I love how Damon is so open about how he feels. Most artists these days just swallow how they feel and spout lies to make themselves look better. But he truly speaks how he feels.
Watching and hearing Damon Albarn makes me want to read more, practice my violin, become aware of the world around me and other people. He just has that effect on me, makes me want to be intelligent. At the risk of sounding like a stupid fangirl, I think I love him
FOR REAL ISTG I have been looking for a comment like this- People don't show him enough love, and I get that Damon Albarn is cool and all, because he is amazing, no duh, but *J a m i e* like- But I love their friendship dynamic, Jamie is like a black cat and Damon is like a golden retriever it's cute
Damon is a highly emotional person but struggles to get through what he feels with words. He tends to ramble while Jamie gets to the point very quickly.
How cool is Damon Albarn?..he could easily smile and wink like any idiot pop star when dealing with the pop culture media we have today, but he chooses to conspicuously show disdain and disinterest whenever interviewed....and rather than just use black or "world music" musicians like most western pop artists do for their own benefit, he highlights them importance and relevance..an angry (but still cool) Damon Albarn makes better music
I think in the friday nights one he had sure, the jr show not so much. He seems like a better host in the jr show than he was in fridays with jr. There were episodes he just wouldn't shut up in, and maybe he just has moments where he's like that. Here he was a jackass interrupting Damon so much, but in general the host has to intervene and push the conversations in different ways for entertainment, to get the person talking more and to tell a story or two, but also to just fill the dead air. I wish Parkinson was still doing his show, he really lets the people speak.
Well it's more so that he is part of that mainstream media in many ways so he cannot go too much against it. Like ok it's not as straight forward but think about Russell Brand who had a radio show with him, Now Today for his yt he shows for everything he says the receits. Media themselves covering something and him opening the info from multiple sources, but he is by the same media he quotes called a conspiracy theorist by and would have zero chance of going back to say hollywood (like yes sure for his firing from radio.. there was a good reason 😂 I get that, but the man is quite toned down from those times in many sense). It's kinda in that vain, Jonathan knows how to keep everyone happyhappy and not stick to hornets nests. He isn't anti-establishment or capitalism in any way but all for it. Even at the radio shows time, you could call it radical but he was kinda side-kicking that aspect and let the fall go on Brand. He was the straight man (and everyone saw you could make money off of Brands wit, he was kinda the guy who would say after Brand yeah let's not go that far you crazy crazy guy). Which is fine, Russell was out of control at the time but I'm jut saying that Jonathan has kinda always been very keeping in mind for who he works for and what to mock and what to not. He is very much so part of certain narratives, people presenting them to the public. Comparing his and Brands paths is kinda perfect way to show it. Also just to note that there was an drug fueled "I don't care" Brand, sober sex addicted finding himself going to hollywood Brand, throwing away all of the not needed excess more mature Brand who has been kinda stuck to a mission (you could say he is now addicted to finding out how things in the world work). With Jonathan Ross there is.. Jonathan Ross. (Edit: just when I continued, Damon asks why doesn't Ross make a series about comics. I knew instantly that Ross thinks that there is no money in it and says he thinks There Is Not Enough of Intrest for it. Then makes exactly that my first tought into a joke which I also was expecting since it was so see-thru. That's who he is, tells so much about him).
Aaaahhh. I have to keep taking breaks because i can't deal with all of this... intense discussion. It's like i can feel the awkwardness coming through my computer screen.
It's actually a speech impediment some people get. Nothing major, but it is something. I actually have it, and I didn't know about jr til way later. Just grew up not being able to pronounce rs correctly
Damon is always so intense, makes for interesting viewing. I agree with what he says about alot of things and I love how he is one of the few people in the entertainment industry that still views this as an artform first and a business second. However he could stand to lighten up just a little bit.
Yeah he does need to lighten up. He's got great views on life, but he can't make or take a joke for the life of him. He seems like that one great friend you have, but if you go out with the lads or have a party and invite him, he just brings down the mood.
Man, I've never seen this talk show host. He is so cool, and I like the cut of his jibb. He really gets his words out quick and understandable at the same time.
I have to agree with Damon about Live Aid - it should have been this universal celebration of music but similar to Band Aid, it just became a way to endorse already established western artists!
It's so refreshing to have a musician that actualy has views that might not be to everyones tastes, i'd rather hear someone like Damon give an opinion even if i dont particualy agree with, than some airheaded bimbo say that they think everyone and everything is amazing.
@tdk2592 : So do I. He viewed a "Talk Show" opportunity as a platform for (big stretch) public discussion about social and arts issues. He discusses a serious problem with appropriate seriousness--he doesn't shirk his responsibility as an artist and person, just because it's not the kind of thing that garners laughs. There's more to art than satire, irony and "yucking-it-up" for the crowds.
@MidnightAndLulu @tdk2592 I totally agree with both of you. I do think that this is something that is missing in society in general. I think pretty much exactly the way Damon does about the things discussed here and about society in general, from what I've heard from interviews. I have to refrain from expressing myself though because most people don't like to think too much about the world we're living in and they feel uncomfortable discussing it. I don't understand why.
Saul Higgins Yup. Damon sounds insufferably entitled. Very contrarian as if disagreeing with everything he hears makes him look smart. These guys really do themselves a favor by hiding behind screens. Good music, but like many celebrities, horrible personality.
I love Jonathan Ross...so far the best host I've come acrossed. We don't get talkshows here except for Oprah and Ellen on free channels. I wish they showed Jonathan Ross here but the humour may be too risque for the conservative media here. They would show half naked models on reality tv shows but not good ol' dry british humour.
It's about the Live8 concerts around the world that were to raise money for Africa. But they didn't invite any African people or musicians to perform at these concerts.
Damon Albarn is so right about Live 8. i think it was ridiculas as well. That is not real charity. Charity should be somthing where you don't get anything in return. Just give them the money, don't fuck about with stupid big expensive shows.
Jonathan’s right, the aim was to raise money for charity for ppl in extreme poverty, it wasn’t PR for Africa. Having African stars there could potentially have turned ppl off from donating and made ppl think these ppl weren’t as destitute as they were, and shifted the focus. Yes it’s political but that doesn’t raise money for charity, you think their govt should be doing better. Damon was right too, but he’s an artist, he doesn’t seem to see the money even in this case, bc he doesn’t do it for money.
No jonathannisnt right he is racist how is showing African artists displaying that Africa is doing okay, because Africans want to sing that means they don't need help? Listen to what your saying. They don't put black singers because the west is racist can't stand to look at black people on their screen for to long, they have to keep it white and merry. That's the truth
@marili5770 I didn't know Damon is so hot..I've listened to a few songs from Blur and Gorillaz but I didn't now he's such a cutie. And I like his stance on big charity shows.
i got the feeling that jonathan ross is somewhat turn on by damon. he's constantly licking his lips and cannot take his eyes off him :p and look where jamies arm at! behind damons seat, that is a gesture of intimacy. :OO
Damon says what we're all thinking: "John just shut up."

i feel the exact same.
Grow up

it's cute
I love them both but I think Jamie is better at explaining his feelings than Damon is
I agree, but I relate to the frustration Damon must feel by not being able to completely express his feelings, because that happens to me all the time
Damon is a highly emotional person but struggles to get through what he feels with words. He tends to ramble while Jamie gets to the point very quickly.
@@lizguillot6824 omg yes, i have so many feelings and it’s hard to put into words
He explains it in the songs
Damon acts so serious, it's adorable !

Jonathan learnt that the hard way.
Beamkatana Blazerose lmao this made me laugh.
I like it when Jonathan Ross has guests like these where they actually have intelligent conversations.

Johnathan doesn't really care about the answers...He just like to hear his own voice! Damon is far too intellectual for him...x
