@@motorgearhead that's not legal to hunt deer with here, but if it was I see no performance reason not to use it. They kill by blood loss which is best with deep penetration n an exit. I'd be surprised if that didn't exit a rib shot n deflate both lungs
see with this rifle, you can actually shoot .308 and upto .310 even. go to gt bullets or graff and sons and get you some solid lead projectiles from them. i know this airgun although never shot one. it has great power. hmmm let me think, cause a .284 wont work in your airgun here. you need a .308 i bet graff and sons/metalic reloading/riflebullets will have something just up your alley, just look for lhc(lead hard cast, or lhp(lead hollowpoint) but stay away from the jacketed stuff and the xtp reload bullets. try something in the 130-140grain weight and you will find satisfaction. but tell those people to make a magazine for that rifle k. thanks. i wont buy one untill it has a mag.
Thanks for the comment. I usually resize to .309 but the rifle will shoot at .310 although I haven’t really tested it at that diameter. The mp mold is actually a .311 mold but sized down to .309. I cast almost 100% of what I shoot in this rifle. I’ve played with jacket bullets but my results have been significant reduction in velocities with them. Lead is faster. And pure lead is faster than wheel weights. Not by much (about 20 fps) in this rifle based on testing. There is a video of results on my page with group comparisons at 100 yards. I’ll look into the under sizing concept although it runs counterintuitive to everything I know about shooting cast bullets for accuracy. That said we sometimes learn things that we don’t expect to see or learn. Thanks for the comment in if you have other suggestions, feel free to share.
Mines 457 lss. I also shoot slugs I cast but much heavier. Accuracy is slightly better with pure lead, but I'm mostly hunting with it so I use alloy for deeper penetration at the cost of expantion. The slugs I got from my friend shot better than anything else I've tried. Really no need for a mag when used for hunting. You might look at a 9mm or 30 edgun leshey 2. They have a magazine n are apparently very accurate, n not overly long. Not sure about power, but may suit your needs a bit better. Hope that helps n you have a great week
@@motorgearhead yeah. i heard all about the texan from my caster friend in washington. those airguns use true calibers and it is different than what i am used to. because the aea guns .30cal is actual .301 and it has trouble with anything over .304 so if i stuck your lead into my gun it would not go all the way down the barrel. and my lead is sub caliber for your gun. so wipe away everything i said based on caliber because yours is different than mine. hmmm, i would have to know the weight of lead you can shoot and get 671fps.to know the energy of the guhn.. guess knowing the fpe of that 131gr there would be a good start, but pretty sure the gun can shoot a higher energy than 131. donot shoot 7mm out of that airgun. the only reason it works in mine is because my airgun is because the rifleing in mine likes .298. so .284 is only .015 off from that divided by 2 that is a deviation of .007 and with a 2 inch long projectile that slides being copper jacketed it is still accurate, but none of that information would work for that airgun. . hmmmm yo could get decent projectiles that are lead from GT BULLETS. their .30cal is .308-.31 and you get to choose which when ordering, but shipping is slow for them at the moment. course that is lead the size you need and weights you will like. i do not think there is a sub caliber projectile for that caliber of airgum. so never try a jacketed projectile out of it.
@@AIRGUNZ_MILITIA - I’ve used mold as large as .314 and resized the slug to .309. I just recently bought sizing bushings (NOE) to size at .310 and .311 for testing purposes, but haven’t tried them out yet. I’ve stopped trying out others peoples bullets in this rifle as I’d just rather cast my own and I’ve got some good mold that print 1.5” or less on an average day at 100 yards and under 4” at 200. The exception to using other peoples ammo is on sub 100 grn slugs. I’ve got several sub 100 grn molds but my gun doesn’t like their slugs. However, NSA & AVS 70ish grain offerings do very well. My best accuracy “target” slug is a .309 - 120 grn round nose mold made by Lee. I’ve had groups go just above MOA at 100 yards untethered. Think best group I’ve got on video is 1.08 MOA for 4 shots off the bottle. The MP sledge hammer makes 264 fpe @ 952 fps. Think you asked about it in last post.
@@tommyrussell1415 giggles, i have a wonderful .35cal aea big bore with a 10shot mag that i never fill completely. and i have the aea .510cal elite and hp max and element max. that element max being my only single load rifle. and i love that one. but i recently took a couple sling mounts that fit to pick rail and a tube of light steel and j b welded the tube to the mounts at an angle so it drops roundball into my breach, then put a spring around the tube and crimped it to cover the tube opening, so when i open my element max breach i touch the spring dropping in a roundball. and the rear of the tube is plugged with rubber. so reloadable at the rear. and i can still use heavy lead and just use the roundball for followup shots. so i have a way to get past the texan single shot thing if i wanted one. but ya know air force airguns is right down the street from me. and extreme big bore of texas is down the street from them. if i was gonna go that rought , i would choose extreme big bore. smiles. leshi2 is underpowered in my opinion. but thanks. i do not have any .457 airguns. but if i was to get one. i believe it would be the bulldog .457 because it has a 3 shot gravity fed mag. that shoots upto 350grain. and tether it to a tank for more than 4 shots. . but i do not see myself ever getting a .457. .51cal lead is heavy enough without multiple clibers of heavy lead. that is why i skipped .45 so i would not confuse the .357 with .51 ever. and i only have one .30cal so pretty much skip that too. so i dont confuse .25 with .35 damn , i just lied, terry sent me his personal .30cal flying tiger semi auto, (it gets the same 55 fpe that the leshi 2 gets haha) so that and my challenger pro that i never shoot anymore are my .30 cals but all my .357 stuff is an inch long or more so there is no confusion there. except those darned 115gr hp i dont shoot and resize to 110gr savage hp. but once i get rid of those 115gr hp i wont have any confusion with my lead. smiles, yeah , i got alot of calibers and several airguns of each caliber that i use. thanks though. enjoy your texan.
