Moving a 2729 lb log with John Deere 2032R and Frontier AV20F grapple!

- The 3rd log I moved, the "biggin'" was 2729 lb according to sherrilltree.com calculator. The last log I moved was 2652 lb. Honestly guys, I'm just happy I didn't damage the tractor doing this. So many things could have broken. I don't recommend trying it. Moved about 10,000 pounds worth of logs today in the small part of the front yard. Just keep cleaning.

That is very impressive that you could move those logs so well, says alot about the toughness of your tractor and your operator skills. I would have doubted you could have moved them before watching.
That was a fun day. I do recommend having more ballast on the rear when moving heavy loads. This was a little too much. I could have broken the front axle or loader. I gotta be more careful. Thanks for watching.
These tractors are tough. My dealer said to run RPM over 50 percent whenever using hydraulics. I notice a big difference when using bucket and fork lifts. Thanks for the video!

Thank you Karen. I'm still trying to find someone that has a truck and can take them to mill. If we ever do find someone, I'll try and record as much as I can.
Nothing like watching somebody else "Breaking" in thar New Tractor. My 3 tractors have been "Babyed" compaired to your vidio demostration. My kubogy TLB mx5200 @ 8000lbs has never been asked to do what you did with your 3500lb rig. With a "measly" 850hrs in the last 59 months nothing has ,leaked,broke,bent,or snapped yet. Maybe l am just taking it TOO EASY on it. My other two Massey-ferggys are just as happy with thar "light-duty" lifes. Maybe l just needs to get me a "John Deere" Tractor that l can torture. I knew before I bought the tractor it had a hard life ahead of it just based on what jobs I knew I needed it for. I knew I’d probably scratch the paint or get a dent or two (not that I wanted to). I was too hard on it in this video and don’t recommend doing what I did. I’m lucky I didn’t bend the hydraulics or snap the front axle. I got a buddy with an older enclosed large kabota and nothing has touched the paint except for air. Looks brand new. Thanks for watching!
@@simpsonstractorworks4263 The tractor brand doesn't matter, just by "way-over-loading" the front-end can plague the front axle forever. A "warranty " usually doesen' t cover abuse. I have fixed these seal leak problems after the "warranty " was wore-out(usually not forgiven the second time on New rigs). The price ranges from 275.oo$- 325.oo& per side----dealers charge that times 2. When one side "leaks" ---a sure sign the damage is done with the other side in line to fail in a very short time there after. This catastrophe has never happened to me but to many-many of my tractor associate's. As long as they have the money, l got the time. Sadly it only takes One time. Just trying to save you the financial misery by telling this. Happy safe tractoring Sir.
Id really recommend putting a box on the back!! I have 900lbs in mine. I just don’t wanna see you ruin the axle bearings

@@Will-tm5bj This tractor really has amazed me with what I've been able to do with it. When I bought it, I knew it was going to have a hard life starting out just by looking at 30 or 40 100 ft trees that were lying on the ground around my house. After going back and watching this video and seeing the front of the tractor squat down on the front axle like it did, that really worried me, and I don't want to tear that up!

Since it's so far above the capacity limits, I'd worry about bending loader arms or pressure spiking the hydraulic system like the Messicks video on How Not to Use A Grapple illustrates. Be careful with the old girl!
Yeah, that's the main thing that I worry about when doing that kind of stuff.
I would be curious if you have a hydraulic pressure tester like the one i have from kens bolt on hooks? Would like to know what your pressure is compared to mine. I use forks and my 2021 2032r wouldnt lift those. Maybe the grapple makes a difference too not sure.
Hmm, I don't really know. Maybe it's just a little bit of the curl function for the grapple that got it up, but I was really only about 1 inch off the ground on the light side of the log. The heavy side dragged most of the way. But then again I would think the forks would be a lighter attachment and able to lift a little more than the grapple. I'll have to check on getting a pressure tester.
@@simpsonstractorworks4263 its adjustable by the releif valve under seat area. I beleive i have mine set at 2800 psi releif. Ill have to recheck since they put the backhoe on, see if they moved it. I beleive spec is up to 3000 or 3100 have to check.
How many of those logs would it take to make a cord of split firewood
I don’t have much experience with splitting, and we haven’t split any of those. We were hoping to mill for lumber. They’re still sitting where I left them. My guess would be 1 log, maybe less. If I wanted to move them to the splitting area, I would definitely be cutting them in half first.
Your poor tractor needs more weight on the back. I do like seeing people trying to lift super heavy stuff with these little tractors though. It’s probably not recommended but I’m always curious what they will actually do….
I do have ballast in the tires, but you're right, I would have felt better if I'd had the tiller on the back instead of the landscape rake. The main thing I worry about when doing something like this is bending or snapping something. Thanks for watching!
