This week I try the single tank fuel economy challenge in my BMW M140i so the question is can i drive my M140i from LONDON to AMSTERDAM AND BACK on ONE tank of fuel?

If you wanted to do London to Amsterdam and back on a tank of fuel in a car with a 52l fuel tank (eg the M140i), you’d have to average 61.4mpg.

No you don’t 52 litre equals 12 gallons and 350 mile so your need to average 30
@@alexevans9145 If you’re doing London to Amsterdam *and* *back* which is what Jeremy attempted to do, that is 700 miles in total, so you would have to average 61.4mpg in a car that uses a 52l fuel tank.
And actually, 52l is 11.4 gallons, not 12.
700 miles / 11.4gal (UK) = 61.4mpg.
Absolutely enjoyed this. I’m taking my 320i later in the year so I might do this challenge but I suspect I will have more range in the tank. Great video ❤️
Windows down for cooling is great. But for resistance and the force as your travelling 70mph that wind withing your car is slowing you down more. Hence cars with aero it all matters and affects your fuel usage

Actually, I think that opening the windows fully down on the motorway(higher speeds) wastes more petrol than the A/C as it increases drag but I ain't no scientist
No need to put them both down all the way at all, just an inch each lets in plenty of air and wont effect the aero too much. But you are right having both all the way down defeated the purpose

I done Hatfield to Amsterdam and back to the same garage last year in a Audi A3 black edition on 55 litre tank worked out 658 miles return trip

The fuel gauge telling you how many miles you had left kept going up until the fuel that was in the pipe from the tank to the filler hole was in the actual tank.
No, range is actually calculated based on the MPG prior to filling up. So when you start driving sensibly with cruise control your MPG rises so the range gets recalculated and therefore keeps rising.

just came back from a long trip from swiss I was doing 100 to 120mph in Belgium I love the straight motorways, the have few fixed cameras and some average speed cameras which are annoying but apart from that you can really put your foot down
