  • The Chase Sanborn Signature Models from GR Mouthpieces were designed as a ‘matched set’ solution to the myriad playing situations faced by a studio or session trumpet player. It consists of four contrasting cups for trumpet, plus coordinating models for flugelhorn, cornet and piccolo trumpet, producing a wide array of tonal colors while maintaining a similar feel across the full line. CS mouthpieces are the result of a 25-year collaboration between Chase Sanborn and Gary Radtke (GR), which was the focus of the previous episode.

This video, the third in a series of three, is a demonstration of the models in the CS Signature Mouthpiece line from GR. Questions or comments are welcome and encouraged!

For anyone on the fence about purchasing and using the 6/60 routine I encourage you to buy it. I started using 6/60 in Feb 2023. Since that that time my endurance, range and focus have improved. I suggest also that you read the foreword and afterword before you even play a note of the book. Doing so will answer many questions you have and of course the videos are a wonderful resource too.
Thank you Chase for helping me get myself back in shape and improving too

Thank you so much for the video. What would be the difference between this CS 66 model and the 66M?
Will the fact that it is golden have significant changes in sound compared to silver?

If the designation on an older mouthpiece is CS66 (the original GR-CS model), that is the equivalent of the CS66MS today. The CS66M by comparison has a larger cup volume producing a less-bright and potentially more resonant tone quality. Many players will find the high register more responsive on the CS66MS. Even more so on the CS66S, but not all players can play a mouthpiece that shallow without the lips touching the bottom of the cup. The CS66MS has enough cup volume for almost all players.
The difference between gold and silver is more about feel than sound. Gold tends to feels smoother on the lips, which might be felt as softer. There is also, of course, an aesthetic appeal to gold which stands out as a higher-end finish.
Further detail can be found in Episode #5.
