The hook is there for a park brake, this is actually a real car handbrake converted to a sim racing handbrake, so that feature is because if you replace your OEM one with this, there is no ratchet mechanism to lock the hand brake on for parking on a hill, so you'd pull the brake handle and put the hook over the bolt to hold the brakes on without needing to hold it with your hand.
The red hook is to hook on the bolt in front of it to keep the hand break on. Its still there cuz it's from an actual e break product just added the sensors. Fun fact, due to that the same actual e break mod for car is actually tens of dollars cheaper.
I had one of these. Great for the price and works really well. The only real cons were its not stiff enough, especially if you're heavy handed and I had to regularly tighten everything up. If you're on a budget it's a great bit of gear, but I'm sure you can get stiffer springs to firm it up a bit

The manual will tell you where to go but not how to calibrate. Also make sure to turn the deadzone up from zero. I had mine on zero and the handbrake kept activating OFF and ON. I set mine to like 10 in Dirt Rally 2.0.
Purchased one from Amazon which is solid. No sided to side play at all. The unit came with an extra grip of a faux leather feel and a harder spring to give more weight to the pull. Shows up as an Odoor Handbrake in windows. Also, a desk clamp was an optional purchase with the unit. Only thing I needed to do was adjust the dead zone as it's quite large stock.
I hvae also this but from aliexpress. How do you adjust the dead zone? My handbrake has this small 2-4% usage changing rapidly when idle so it's annoying. I have tried to calibrate it but it would be better to set dead zone to ignore really small movement / idle.
@@anttikasvi4311 Basically I opened up the game controller settings in Windows (Windows button, settings, devices, on the right hand side, open devices and printers, then right click on your handbrake and select game controller settings) click on the test tab then get the alan key to fit the middle screw on the back of the unit. With the test window open, adjust the handbrake until you see it register on the screen. Once it starts to register, back it off until the red line disappears. I adusted it to have no dead zone.

It's based off an arduino micro, the only caveat is to "oil" it a bit to avoid some overcoming squeaky sounds xD. The only other downside is that sometimes it can be bitchy with certain motherboards or with windows. I had to use an USB hub and enable it before I turn on the G29, or else the G29 sometimes isn't properly calibrated if I leave them both on at boot.
This might be late, but usually if something works on a USB hub and not on the pc cases USB it means it needs more power (volts) which you can easily fix by just plugging it to your motherboard (back of the PC case) instead of the PC cases front/side/top USB ports
@@deimiss yeah the thing could require some extra power but the hub is externally powered too with a small adapter. I needed to have a select port switch hub or else leaving it perennially hooked to the motherboard, gave some issues. So i just flick it on before the G29, then flick the g29 on, check calibration and go about my sim business.
I actually bought this USB handbrake and converted it to a sequential shifter using a Teensy 4.1 and a couple of switches for the shifty part and a 49E hall effect sensor for a clutch. I do agree the springs were a bit weak and upgraded them to stronger springs.
I bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flight stick. It was $20 and I can use it for Assetto Corsa. You can map the flight stick to work as an E-brake with content manager
Wow, that looks exactly like the knock off drift handles sold for real cars except without the master cylinder. I used one of them back in the day IRL. That may simply be a reproposed part with some sensors . Not a bad idea considering how awful it was in a real car. The handle itself wasn't that bad but the hydraulics were downright dangerous.
anyone who buys one for their IRL should get a wilwood or similar high quality cylinder, then they are actually decent. I bought one for my sim rig, cost me $35 dollars plus a $10 push button switch and an afternoon to make it all work.
here is a my experience with these types of handbrakes, I bought a standard one for around £30 because I had a spare th8a mainboard that I kind of messed up but still worked so i made and printed mounts and stuff to make it work, after that I found the long bolt that goes thought the handle was chewing threads in the handle which after a few days it started to lock up, so I drilled the hole out to fit the little collars you get on the hook and guide bolts. I removed the guide bolts and collars because they started squeak really bad and then just printed some spacers to make sure the handle was centred and wasn't rubbing on the frame. as for the resistance I used a blue die spring with the included master cylinder (I think that's what its called) plugged the inlet and outlet and that seemed to be enough for me. since those mods I have been very happy its quiet and dependable but out of the box they can be a bit iffy
i got one of these and it lasted maybe a month the usb plugin port is right next to the ebake so as you pull sometimes you can hit the cord and break the port ive done it to two of them sadly i wish the port was in say the rear or such
I’ve got this and if you unbolt the handle you can change the orientation of it to mount vertically on a rig too as well as horizontal, can’t fault it a couple months down the line but also got nothing to compare too as my first handbrake
if your willing to buy off ailexpress you can get the same one for $40 shiped or you can get the simjack loadcell handbrake for $96 shiped. i have the sim jack one it feels well made and has no play in it.

I bought it but returned it The issue was for the game WRC 10 it worked only sometimes. In other words if you pull the handbrake sometimes you'll see the video game driver pulling the handbrake and sometimes you won't and the handbrake won't work. Oddly in Windows 11 under game controller config Windows sees this handbrake as a rudder. And you can't remap it. Hardware wise it was nice and solid. But software wise in one of the main rally games I play (WRC 10) it didn't work.

i had the same one. the worst thing i have ever bought. that thing had so much jitter that i had to set a deadzone of about 20 percent of the whole travel has. and then i dont mean the whole travel. because after you cant pull anymore in game, you still have about 5 cm to pull into nothing. looks nice, but mine was just plain garbage.
I have this handbrake and it's been great!! Also the Aiologs sequential shifter has been amazing since I've used it! I will submit my setup for the sim tour project when I have the free time as it "finished" for now.
I have the same issue you do with the third handbrake because whenever I pull mine fully back it only reads 90%-92% instead of 100% and when I have it near fully back it reads 100% . Is there any way on how to properly fix this issue because I tried calibrating and that had no effect to it sadly.

I have been looking around and have seen handbrakes for as little as 10 dollars to 50 dollars to this that is 170 dollars, what it says is that it is 14 or 16 bit instead of 64 bit how much worse is this and will it work at all?

Just made my own with a PS2 controller bits and bats and use it in analogue mode. Springs and tension and yeah. Quite good to be honest as it was free.

I mapped my clutch (fanatec v3 pedals) as handbrake and it actually works surprisingly well.

I've ran through two of them all, two things I have to say is over time it fucks up the sensor and the Usb it's ported to breaks off.
Mine broke after 3 months, the motherboard fell off the hot glue and the usb port came off the motherboard.

Add a deadzone to the last 10% of the travel In the settings. So when you reach above 90% brake power the game will read it as 100.
