further away and bend down although it hurts it replicates the longer length club and it goes straight i just dont know length from the ball i short start. I fear i am standing to close to the ball so on my stroke i go over the ball, Am i right? help!
Hmm, good vid, makes it clearer than most. I have a terrible hook, based on this video I strongly suspect my left hand is too much under the club (I'm left handed). It does feel quite awkward if I try to correct this, though. To be honest I don't think my wrists are cut out for golf, they seem very weak, and I have delicate girly hands. They are my curse :P
Fascinating...my instructor blames everything on head movement,...its bollocks. This is exactly what i need an intelligent appraisal of what is actually going on in the swing.
does this work if your driving and the ball litaraly lands 100 meters to your left and almost behind where you stated i guss the only way to discribeit woul be the ball does whata boomerang does in a alf moon shape
I have a severe hook/pull hook with my woods and hybrids but my irons tend to be ok. I have a pretty neutral grip with my right hand well on top of the left. How can I stop this horrible pull hook? It's really killing my game.
The frustrating thing is, my shots used to be high right, it's only in the last four months I've started hooking left. But my driver still goes high right. Help me please 🙏
This is the best video about hooking I've ever seen. I've watched all of Piers and Andy's videos and they've never explained it as clearly as this. Thanks for the tips.

Best video for curing hook on the Internet. And trust me, I've seen them all.
Haha thanks hope it helped

you explain it better than anyone I've heard, cant wait to try out on the range, Cheers from across the pond!!
This video was the cure to my pull hook. It went from pull hook to pull to straight with power. Thanks a bunch, Mark! (Los Angeles, CA)
Thanks mark been suffering with a hook since end of July, grip seems ok so will give this drill a go! Thanks again.
Absolutely excellent video. Cured my duck hook in ten minutes on the range with these swing thoughts. Particularly the last one with trying to swing left. My push draw/ push snap hook turned into a 5 yard draw that started on target.

Hi Mark, I've been having issues with hooking and think my problem was as you pointed out with my right hand. Will take this to the course this weekend.
Excellent explanation of the golfers nemesis...the snap hook. Easy enuf to understand why the ball goes left when you least expect it!
Thank you Mark. You explained the phenomenon exceptionally well. Looking forward to trying your suggestions on the range. I'll be looking for more of you on UA-cam. Thanks again and all the best!

Mark, this is a great video! I was actually hoping that you would come out with a video like this because I'm having this exact problem. I'll definitely give these tips a try out on the range this week. Thank you!
Thanks Mark your instructions are so easy to understand.
Awesome video I think you are spot on correct there I have been killing my self on the range hitting hook after hook with every damn club in the bag can't wait to give your method a go tomorrow
Great video this one mark, takes a lot of work to trust it but makes a big difference if you put the practice in. Thanks!
OK, thank you, great video. Can't wait to try some of this out.
i been hooking the odd shot and and catching the odd fat shot i had a look at a few tips from u , tryed them out at the range and now hitting the ball well the weather has stopped play most of winter but need to keep swinging for new season hope we get some good weather this year
Anxious to try your recommendations, thank you. Question; is it ever practical to have a strong left grip with a weak right-handed grip?
Thanks Mark, hopefully solve this at the range!
Great video Mark, figured out I had a simple grip issue.
U make so much sense and love how normal u are thanks a lot
Love the "Get stuck in" comment. Had a soccer coach from Newcastle in my youth who said the same thing. Good times. Great explanation. Will take it to the range.
Thanks for the video instruction. I've been having problems with my driver and 3 wood only, lately. Even my long irons don't suffer from the hook. I will be doing those drills and making that conscious effort to exit out left.
I loved this tip, thank you! It was my grip! I'm a 15 handicap and I've never had a lesson before, I think it might be time ..

Thanks Mark. I think it would be helpful to me if you were to suggest which club I should use in a practice drill such as this.
Hi Mark,
am off to try your advice.....good to have someone explain what is happening as well as the fix! Thanks, will subscribe to your posts.
Awesome video on curing your golf hook.
Did this move the entire weekend and YES it definitely did stop the hooks however it also took 10 yards off of all my clubs especially my short irons.
Mark at about 4:30 in this video you reference another previous video about the the club is supposed to rotate with the body on the way back. I've searched and cannot find that referenced video. Could you please reply with that link?
Thank You. Great channel and great app!

mark I only tend to hook my driver my irons are okay any suggestions
+james eadie your driver maybe closed, pretty sure it is this........i fade my irons and draw the driver........it's closed a couple of degrees.
james eadie
I have the same issue with my woods and driver they tend to extremely hook but my irons tend to draw nicely
I'm just a weekend golfer and I figured out how to not slice my ball off the drive. But I would think swing speed would and shaft flex would come into play with a driver? And not so much irons I could be wrong
great video ... I like to go to the driving range and mini put. This will help at the driving range... thank you.
Thanks Mark! You ever in Vegas I’d love to meet you. The videos are helpful and as always produced well. Cheers!
Makes great sense, thanks will try tomorrow.

Awesome video Mark, as always! Thank you.
Thanks Mark looking forward to putting this into practice.
Brillant video. Helped a bag full.
Good Stuff,
I will try this drill more often. I'm just starting out maybe this will help me swing my driver better the 3 wood is excellent right now.
Excellent video. Mark knows his stuff. Sidespin is often more of a path problem than a face problem. Good clear explanations of what's going on in a faulty golf swing here and great advice on how to start to fix it. Thanks Mark

this was an amazing video thanks so much for the tips crushing my driver now
You braught me down from a 41 to a 38! Thanks!
7 years later and this video is still solving the hookers problems!
Went to the range 2pm today could not stop hooking my driver went home watched this video then went back to hit a basket of balls again and what do you no 55 out of 60 went straight crazy thanks for the advise helped me no end
great video i'm gonna try this out.
Mark, I've noticed that a lot of people on the Internet have been comboing the titleist ap2's in the 6-3 and the titleist mb's in 7-p, any thoughts?
like, honestly, thank you. my mom just beat me in a round. it was all due to my shitty hook. i practiced this for a week straight at the range and i just beat my mom in our latest round.
Thanks for this vid. Not sure if it will work for me yet, but i
Great Vid. Thanks Mark..
Should I work on the hands and handle first? Seems like even in your swing it left drill the hands are leading the club head
Hi mark, would this apply to the driver too?
Mark, which golfers should use a strong grip instead of a neutral grip?
Big wicked hooks are killing my round. I can draw the ball but, this high 20yd hook lands me in the mine-field and blows my game right-up. I agree - I sometimes let my shoulders get ahead of my legs giving me a path from out to in
other than calling us "HOOKERS"... VERY good advice :)
Hey mark, i recently got back into golf (14 handicap) i used to never hit left I'm not necessarily hooking just going left! @ian, stand further away from the ball the longer the iron is. The closer you stand the faster the club gets ahead of your hips.
am going to give it a shot. You described my problem to a tee.
Excellent instruction
This definitely helped solve my hook
thanks bro this helped a lot.
Fantastic vid, esp the third tip!!! Thanks :)
What is the proper club path away from the ball if trying to cure a hook?
Fascinating...my instructor blames everything on head movement,...its bollocks. This is exactly what i need an intelligent appraisal of what is actually going on in the swing.
Everything he told you applies for all your clubs driver is just harder to hit because it's the longest
Love this vid, but still can't get my head around an open club face and 'in to out' swing path causing a hook!?
No, closed face and in to out
does this work if your driving and the ball litaraly lands 100 meters to your left and almost behind where you stated i guss the only way to discribeit woul be the ball does whata boomerang does in a alf moon shape
So if holding it too much in the right fist causes a hook, could my slice be caused by holding my club too much in the fingers of my right hand?
I have a severe hook/pull hook with my woods and hybrids but my irons tend to be ok.
I have a pretty neutral grip with my right hand well on top of the left.
How can I stop this horrible pull hook? It's really killing my game.
fantastic... great info. thanks
Thanks for the nice tips. :-)
Does it work when the heat is on ?
I'm having to hold the club off so much to not hook (with the face wide open)... and just hit big pushes. Only thing I can play right now ☹️
I have a serious urge to hit the range NOW and try this, but it's 11:09pm :(
The frustrating thing is, my shots used to be high right, it's only in the last four months I've started hooking left. But my driver still goes high right. Help me please 🙏
