honestly, it's quite sad. if only April confront him immediately after hearing about the system, she could learn one or two things about Paul and how the system works. too bad, she choose to remain silent, unresponsive, but still keep Paul in check to torture him. Paul talk about how he felt heart broken while waiting in fear of going erased as the deadline of the mission ticking closer.... that's quite understandable. it's his first love and genuine one, only to be faced with silence and hopelessness. that's why he didn't so easy as to reconcile. 5 years stuck in place, while he knew she knew about system but didn't want or have any desire to talk or hear him out. paul heart would turned cold, and filled with suspicious heart. he never believe in April's sincerity, even tho she tell the truth. He's truly let it go what a waste of love, but there's nothing can be done 😢
I don't get why people think him getting back with her is bad. They actually didn't do anything bad. She went for a date, decided santiago is not for her (never slept with him). MC was quite hot headed in this regard. Part of life is being able to forgive things, if they're not totally ruining something. April didn't do anything over the top, for real. She was close to him, learned the truth. She deserved forgivness. Buuuut... Little 5 was the girl for MC ;) And that's the whole moral of this little tale, that this character, always present but silent, was really the one who was lost, not April. April was just a backdrop for the sincere companionship of MC and Lil 5.

38:57 i think this justifies ML reason for walking away perfectly. Even if she knew the truth she lead him on & punished him for 5 years. She “tested his sincerity” for 5 years and never made a choice or even tried to face him until he had already walked away. People say he should forgive her after hearing the explanation, but her reasoning meant nothing in the face of the conquest he would’ve died and only got to live on little 5s merits & sacrifice. He chose to part peacefully not with scorn or hatred and that was all he owed her.
I LOVE multilayer system stories. However my one grief is Paul playing the victim a little too much. He was given SO many chances and yet he couldn't give her even a trial run? Even if he had an unwritten rule to not mention the system before, he knew what he was doing. I swear taking the saying "hate the player not the game" to another level.
