This interview was a little intense--conflicting opinions flying everywhere. Still, it wouldn't have been right for Damon to have lied just to please others. I'm glad he shared his true thoughts. I'm also glad Jonathan eventually got a haircut after this.
About Crazy Frog: Damon: "It was a nice bit... a little bit of anarchy, but you know, unfortunately it just became too much." Jamie: "Do you notice how they- they started pixelating out his penis when he became popular?" Jonathan: "No, I think only you noticed that..." LOLOL. Gotta love that comic artist. :D
Watching and hearing Damon Albarn makes me want to read more, practice my violin, become aware of the world around me and other people. He just has that effect on me, makes me want to be intelligent. At the risk of sounding like a stupid fangirl, I think I love him
Jonathan's way of responding to every word with his own opinions/jokes and Damon's way of kind of struggling to find the exact right words to express his thoughts don't quite go together. There's more of Jonathan in this Gorillaz interview than actual Gorillaz.
Yes, I agree, but I must say it is too, hard to find a better interview. Good to see Damon and Jamie having a relaxed chat (not a interview to dig opinions) in front of the public, I thought. Excuse me for my probably messed grammar by the way since I'm Japanese.
I thought Jonathan is joking deliberately, knowing he's being a bit rude to men who he shouldn't, but still doing it since that's what he can only do. And Damon knows it, so he silently accepts it, and he's still having fun because Jonathan is still a amazing character. Well, that's what I thought. This was even a heart warming show for me. Literally.
Damon is right, we need to get rid of x-factor. It's a show for people who can sing decently, but can't make success by them selves. So they take the easy way. I mean, there are SO much people that have a decent/good voice. TONS of em'. And I think it's a shame that people with actual talent are being blocked by x-factor winners and women who sing about booties.
+DarthDuckTV the irony is that it's just as easy for an artist to record a song and send it to a record label, in fact if anything it's easier than it used to be, best example i can think of that shows this is how Chris James, the guy who did the vocals for The Veldt by deadmau5, ended up becoming a vocalist for that song. in short the guy recorded his vocals onto a work in progress version of the track that deadmau5 released on soundcloud, chris then tweeted the song with his vocals on it to deadmau5, deadmau5 who i think was doing a Q&A stream at the time noticed the tweet (with a little help from the fans) and practically in an instant decided to skype the guy and they started talking about making it a collaboration, Chris unfortunately seems to have dropped off the radar a bit recently but it's still crazy to think of how quick the process was.
Was a good show. Three men, having a good chat. Was really enjoyable. Can't run into this quality often. Damon supposedly a bit indigested through this chat, but showed me how amazing he is. I became about ten meters deeper fan of this band.
He is not to serious. He made his point in the interview about how being in Blur sometimes he felt like a being cartoon character and thats why he created Gorillaz. And when Jonathan Ross asked him to sit in his chair he wanted to make a joke out of him. He's a talented musician, not a entertainer. And I love that he stood up for himself and separated himself from the bull shit that celebrities have to go through these days, its not about talent anymore its about entertainment and shock value.
Notice how quickly Albarn stood up to leave at the end? Heh. I actually started watching this interview (part 1) thinking they were both coming across as grumpy arrogant pricks, but as it went on I warmed up to them. Albarn's basically a serious musician doing a fluffy TV interview, and rolling his eyes at the bullshit that comes with it (and I agree with just about everything he said about Live 8, Cowell, etc). And Hewlett, oddly enough, almost seemed like the more media savvy of the two.
I agree with Damon, though I see Jonathan's point about not attracting enough people to Live 8 if they do not have the popular bands. I love Jonathan Ross's interviews, but maybe he should let the artists talk more. Poor Jamie, he must've felt really uncomfortable during this interview. :s
"Wouldn't it be great if we could've had the cartoon characters here on the show?" If I was asked that at an interview like this, you'd love my reaction.
I like the gorillaz I really do Is it just me that thinks that Damon is a little off or something?i dunno too serious about something's? He seems intelligent though but yeah the gorillaz rockkkkk
Damon doesn't try to please people, he says what he believes and too bad if people don't agree, he's serious about issues he believes should be taken seriously and jokes when it's not, he is everything that american celebrities aren't and that's why I love him and his work
I love Damons views on things and i think it was easy to see...he doesn't like Jonathan Ross very much :3 Still, i love Damon, i just think he is realy awesome as a person AND 2D of course
@ColdShaun I can't believe you are the only one to say this - he is either stoned or pissed. I loved him and jonathon having a debate re live aid - like 2 guys in a pub getting fired up. Don't understand why people think they don't like each other - maybe some just don't get british humour - we like to wind each other up
Things have changed, they have become worse! You could float the Ark Royal on the amount of manufactured pop shite coming at us from all angles now. Damon is really inspirational, especially the part where he says not everything you do has to be commercial. :)
Actually, Damon tends to interrupt himself, many times, and I feel sorry for Jamie, maybe he does it not on some bad purpose but cause of his hyper emotions coming through.
@MegaRexita No. Damon is the one without the beard. The musician. He is on the left side of the sofa. Jamie has a beard and is on the right side. (looking at the screen)
@MissusFingerBottom @MissusFingerBottom No, he's actually really funny. You should watch Bananaz - it seems to give a better indication of what he's like. It's kinda hard to judge from interviews because he hates them. But to be fair, I don't think he's too uptight in this interview. I agree with everything he's said, and I really admire him for having the courage to stick to his opinions. Not enough people do that.
@boatofcoins I noticed that, too. Jamie seemed a little uneasy and seemed to be on Jonathan's side out of lack of nerves. If I was Damon, I'd be a tad bit pissed.
I don't understand the attacks to Johnathan Ross. As Damon eve saiud he is the entertainer. Damon by nature seems to take himself a little too seriously and Ross was exploiting it so that the show didn't become dull. Also Ross's point that you need alot of famous bans to increase attention and so money for a live 8 charity event is completely fair. There is certainly a line between the art and economics of the concert and Damon seems to be a lil close minded and militant to the one side.
@RATMfan92 XFactor, if you're not from the UK then things like American Idol. The obsession with celebrity, it's the focus of so many people's lives and the sooner we get rid of it the better.
is Damon always so uptight? Although he did laugh a lot at some point... this is the first time I'm watching Damon in person, I've only heard him in some songs
Thats because Crazy frog was a bit of fun taking the piss out of the industry while X factor actually pretends to be serious and pretends to produce good music. There is more popular and better music than that produced by Simon Cowel he just manage to find a way to sell to the biggest buyer group 10 to mid teens. everyone else youtubes or downloads.
JAMIE HAS A SON?! Holly CRUD! I might have a chance of being in the hewlett family too! of course, itd be wierd having a crush on your father-in-law lol
i think it's a metaphor for a contestant wining and thinking they are the shit i.e going into space but then come back to earth and realise that they mean nada
It's not a metaphor, he referring to a TV show called space cadets in which people were tricked into thinking they were in a rocket travelling into space as part of an elaborate hoax en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Cadets_(TV_series)
Grant Duthie thank you! thought it was something like that but couldn't figure out what it was called. i understand damon's reservations… that's screwed up!
What is Damon talking about in this?? "To be honest with you, I don't like any of that. I think that's the rubbish part of our culture. The sooner we get rid of it, the better it is for everybody."
This was the worst Gorillaz interview I have ever seen. It was so awkward. Jamie just looked really bored and Damon look extremely uncomfortable. I hated every minute of this. Jonathan Ross can leave
Damon: "Johnathan im a musician you're a presenter get back where u belong." omg i laughted so hard on that one
Damon is being serious and Jamie just laughs his ass off hahaha
Damon: "his trousers are too high"
2d: Am I a joke to you?
This interview was a little intense--conflicting opinions flying everywhere. Still, it wouldn't have been right for Damon to have lied just to please others. I'm glad he shared his true thoughts. I'm also glad Jonathan eventually got a haircut after this.
About Crazy Frog:

Jamie: "Do you notice how they- they started pixelating out his penis when he became popular?"
Jonathan: "No, I think only you noticed that..."
LOLOL. Gotta love that comic artist. :D
He made them genuinely laugh out loud. .but they are intense AF
Watching and hearing Damon Albarn makes me want to read more, practice my violin, become aware of the world around me and other people. He just has that effect on me, makes me want to be intelligent. At the risk of sounding like a stupid fangirl, I think I love him
i’m 11 years late. do you still love him?
Thats so cute
Jonathan's way of responding to every word with his own opinions/jokes and Damon's way of kind of struggling to find the exact right words to express his thoughts don't quite go together. There's more of Jonathan in this Gorillaz interview than actual Gorillaz.

grimm803 your english is good, don't worry
I thought Jonathan is joking deliberately, knowing he's being a bit rude to men who he shouldn't, but still doing it since that's what he can only do. And Damon knows it, so he silently accepts it, and he's still having fun because Jonathan is still a amazing character. Well, that's what I thought. This was even a heart warming show for me. haha, thanks. I'm just being extra cautious because I'm studying at the moment. Banzai to the Gorillaz!
Damon is right, we need to get rid of x-factor. It's a show for people who can sing decently, but can't make success by them selves. So they take the easy way. I mean, there are SO much people that have a decent/good voice. TONS of em'.

Sorry guys still going on TV
.....
One reason why i dont watch tv
4:07 "His trousers are too high!" What happened with 2D then? xD
XDD I was wondering that too. Especially considering Damon voices him(singing).
Was a good show. Three men, having a good chat. Was really enjoyable. Can't run into this quality often. Damon supposedly a bit indigested through this chat, but showed me how amazing he is. I became about ten meters deeper fan of this band.
4:56 - they just predicted 21st century humour
He is not to serious. He made his point in the interview about how being in Blur sometimes he felt like a being cartoon character and thats why he created Gorillaz. Damon is so freaking cute, ugh
gorillaz songs have really stood the test of time
This interview is one of my all time favourites
Tough interview, but good.
Damon: Jonathan, I'm a musician, you're a presenter *points to seat* get back where you belong. -_-
Me: *claps SO HARD* ;w;
Damon Albarn FTW!!!
I love when damon laughs
4:04
Damon: * talking about his hatred of Simon Cowell * *His trousers are too high.*
2-D: *:’(*
this was an awesome interview
thanks for the upload
DAMON ALBARN IS A GOD!!!
If you read the book "the Birth of tragedy" you will get perfectly what the gorillaz are about and how Apollonian and Dionysian art formed!
This was a great interview. Funny with lots of topics, culture and challenges. I have very fond memories of this era of tv and music.
Damon is so fricken adorable omfg
4:11 - 4:20
i actually applaused damon, even though im justy watching this on youtube.

Murdoc's not meant to be nice xD Nice one Murdoc calling him a flowery ponce! lmao!
These are the two coolest guys on the planet.
Yeah Murdoc kinda sound like Pete Doherty
Whatever tf called Jonathan has me dead 😂😂😂😂 the animation alone is cracking me up
Jeez, you're my hero for saying this. Everyone thought he was way too serious in this interview. Personally, I love how he was reacting.
1:24 you can see how frustrated damon is
4:04 - just wait till the sleeping powder video damon
"Wouldn't it be great if we could've had the cartoon characters here on the show?"
If I was asked that at an interview like this, you'd love my reaction.
I like the gorillaz I really do
Is it just me that thinks that Damon is a little off or something?i dunno too serious about something's?
He seems intelligent though but yeah the gorillaz rockkkkk
Damon has always been like this tbh
he's just telling it like it is
Damon doesn't try to please people, he says what he believes and too bad if people don't agree, he's serious about issues he believes should be taken seriously and jokes when it's not, he is everything that american celebrities aren't and that's why I love him and his work
He's just like me. He knows too much.
so humble
Good interview for part 3/3.
I love Damons views on things and i think it was easy to see...he doesn't like Jonathan Ross very much :3
Still, i love Damon, i just think he is realy awesome as a person AND 2D of course
Jonathan Ross: he looks like a Pete ( whatever last he said)
Murdoc: *belches*
Me: XD
Mr. Damon Albarn, you are such a bad-ass

''no I think only you noticed that'' hahaha amazing interview
jonathan's a great engager & interviewer...
At some points he's like a little John Lennon :) Really determined to make his point.
damon is an icon
that concert looks fun...
I don't think Damon's that grumpy, just a bit intense like most musicians.
4.08
His trousers are too high :D
That made me laugh
i love gorillaz, i love damon et al - but yes. he needs to liven up. much love.
@boatofcoins I noticed that, too. Jamie seemed a little uneasy and seemed to be on Jonathan's side out of lack of nerves. If I was Damon, I'd be a tad bit pissed.
Damon exists
Me *I love this man*
*sees damons ear* *screams in Italian*
lolollool goo damon dissin simon xD
DAMON COME ON!
1:29 the bde jumped out
At points this interview - like all of J-row's - made me cringe just a bit but for the most part it was a good laugh. Especially the tickling bit. :)
I don't understand the attacks to Johnathan Ross. As Damon eve saiud he is the entertainer. 4:09 amen
Fucking amazing dude
he's so beautiful..
But if wearing trousers too high is terrible... can someone tell 2D??
3:10
For anyone who needs it
@RATMfan92
XFactor, if you're not from the UK then things like American Idol. The obsession with celebrity, it's the focus of so many people's lives and the sooner we get rid of it the better.
Thank you/
Challenge accepted.
Hewlett be like "shut up pls just shut up"
im the biggest gorillaz fan!!!
Why does Noodle have a constant "done with this shit" look?
@ColdShaun He always looks pissed.
No way! How could you suggest such a thing.
Damon's hooooot.
@MissusFingerBottom
Go watch Bananaz or No Distance Left to Run. He's a down to earth guy, seems like a right laugh.
is Damon always so uptight? Although he did laugh a lot at some point... this is the first time I'm watching Damon in person, I've only heard him in some songs
Ehhhh so what if he's serious. He's done more than I'll ever do, I can't judge.
@ColdShaun He probably is!
1:28
Ahaha Crazy Frog 8D
this comment section is the alphabet
4:04 HAAA WHAT about 2D thoo
damon 2 serious
@TheAssFalcon Hallelujah

"To be honest with you, I don't like any of that. I think that's the rubbish part of our culture. The sooner we get rid of it, the better it is for everybody."
2005 =)
no.
@ilostmysoultoyou
You need to be more specific than just "?"
@ilostmysoultoyou
Why are you trying to impress me? I don't give a shit what you think.
Damon likes Crazy Frog, but not X factor?
Oh dear...
I prefer the Gorillaz characters to him
its because realy music lovers dont listen to music on youtube :p
@ilostmysoultoyou
See that's more like it.
This was the worst Gorillaz interview I have ever seen. It was so awkward. Jamie just looked really bored and Damon look extremely uncomfortable. I hated every minute of this. Jonathan Ross can leave
