Been on a Motown binge lately, and after repeated listenings I think Kim was the most talented of the Hitsville female vocalists. She was their Aretha -- power, dynamic range, and so much SOUL! #queen
I loved her rendition of "Take me in your arms", I was really bummed when they didn't play it after the Doobies version came out. I love the Doobies too but I love Kim's version more.
45 years after this performance on British TV's Ready, Steady Go, Kim Weston is back in the UK at the O2 in London next month (October) as part of a long bill of soul stars assembled by David Gest.
"A Little More Love" is one of my favorite songs of all time, and this is a classic performance. It's a shame it wasn't in color. Kim Weston is so beautiful and has such a fantastic voice!
Wow! I love this song, among many other songs by Ms. Weston, but this is the first time I've ever seen her perform...what a treat! This post is greatly appreciated!
Kim Weston has the greatest voice from the classic Motown period but was not promoted but for us true music lovers that voice and talent jumped out at us...A Thrill A Moment was the first to catch me and as a result have everything this incredible singer has ever recorded and the post Motown recordings are really amazing & need to be released on cd...this lady is a legend!!!
This is a great song. I never heard this cut before. Motown made so much good music back in the day but a lot never got released. This is fantastic and Kim looks great!
The 45 (Tamla 54106 released 6th November 1964)) was withdrawn in the US. Kim recorded a new vocal but it was never released. In the UK the original remained on the market!
Wow! I've never heard of her. If it weren't for UA-cam, which can be aggravating many times because of dogged copyright issues, I would never have discovered her! From the 60s even. : )
Thank you for the explaination about the rarity of this single. What was the reason for it being withdrawn? And was the song a big hit for Kim Weston in the UK? I am sure it would have been a great single for her , if had remained on the market, dare I say just as big a hit as "Take Me in Your Arms and Rock for a Little While".
It sounds like the usual critique about Motown and Barry Gordy. I know my parents were not into Motown music that much, because of what you said about the hitmaking mentality of Gordy.
I've got a Canadian Tamla, that looks almost exactly like the US issue. I've been looking for The US copy ever since it was out, but never found it (and I've looked through literally millions of 45s over that period. I could have bought one for $500 to $900, a handful of times. But that's way too much money for a record of which I already have 3 copies (also UK Stateside and UK Tamla-Motown EP).

Beautiful. What a voice.
What a powerful vocal!
Soul music just as soul music should be. Love it. Night and Day.

Agree totally! We need Kim on MGM, Banyan Tree, and her full output on Volt!
I almost forgot her lp, Big Brass Four Poster on People. Great LP!
one of my favorite Kim Weston songs. she has a great voice. motown really messed up her career.
Thank you for putting this performance/song by Kim Weston back on. I missed it and I really love this song. Thank you again.

@bobbywinterz She is sho nuff a doll baby, and can sing too!
I think Paul McCartney introudcues her.
This is a great song and was quite popular in the UK. Anyone got a Tamla copy???

Even if she doesn't have as distinctive a vocal or star presence as Mary Wells or Barbara Lewis or Diana Ross, she is a terrific singer.
Hah! It took me a moment to figure what was wrong with this picture. LOL
I saw a tamla copy on ebay whre the asking price was $900. I wonder why the record is so rare?
motown was blessed with one of the greatest group of female singers a record company could have. gordy should have compensated his artist better.
1964 Tamla
