Got my 2010 rdx hondata reflashed with you guys, a basic tune wakes up these turbo k series motors. Such an underrated vehicle with a lot of potential. Would love to see how a 2019+ rdx with the detuned type r motor does with a reflash
How did this process go? I went to a local shop to Inquire on what to get done and they basically talked down to me. Told me every turbo doesnt need a tune, its an SUV. Probably cuz im a woman🤦🏾♀️
@@BeingNicc Buy Hondata for 2010 Acura RDX take it to a local known reputable Honda focused Tuner that’s familiar with ivtec tuning. Or maybe hit RCautoworks for a etune(tune over internet in simple terms).
Im dyno tuning my rdx on flex fuel. I assume it is possible to put it on a 2wd dyno (dyno jet) by removing rear drive shaft? Putting it back on after the tune. Any complications with by-passing the sh-awd system by doing this?
I had a 08 RDX and added Hondata reflash, ETS intercooler, heatshield gasket, and K/N air filter. The extra power, lower turbo spool rpms, and more PSI boost made the RDX easier to drive and it also improved the mpgs 1-2 combined. Doing a 1st CAT delete and adding a downpipe right after the turbo will also see big hp/tq gains along with improved mpgs.
@@RCautoworks Yes, I did everything over 12 years ago living in NM (always passed emissions testing). The RDX is still on the road today with +200,000 miles. I handed down the 08 RDX to my daughter back in 2019. I've had the usual issues like cracked radiator, leaky P/S pump, and iVtec changeover solenoid going out, or needing struts/shocks. Overall, the engine/trans/sh-awd has been solid and no issues with the electronics, navi system, or ELS stereo.
@@kyletheav8r667 I was part of a Group Buy I did on Acurazine forum about +10 years ago. Some 1st Gen RDX owners still are looking for others to do another Group Buy for the intercooler on that site. ETS might make X amount of intercoolers if they get enough folks.
Question for you. I am attempting to do a K23-K24 Frankenstein build as a budget style turbo tune. K23A1 is a one of a kind and it's block doesn't hold on to any other transmission other than the RDX Automatic, so tuners and the mod community don't touch it. However, a recent video on the channel Vtec Academy did 2 teardown videos of the k23A1 and found that the head will bolt on to any kseries and that the rods are bigger than even a TSX and will fit on a k24 piston. The bore is the same as a k20. The oil pump is larger and may be able to be bolted right on a k24. The injectors are higher quality as well. Best part is that, K23s are CHEAP used. (I found one with turbo and all with 87k for $600) so it's a great budget build. My question is: With the K23 head, would it be best to use the OEM computer control, if it's on the k24block, or can I use a turbo preset flash for the K24 with a Ktuner, or would a full custom mapping be required? Because the RDX computer has the transmission controls built in, would that cause a problem in attempting to test drive the car with the K24 block and a manual transmission? Would it even be able to start up on the K24 block? The bore is 87mm on the K24 while it's 86 on the K23. I'm not savy on tunes, so I don't know if it would even be safe to startup the thing under those conditions. For reference, the Block is from an 04 Honda Element (K24a4) left over from a swap I did. I am planing on building this engine with the K23A1 (08 RDX) head and dropping it back into my Element. I'm not aiming on high end speed racing, I want low end torque to make my element more of a truck with better tow capacity and four-wheel drive light off-roading.
@@RCautoworks oh well yeah I'll have to Dyno it! But I'm asking if using the RDX computer just to start it up at home would be safe despite being in a K24 block with the larger bore size and all...
I’m pretty sure the element is factory k24. Your far better off getting a turbo set up for it and going from there. You’d make a lot more power than what you’d have to do with the factory turbo Kseries here. I think this is a k23 but I’m not completely sure. Either way keep your motor and turbo it. They good for mid 400s for the most part
RCautoworks, do you still dynotune acura rdx 2.3l turbo? If so, I'd like some information on your shop and whatnot and potentially bring my 2010 rdx to you guys once I have some parts ready to install and get dyno tuned. BTW, yes I am local, from Oakbrook Terrace. Based on your channel name, looks like you're in Chicago.
Depends on who is doing it, all you need is a flashpro which is $690 or the flashpro license which is $390. Most tuners are around $400 for the actual dyno tune.
Dear Rcautoworks, My name is Ben and I live in WI. I Looked you up and it says your in Illinois? Could you please get in contact I would like furture info and to make appointment?
Just did my tune here in SoCal. My tuner uses dynomite packs. He tried using awd but had to change to fwd only based on the vectoring and such. Anyhow, pulled the VSA/ABS fuse in the engine and pulled the SHAWD fuse from inside the cab.
yes it was 100% stock at that time, ONLY the flashpro tune was done. NOW I have a cold air intake, bigger injectors, oem turbo upgrade, front mount intercooler, RV6 downpipe making 340whp and 350wtq at 19psi
@@josedaniel9656 it is a custom fmic. No company makes any kits for these cars. ETS made a top mount but no longer existent unless someone sells a used one
There’s a guy with a tuned rdx somewhere with a k20 head making 500+ on the stock auto trans. The rear end doesn’t really like anything over high 300+ from what I remember
Those are some nice gains for just tuning. That torque curve is alot nicer and less spikey. I bet it feels alot better.
Thank you
