    I second the recommendation on the zip tie toggler anchors! For anyone that doesn’t know, the plastic only holds it long enough to screw. Otherwise it’s 100% metal, so it’s extremely strong. I wouldn’t jump on those shelves, but they are not going anywhere.

    You could also use a doweling jig to drill holes straight & centered.

    We are attempting to do this with half the tools :P -- 3 floating L shelves for the corner above our "battlestation". It will be an "IT IS WHAT IT IS" learn-from-our-mistakes kinda day for sureeeee. This was an INCREDIBLY helpful prep video for us -- the pencil trick and the drill guide are two more life-long DIY hacks in pocket, thank you!

    i see 4 bracket holes per bracket. I assume you did not find wood studs for each hole... correct? If you did not, is that when you used those plastic toggle anchors? Thanks

      Russ added extra structure to the walls before drywall (we had all these walls open to deal with previous renos). So our brackets hit framing at all the screw holes, making them very secure. You can use the drywall plugs but make sure you get high quality ones that can hold the specified weight you think your shelves will be as well for items you plan to put on the shelves.

    Can you pull it out or it is fastened there?

    • @LindiandRuss
      @LindiandRuss  6 місяців тому

      It can be pulled off, its a friction fit so its nice and secure once on the wall.

    Protip these can be be installed vertically directly onto the stud. Make a much sturdier shelf

    • @LindiandRuss
      @LindiandRuss  7 місяців тому

      Vertically works if the shelve was thick enough to cover the hardware (we just didn't want to see the black bracket). We added structure to the walls when we had them open as we knew we were adding shelving. But these are great tips! Thanks so much for watching 🙂

    • @paleface3434
      @paleface3434 7 місяців тому

      Protip; I don’t recommend installing the brackets vertically, it’ll look like shit with the bracket showing. You can buy brackets that are longer with multiple holes to find the studs for a much sturdier shelf.

      Thats the great thing about different types of hardware, each work best for a specific application. This work great for us - I am sure there are different ways to get the job done:) At the end of the day these shelves were sturdy and secure and worked great for our space.

    If the gaps are on the ends? Shouldn’t you cut out the middle of the board. ??

    • @LindiandRuss
      @LindiandRuss  Рік тому

      Scribing worked great for us! had a perfect fit at the end :) The original wall had a wave so scribing was the best way to go for our scenario. Thanks for watching!

      @@LindiandRuss if the gaps are on each end of the shelf and you cut the ends. Doesn’t that make the gap bigger??
