  • This tutorial shows how to make 3 different relatively simple Bangles that might make for good practice and produce a nice result. There are tons of variations possibilities with these, so have fun experimenting! I would categorize these as beginning-intermediate level. The materials for these can vary, but for these ones, I used 12 gauge sterling round wire, 18 gauge sterling round wire, 20 gauge sterling round wire, 10 gauge sterling square wire, and 3/16" fine silver bezel strip in 26 gauge. As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and My-T-Flux from Rio Grande.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others, as I've taught people for most of my life. This hobby turned into a fun side gig for me for years while I taught public school. I love suggestions and hearing about others' experiences. What is your favorite project? What kind of tutorials would you find useful? Scroll down for information on my new Patreon!

I love these. They are great. I have an aunt that I only see at funerals; you know the kind, she's rich, and bangles make me think of her. She wears a bunch of them and they jingle. You can hear her coming. Lol.

😮 Finally, a video that shows it's not a piece of cake to weave wire! I know that as someone constantly does it; it'll become easier, but a little reality for someone who hasn't attempted it is good! 😂 Thank you

I really enjoyed watching this and such perfect timing as I have “bangles on my brain” at the moment and have been wanting to experiment. Thanks for all you do!❤ I would have liked to watch the clean up at the join for the braid. How many solder pallions did you use there? Did you put the pallions at different spots all around? Did it glob up all together? Would have liked to see an up close of that meld as that would be my - gulp spot!

Thanks Swedish Cowgirl! If I remember, I used 3 or 4 bits of solder picked where the wires came together. The finished join was not perfect, but relatively unobtrusive. I didn't have a lot of globbing up on this one. I used pretty small pieces:)

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, technique(s), and where/how to start a jewellery project(s)! They're all awesome!
Do you have any videos where/ in which you discuss/ demo the different types of torches, gas types, and each one's max capabilities? If so, can you please direct me to it or leave a link [within your reply] please? I have a "creme bruleé"/micro torch but am not sure of it's capabilities either... AND there are SOOOOOO many torches/gas set-ups that it's confusing! I have used a mixed gas torch [in a class] but am not sure which gas it was... I THINK it was still butane, but it was similar to the set-up you have here + the big bottles.... HELP PLEASE!!?!! At the moment, I primarily work with silver and gold-filled; sterling (.925); and argentium (either .935 or
.940 ~ not sure because I inadvertantly mixed my older stock [.935]with the newer stock [.940])...🤨🤔
    💜🤙💙🥰💜
    Aloha & Mahalo Nui Loa!

Hello CASHayward! I'm glad you liked the video. I haven't done a specific video comparing torches, as my experience with other torches is limited. The one I use is a Smith Acetylene/air torch. For my beginner groups I have them use Benzomatic propane general torches. Not the best torch for this, but a cheap torch that works well up to a certain size of project. Doing a big cuff or belt buckle would be difficult to get to temperature with these. From my experience, the butane torches just don't produce enough heat to be very effective. Hope this helps a little bit at least:). This early video of mine does discuss torches for beginners: ua-cam.com/video/oS0DcoPTgJo/v-deo.htmlsi=TOaXYRbbvskmuUqm

Isn't pick soldering cleaner. What I mean is it doesn't leave an excess to have to clean up.
