Love your show, I am veteran too....we see things differently because of our conditioning, so i enjoy having you comment on these videos , its all the same stuff I say. Thanks
SAS Selection starts back at a soldier’s own regiment, where he must request through his NCO that he would like to be put forward for selection, this request is then passed to his commanding officer. The initial phase of selection is for the soldier to attend a Special Forces Briefing Course (SFBC). The SFBC runs twice a year, usually over a weekend period. The course is designed to give those candidates who wish to go through selection the chance to taste what life in the SAS is all about. It also gives the SAS the chance to see if they like you. The weekend SFBC course usually starts on a Friday evening when candidates arrive at the SAS base, If the candidate is of the required standard, he can then go onto selection with Sterling Lines, in Hereford. Hope this explains it to you my friend. ⚔️🇬🇧⚔️
Nothing if you pass the tv show, even the guy running the show said “ none of them would pass selection in real life!”. He said come on! We have guys who have been in the military for around 10 years fail.
FIonn Lord That logic doesnt make sense, those who are in special units arent "forged" by prior military experence they are forged by their past, so being in the military vs being a civilian has hardly an advantage when we're talking being qualified for those types of units
Lividbutton there is a podcast on UA-cam by Billingham who explains it all. He said they wouldn’t pass the real selection as you’re up against experienced soldiers.
@@lividbutton2813 Of course it does, where do you think they get the experience from? Stick some of these lads in the military for 7 years and they'll be different men, whos to say they wouldn't pass selection then?
@BarNone 94 I'm in the British Army myself and I've been to presentations by SRR operators telling us what SF selection entails and how to apply. I also know 2 lads that have completed the hills phase, obviously it's brutal but if you are fully committed training up for it and if you have the right mindset it's possible. You're acting like there's no way physically possible for these lads to pass selection when in fact there is.
Very good reality show ... I think it’s just a badge of honour when they pass . The DS’s are brilliant especially Ant Middleton . He was a Para , Marine & SBS. A true elite soldier
The fkin respect I have for SAS MARINES SEALS is immense,Ant tells about going under cover in Iraq n Afghanistan..its incredible to hear what went off in these missions,iv so much respect for them, the bravo two zero mission...just goosebumps stuff man..incredible..just wanna thank all service men n women of UK and US who fought for our safety n freedom in Iraq n Afghan..huge respect
Honestly I've watched every series of SAS who dares wins and I love it I have done no training what so ever and couldnt go through it myself but it is good to get an insight of what it takes to get into the SAS. Hats off to them for even giving it a go 👍 and I don't know myself what happen after but I would think they would put it to good use
The format is that they put them through a physical emotional ringer. Survival of the emotionally fittest and losing those who cannot take instruction along the way. From 30 they are whittled down to a handful with a maximin of three passing. When its done in the UK its done in the Hebrides Scotland where is cold and wet. Great Television because it exposes their characters as Ant Middleton and his team of ex SAS veterans dismantle them.
after the course all recruits just go back home, dont think they go on to any other course or training since they havent actually passed the real S.A.S. selection or had any Military experience. Vids are great, keep it up man
Thanks for the review...I am not a military man, but I still realise it is just for TV and from my limited knowledge of the Special Forces I still enjoy the show. They do celebrities on it too..I would like them to give some civilians from other countries a chance to be on it.
Well presented by you,Jameson,... I was in 1966. Back then the military toughness was everywhere. My Canadian MOC was Transport, but we did all the grunt training as if it was our MOC. Reason being if you got over run and landed in a situation where you were required to defend your self and your position, your training becomes very useful.
It’s a great little taster for civilians, watched the show and it’s certainly entertaining, when they have someone undercover who’s served it gives civilians a good reference point.
They go home and that's it in reality none of them would make it through the first 2 days of real selection. There only there for 2 weeks it's entertaining none the less.
I love this channel man. I live in the UK and I aspire to join the SAS and I'm still 14 that's why I have to train every day. No one can know how hard it is going to be.
I remember when i was kid playing call of duty and telling my dad i wanted to be a SEAL or something and he would just look at me and laugh. Now i know why.
This was two season highlights rolled into one. It’s definitely stressful for a civilian...... it ain’t Big Brother or Survivor. I enjoy hearing your point of view Sir.
Highly recommend watching the original who dares wins series. Back when Eddie Stone ran the DS staff and it was presented by Dermot O'lery. He was absolutely brutal, you stutter, you're off the course
S.A.S selection is just the first part of training if your lucky enough pass you will then be put on 1 years probation to see if your can handle it out on ops and if you cant they will kick you straight out.
SAS: is a really good show, all the DS have all been in the military. They know the process. I respect veterans way too much to embarrass them by even thinking I could do what they do. Sure seeing a taste of it but I 1million% couldn't do it. I'd give it a good go if I HAD to but I wouldn't willingly put myself on tv. So much respect for all veterans.
I watched a podcast with Ross Kemp and Billy (one of the ex SAS staff on the show) and he said that on the show they go through about 12 hours of interrogation but in the real selection you go through 36 hours
I just love the U.S. ex military, as well as current serving, you always have good things to say about the British military and programs such as this. As for the finalists, they go go home with pride and there heads held up. As well as the memory that they participated in a very very small segment of British Military experience and survived. I just thank feck that the USA are on our side. Excellent video.
Jamesons Travels . Keep it up buddy 👍 Love the videos. If you want to read more interesting stories look up the SAS when they stormed the Iranian embassy in London in 1980. And the Scottish former SAS soldier called John McAleese who was the leader of that operation. He has a very interesting story and he also lost a son in Afghanistan aswell.
I saw this serie a long time ago. Got damn got respect for these guys. Even it it tv show, it was really though. Thay guys that carried the guy is a beast. respect
This show has really gone downhill. Especially with the celebrity version. It's entertaining but without a doubt dramatised. This one you're watching is pretty good. Love the DS team
It’s good to see an actual marine speculate on the show. I’ve always thought I’d kinda love to give it a go because I like training hard and pushing myself to the end and I think the mental and physical benefits would be worth it. That said I don’t view it as an easy task and never have what you guys do is phenomenal and it’s really incomparable to anything that takes inner and physical strength and it’s inspiring. I’d love to see you on like a joe rogan pod cast just talking about what it takes to be a marine and how hard it actually is. Then maybe people won’t think it’s so easy.
@@JamesonsTravels not one of the great hairy unwashed that pass through this TV show continues onto any UKSF training. You need to have served as a regular in a Brit or Commonwealth unit for 2 years (with a few operational tours under your belt), before you can even think of volunteering for UKSF training (which is strictly SAS, SBS, SRR, a Signals and an RAF/Army hybrid unit). Then it's still down to your boss to give you the thumbs up. They can say no if you're any good, and they want to keep you in your current unit. We did once have 2 reserve units attached to SF - 21 & 23 SAS, but there was a reorg, and they are now considered ISTAR rather than SF units. If anything, it may inspire one or two of the tv participants to give the regs a lash....doubt it though.

I'm glad you realise this is reality, I remember on your last react videos you made some comments on the commando training, made me sad that you may have thought that was what it was actually like.
In SAS selection and training, there is no screaming or shouting, no motivations. You are there because you want to be and you either leave or you’re failed so this isn’t really like selection. It’s more like basic military training
I was in Hereford for a few months and saw some RTI stuff that was happening in an open field. Their instructors are actually kind of comforting like that which, is weird. The guys I was there with was walking us around and we saw the beginning of RTI on our way to the front of the base. Brit: Doc do you guys have RTI in America? Me: yeah we call it SERE though and it sucks. (The buried alive thing is happening at that moment) Brit: is it anything like ours? (My staff sergeant stops and stares, looks up to god and says “thank you for allowing me to be born in America”) Me: you guys are kind of making us look like a bunch of bitches.
No prizes, except for the experience and what you take from it, some of these guys have been of the straight and narrow so it has helped them in that respect.
Yeah from what I know to even have a shot at the SAS selection you need 3-4years of military service. Be it serving in the Scotts or Intelligence Corp all the way to Parachute regiment. Lol most of these guys on the show can’t even strip the L85A3 or A2
They are typically made for easy field stripping...It's part of the design requirement, so just about any boot can be taught how to do it in very little time... I mean you have to be an absolute moron if you can't be taught with minimal time, how to strip a rifle. So bit puzzled why THE thing to mention as far as abilities they lack, would be rifle stripping ???
Watch Mutiny, a re-enactment of the 'Mutiny of the Bounty', 4000miles (I think that's right) in a 23 foot boat with 8 other crew, only oars n sails, crew were from all walks of life. I think that at one time in his life Ant may have been that way, to a point, but I personally would follow this true leader anywhere.
This is nothing like the real SAS selection, although Ant Middleton and his team do a very good job at replicating it..civilians can not replicate what it is to be a soldier because their motives are different than those of a serving soldier who does selection..civilians are mostly doing it for the glory whereas a serving soldier has higher and more realistic motives..the SAS are not looking for glory hunters and will weed them out very quickly during selection..When I was in the forces, I was urged by some comrades to do SAS selection and although I was a good, extremely fit field soldier, I knew that I lacked that "je ne sais quoi" that it takes to do SAS selection.. I have had comrades who joined the SAS and I knew a couple of guys who also failed selection and one that actually died doing selection training and I know from hearing about their personal experiences that you have to be very special indeed to become a member of the most elite and highly trained special forces regiment in the world....
Kamil S man I’m reading this impartially and I just read the comment you’re responding to, I think you’re just off the mark with your response. I can see the OPs point but you don’t.
@Kamil S WTF do you know ?.. your response is stupid..you just think someone joins the SAS only because he has mental and physical toughness?? Mental toughness wouldn't exist without a motive to get you through the immense mental challenges..If that was the case then the SAS would be full of the wrong people which it clearly isn't..
Thank god the first American truly understands this is a TV show 1% of the training if not less, to even get considered for SAS or SBS they must have served seen action and have military experience usually a long record. To answer your question, they win nothing but a respectful handshake from a SBS serviceman which is a reward in itself.

good to see the last bloke cry because he past , sas , navy seals , commandos , ect . we all are still humans and have to deal with a lotta shit in our time on earth , getting older makes me more emotional . Damn mate , never shed so many tears the past years . guess it is coming home to my soul .
they was actually a guy that went on here and lied about being in the paras. He put it on his CV but he only went to training and never passed out. Great video 👍
Yeah you should watch that clip, one of the DS he was lying to was in the paras and gets legitimately pissed for the stolen valor.
"FUCKING WALTER MITTY!!!!!"
Ant is absolutely terrifying in that clip - that's when the mask of civility slips and you see the trained Killer come through.
Thanks for your comments JT. Always humble, always insightful. Keep truckin' mate!
Ex British soldier here. Seen the program in the UK, when they pass nothing happens they can just say they have done a weeks pre sas training.
I seen this program, plenty people outside of the forces, do this stuff naturally.
Your mind is number one.
Your physical fitness is super important.
This is currently a show made of civilians with ex special forces instructors
Ant can be called out at any time from what I’ve heard on interviews, he said “I’m signed on for life” and then he went on to talking about how he could until he’s like 70 or something
Fire Cracker that’s Cus many people are turning into snowflakes and don’t understand the harsh reality of the military training
Most of those instructor's are SBS, not SAS
@@keithrobinson9077 Doesn't matter.
Keith Robinson SBS is a detachment of sas
Love your show, I am veteran too....we see things differently because of our conditioning, so i enjoy having you comment on these videos , its all the same stuff I say. Thanks
The pc wokist got Ant and his buddy fired from the show.
The weekend SFBC course usually starts on a Friday evening when candidates arrive at the SAS base,
If the candidate is of the required standard, he can then go onto selection with Sterling Lines, in Hereford.
Hope this explains it to you my friend.

That last part touched me seeing him cry. Brings back memories when I graduated basic combat training.
I've been dreaming of this vid from you! Me and my sister have been watching through the entire back catalogue
mate love that you dont fuck about with intros and straight into it
thanks. i hate long intros that are like network tv. youtube should be fun and different. Not like watching CNN>
Nothing if you pass the tv show, even the guy running the show said “ none of them would pass selection in real life!”. He said come on! We have guys who have been in the military for around 10 years fail.
Some of them definitely have the potential too if they've been in the military for a few years, cant just expect a civilian to pass though
@BarNone 94
I'm in the British Army myself and I've been to presentations by SRR operators telling us what SF selection entails and how to apply. I also know 2 lads that have completed the hills phase, obviously it's brutal but if you are fully committed training up for it and if you have the right mindset it's possible. You're acting like there's no way physically possible for these lads to pass selection when in fact there is.
I like how respectful you are as a marine. Semper fi brother ✌️
Seen both Selection and Who Dares Wins and Who Dares Wins is by far a better show.
This is the best! My favourite UA-cam military channel about my favourite tv show!
A few of them go on to work with mental health charities and workshops
The format is that they put them through a physical emotional ringer. Survival of the emotionally fittest and losing those who cannot take instruction along the way. From 30 they are whittled down to a handful with a maximin of three passing. When its done in the UK its done in the Hebrides Scotland where is cold and wet. Great Television because it exposes their characters as Ant Middleton and his team of ex SAS veterans dismantle them.
I love the one where this guy lied about being a paratrooper and he got ripped to shreds
If there's anything a real ex military man hates.....it's someone who claims to have been in the services but has not!!
Appreciate an honest review from someone who has experience and can relate
I must be living in some back water place not to have seen this. Over coming fears, taking you places to never thought you could go.
great video, pal. you summed it all up pretty well there
after the course all recruits just go back home, dont think they go on to any other course or training since they havent actually passed the real S.A.S. selection or had any Military experience. Vids are great, keep it up man
Thanks for the review...I am not a military man, but I still realise it is just for TV and from my limited knowledge of the Special Forces I still enjoy the show. They do celebrities on it too..I would like them to give some civilians from other countries a chance to be on it.
At the end of the program the just go back to civvie life, the show is basically a test for themselves. It's for bragging rights
Jamalam I remember how much of an event this was when this first came on tv EVERYBODY was talking about it.
well you can always apply for a real SAS training after this and see how you fit in as one of the best special operatives
@@blengdiabloed7335 you cant apply for the SAS, you have to be selected I believe
@@BaffaCake14 idk how it works since im not a special operatives nor i claim to be an expert of it but its just a good assumption i guess
Other marine here watched this same video and with much greater detail than just "whats your problem". He explains things alot better
4:30 ‘what’s this guys problem’ lmao
Well presented by you,Jameson,... I was in 1966. Back then the military toughness was everywhere. My Canadian MOC was Transport, but we did all the grunt training as if it was our MOC. Reason being if you got over run and landed in a situation where you were required to defend your self and your position, your training becomes very useful.
I just found this channel today. Watched all the ffl episodes. I like listening to your input. Just subscribed
Welcome aboard!
Good luck, I hope you realise your dream, stick at it, don't give up
It just like a British recruit course for every stranded soilder. Made for tv for your general pushy life
I'm not ex forces but I like your channel, and your commentary . Top notch ! Hi from the U.K.
I remember when i was kid playing call of duty and telling my dad i wanted to be a SEAL or something and he would just look at me and laugh. Now i know why.
You can be whatever you want if you work for it
This was two season highlights rolled into one. It’s definitely stressful for a civilian...... it ain’t Big Brother or Survivor.
I enjoy hearing your point of view Sir.
This dude is actually cool most us marines say that’s hard and all but they always say America has got the best forces which isn’t true but this guy 🔥
They do have the best forces. Hope this helps 👍
@@SK-kh2rs they have a good force but sas is better not being bias it’s just facts
@@elijahglew2908 you clearly don't know the definition of the word 'facts'. SAS scrapes in the top 10. I'll give them that
Highly recommend watching the original who dares wins series.
Watched a few episodes of this. Seems some of the bigger tougher guys break before the little ones. Good to see people overcome
Rip John Mac
SAS: is a really good show, all the DS have all been in the military. They know the process. I respect veterans way too much to embarrass them by even thinking I could do what they do. Sure seeing a taste of it but I 1million% couldn't do it. I'd give it a good go if I HAD to but I wouldn't willingly put myself on tv. So much respect for all veterans.
I watched a podcast with Ross Kemp and Billy (one of the ex SAS staff on the show) and he said that on the show they go through about 12 hours of interrogation but in the real selection you go through 36 hours
24-33hrs of stress positions and white noise. 1-3 hrs of interrogation
@@trotskyite1 that all comes under the 'interrogation phase'
@@John-kr7iz sounds about right
I just love the U.S. ex military, as well as current serving, you always have good things to say about the British military and programs such as this. As for the finalists, they go go home with pride and there heads held up. As well as the memory that they participated in a very very small segment of British Military experience and survived.
I just thank feck that the USA are on our side. Excellent video.
Always will be on your side. Your our brothers.
Also I don’t think they actually get given anything, it’s just literally they pass and that’s it.
Wow!! what a series and great commentary and analysis.. thank you
Love your reactions lol “what is this guys problem” 😂😂
thanks brother. i keep it real as possible on youtube without getting the boot.
Thay guys that carried the guy is a beast. respect
We’re currently watching the celebrity version of SAS Who Dares Wins!🙂
It’s so bad it is hilarious.
@@abefroman8202 Agreed but it just a TV show
stretford reds. Unfortunately this is what passes as entertainment nowadays.
Abe Froman hey if it makes money it makes sense right 😀
Mustang 679. I would rather nail by ball sack to the table.
This is a top show. The prize is at the end is knowing yourself better than u did before you started it
This show has really gone downhill.
You should do a reaction to Australian sasr or commando training. Would love to see it. Like your reactions man they seem straight to the point.
I have one on the commandos coming out.
@@JamesonsTravels can't wait for your honest opinion man, gay message back champ👍
Sorry champ that was meant to say fast message back🤣
@@JamesonsTravels not one of the great hairy unwashed that pass through this TV show continues onto any UKSF training.
Respect your patience and insights on this.

I'm glad you realise this is reality, I remember on your last react videos you made some comments on the commando training, made me sad that you may have thought that was what it was actually like.
Problem is to join the specials you have to already be in the military and badass. So civilians wouldnt be able to apply anyway. Show is unrealistic
In SAS selection and training, there is no screaming or shouting, no motivations. You are there because you want to be and you either leave or you’re failed so this isn’t really like selection. It’s more like basic military training
All the instructors on that show are ex SBS except the grey haired guy who is ex SAS
SERE is an element of UK special forces selection,SERE is also taught to the RAF by members of the SAS,as well as other regiments.
(The buried alive thing is happening at that moment)
Brit: is it anything like ours?
(My staff sergeant stops and stares, looks up to god and says “thank you for allowing me to be born in America”)
Me: you guys are kind of making us look like a bunch of bitches.
No prizes, except for the experience and what you take from it, some of these guys have been of the straight and narrow so it has helped them in that respect.
It's more of a personal victory I think.
Loved his feedback - honesty
There is no prize apart from knowing that you survived a small fraction of what britains most elite soldiers go through in training
They only think they know.
This is a great TV show. I watch it every year without fail.
I like it as well. Hate these typically. The better of the bunch.
@@JamesonsTravels. Ant did a great limited series called Mutiny. Where he recreated the voyage of Captain Bligh. Def worth a viewing
4:40 lol! Spoken like a true soldier
My missus like all the other instructors apart from Ant Middleton. She thinks he's got a real sadistic streak in him that makes her feel uneasy.
Probably because he killed so many during his sas time lol
Pretty much the point though is to see how much punishment people can tolerate.
Uneasy down below
