Sorry, I just couldn't stand the discrimination for this video. This video is for a great Chinese swimmer who broke the world record. We should congratulate him, not bad talk all Chinese people. Sun Yang is such an amazing swimmer :D
Commentator says the bilateral breath before the turn is to check out Cochrane. Not so. He's taking extra breaths to limit the oxygen debt through the turns. Brilliant strategy. Small time cost at each turn, but probably more than compensated for by having extra gas between the walls and especially as the race goes on.
And another interesting thing is he only does 1 butterfly kick after he turns unlike other swimmers doing 2 or 3, plus what u said before, this gives him a great oxygen storage benefits
This is the sort of performance that is truly difficult to comprehend...He is going ludicrously fast while looking effortless in the water. Just beautiful swimming, and what a monstrously efficient catch he has?!
T I is just a way for unbalaced swimmers to learn balance in the water. it's not a "different" technique of some sort, it's just like a catch up drill...But they decided to transform it into some "new way of swimming" lol...sun yang uses a hip driven technique, what fascinates me is that his powerful kicks come right after initiating the catch, which is something we are not accostumed to see, normally the powerful kicks either in 2 beat 4 beat or 6 beat kick, come at the end of the pull..
What "drug" thing? The heart medication? That has been UN-BANNED from the substance list since then. The vial-smashing because the sample collectors had fake credentials, and one of whom was illegally present because he was only a construction worker and a "friend" of the supposed sample collectors? Still no evidence of any "drug" thing. That's why ALL of Sun Yang's records and gold medals still stand even to this day.
2 Beat kick...head Totally immersed....very very strealine and long body...very little bubbles...slower hand turnover....Very similar technique to Total Immersion....
"a lot of people think he's cheating" no doubt he is. he tested positive in 2014 so when he smashed the vial, he didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. and lmfao at the idea of a middle distance swimmer in their prime at 36. the 200 is finally progressing after the stagnation of the finals times since 2012. there were 3 swimmers who were faster than sun yang last year, the oldest one being danas rapsys, a 25 yo who went faster than sun yang's life time best. the 400 will simply be too long for sun yang at that age. his grounds for appeal (which in itself is an appeal of the result of an appeal) are flimsy, as they are solely his shitty translator who he hired. sun yang is done
height is surely helps, but actually helps more for the short range competition, for the long range one, a lot of swimmer actually smaller than sprinting swimmer, but basically at long range technique is play a larger part than else, so either small swimmer or tall guy can do well
I can't wait for him to recover and compete in Paris2024. What happened was unfair. Though he could have reacted better but it's frustrating. Those who went to his house was not able to present proper identification and one of which was just a plumber. It's okay if it's just urine but there are needles involve to take his blood. You don't allow just anyone to do that. The Australians was caught doping but they were only penalized for 12 months.
Taking what you said into consideration, if you swam against Sun Yang in this race and had double the amount of strokes that of Sun you should of passed him breaking the world record yourself BUT that is impossible therefore contradiction to your original assumption. It is possible for a slower stroke to beat a faster one if he uses the angle and the power put on pulling the water more efficiently.
He doesn't have a longer glide, he's always pushing himself forward, he just has extremely long arms that makes it look like he's gliding instead of pushing, probably longer than Cochrane
I'm Korean and I'm upset that Park Tae Hwan lost, but I want to congratulate Sun Yang. There is no doubt that he's a great swimmer and he deserves to win.
Im here 8 years in the future and i am from the faroe islands so i am upset that pál joensen got comebacked in the end so he became number 4 with no medal
yooo chill with the insults ... either way around, only lowers your own standards, whats with this... both Sun and Park are amazing swimmers and respects Olympic spirit which allows no name calling either way. We spectators who doesnt even endure all those hard trainings should simply congratulate whoever that wins.... some of the comments below are just unbelievable
Huh? You're the one contradicting your own statement. It's not an assumption, it's observation. And Sun Yang did have slower stroke than Cochrane which is pretty clear other than the last lap. Plenty has answered my questions too.
Sun Yang laughed for his heats result, not for Park,Park is not so important for Sun as u thought !!! Plz Stop Ur YY (which means Obscenity in English) !!!
she meant how fast could he go if he wasnt keeping so much for the last 100m. im sure that if he would have swam next to Grant Hacket when he did this WR he probably would smash the WR even more.
For those looking for a similar stroke, he draws from the Total Immersion technique: totalimmersion.net/ I have no connection with these folks, other than I use their product to enjoy my daily swim - albeit a bit slower....
One hack of the kick...Amazing!! Sun trained 100 km a week and it all come down to just this WR. His last 100 m is 54 sec and the 50 m is 26.9. Wow! Train hard and stay focus Sun. Can't wait to see him race again in London 2012 Olympics.
Two things amazed me: 1. Sun Yang barely kicked his legs, just dragging along compared with other competitors who was kicking vigorously! But he still leading all the swimmers! 2. After a long tiring swim, he still can speed and acheived 25.9 second for the last 50 meter! This is contributed by his inherited body shape, hard work and excellent technique! Unfortunately his acheivements not recognized by the westerner especially America government! Try all their best to put him in dopping and banned him! What an wicked world!
the glide..... fish would be learning from him
GUESS WHO IS FREE??!?! THE KING IS BACK! SUN YANG!!
LOOK AT HIS TEETH!!!
Sorry, I just couldn't stand the discrimination for this video. This video is for a great Chinese swimmer who broke the world record. We should congratulate him, not bad talk all Chinese people. Sun Yang is such an amazing swimmer :D
beautiful technique...but still a drug cheat.
Yup tell that to his doctor

Marty Zaleski this is a valuable comment!
Indeed
And another interesting thing is he only does 1 butterfly kick after he turns unlike other swimmers doing 2 or 3, plus what u said before, this gives him a great oxygen storage benefits
His last 50m was 25.9! it is unbelievable!!!
He has an extraordinary glide......... travels 2m per arm stroke.
maybe the best race i've ever seen... unbelievable !! The last 50 meters - woooow !!!!
his stroke was so nice, just like skating on the water
Erich Ohain exactly. Like he's just gliding through. So nice to watch.
Not sure why. But every time I watched this, I tend to cry. Truly exciting.
damn that is crazy swimming
Last 50 m he has unvisible propeler, its fake !!!
This is the sort of performance that is truly difficult to comprehend...He is going ludicrously fast while looking effortless in the water. Just beautiful swimming, and what a monstrously efficient catch he has?!

Strength, effieciency, great timing, amazing conditioning, freak-of-nature
Yup amazing things happen when you drug cheat.
@@NatureBoyWooo Nah nothing ever happens for you when you lie.
So smooth, so balanced...
Shame about the drug thing but still the most graceful stroke ever - can watch it endlessly. Thankyou Sun Yang!
What "drug" thing? The heart medication? That has been UN-BANNED from the substance list since then. The talent and victim of Communist China's totalitarian system.
@@twoone7877 You're the tool of Capitalist U.S. totalitarian system.
he's just brilliant, makes it look so effortless!
Great man
He just broke the world record in London Summer Olympics!
2 Beat kick...head Totally immersed....very very strealine and
long body...very little bubbles...slower hand turnover....Very similar technique to Total Immersion....
very effective and efficient strokes!!
good job sunyang. proud of you
I am speechless.. That's amazing!
well... Now he's banned for 8 years and a lot of people think he's cheating. Hopefully, he's still in his prime when 2028 rolls around.
"a lot of people think he's cheating" no doubt he is. he tested positive in 2014 so when he smashed the vial, he didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. and lmfao at the idea of a middle distance swimmer in their prime at 36. the 200 is finally progressing after the stagnation of the finals times since 2012. there were 3 swimmers who were faster than sun yang last year, the oldest one being danas rapsys, a 25 yo who went faster than sun yang's life time best. the 400 will simply be too long for sun yang at that age. his grounds for appeal (which in itself is an appeal of the result of an appeal) are flimsy, as they are solely his shitty translator who he hired. sun yang is done
awesome swim
10:40 "Imagine how fast he could go if he tried the whole way!!" Where do they get these commentators. What the F do you think he was doing lady?
She meant, if he was sprinting
11:56 is this all about fingernails? :D
he swims faster than i can run heheh
Sun Yang's technique is impeccable.
扬我国威
height is surely helps, but actually helps more for the short range competition, for the long range one, a lot of swimmer actually smaller than sprinting swimmer, but basically at long range technique is play a larger part than else, so either small swimmer or tall guy can do well
So he got his gold medal today.
Nice upload man ! Thanks for HD X D
Such a smooth effortless action.....
Sun yang...the person I look up to.
I can't wait for him to recover and compete in Paris2024. What happened was unfair. Though he could have reacted better but it's frustrating. The Australians was caught doping but they were only penalized for 12 months.
love the ending....
Does height really play a very, very important role in swimming??
Yes like long legs in running
It gives you advantage yes but not much
Taking what you said into consideration, if you swam against Sun Yang in this race and had double the amount of strokes that of Sun you should of passed him breaking the world record yourself BUT that is impossible therefore contradiction to your original assumption. dude looks like Yao Ming
Can't wait for the finals!
Sun Yang has talent in swimming ☺️
Yeah, Sun Yang of Chinaaa!☺️

Like a machine... haha
Loll he accidentally said Ian Thorpe's record instead of Grant Hackett's
yooo chill with the insults ... either way around, only lowers your own standards, whats with this... both Sun and Park are amazing swimmers and respects Olympic spirit which allows no name calling either way. farts. thats my theory. fart propulsion.

Congratulations to Sun Yang for dominating the 1500m at London 2012 Olympics!
Australian commentary on a New Zealand broadcast :)
what do you mean Hackett still has the record for the 800 short course
For those looking for a similar stroke, he draws from the Total Immersion technique: totalimmersion.net/ I have no connection with these folks, other than I use their product to enjoy my daily swim - albeit a bit slower....
Ow really?
The effectiveness of his strokes, the streamline movement and his physical makeups combinedly make him the best in what he does ! Pride of China !
From Korea, moved to Hong Kong. Shouldn't be such a difficult concept to understand.
I cannot wait for this kid to swim the 1500M race for this year's Olympics.
well the imperfection of his teeth makes him more human.
Nice, but Sun Yang : 💉💉💉
your account indicates that you are from Hong Kong...
Fanrastic! Easyswim 1500m with 29 sec per 50 lol..
grant hacket will be really nervous right now:) lol
I’m watching this on and on!
(2R,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxyhexanoic acid
he's running out of rice distance -__- WTF!
One of the best front crawls what a stroke. The guy had issues in and out of the pool but one of the greatest hands down
How In the world can they memorize 30 laps?
such a fluid stroke
One hack of the kick...Amazing!! Sun trained 100 km a week and it all come down to just this WR. His last 100 m is 54 sec and the 50 m is 26.9. Wow! Train hard and stay focus Sun. Can't wait to see him race again in London 2012 Olympics.

Lmao that crap has no place in competitive sport. Try again.
He's teeth are so immaculate
his legs are more powerful maybe?
So smooth, so balanced. It’s amazing what drug cheats can do isn’t it?
