I'm glad I got this video on my youtube home, I'm a 9+ years experience mobile app dev with tier 3 college degree, I can say I did good so far with my career considering where I started but always worked on smaller org, and wondered what is so special on this top level companies & their devs, and on some level I undermined the value of the data structures & algorithms, as we're mostly taught they're of no importance in these colleges, I guess your suggestion on Algorithms course & LeetCode can be a good start for me, thanks
Hi Priyank, 9+ years is a lot of experience. I'm sure you'll do great. Good luck!
Our college degree anyways don't help us in becoming a software engineer.
Yes some good colleges do bring companies on campus but we are self taught only. College teach us C on turboC and asks us to submit handwritten program files... that's their only role.
So don't let this feeling of not having a CS degree stop you from doing great things ❤️🔥
I agree with you 100%.

When it comes to what happens to the memory when adding an element to an array list, that it depends on the language. Java’s implementation is going to be different than Python. Instead, I’d say concepts like memoization is more important. Unless of course you plan to only use one programming language the rest of your life.

Anybody can be anything as long as you have the right information in front of you. All you need is enough material to do the work. However, you will never get paid nearly enough as someone who has a degree. I know this because this was me. As soon as I went back to school 20 years later and got my CS degree my income increased more than one would think. Plus, you have more opportunities than being stuck in a software position that you may or may not like.

Thank you, you are what is called autodidactic, (self taught without a teacher) i have been programming 40 years never spent a day in college. I bought an Apple II with an attitude I would learn something new every day. Coded 8 hours a day, I got a huge break in 1982 when IBM PC came out and there was a great need for BASIC language like what I learned on my Apple. At that time everyone did COBOL and Fortran on mainframes.

Bro,can you please make at least one video on the relevance of IIT environment or IIT tag when applying for jobs?
What should students from tier 2 and tier 3 colleges do to get similar exposure?
P.S. Wrote this after seeing your linkedin profile which stated you are from IIT Delhi.
Hi Chetan! Thanks for your comment. I'll sure make a video about it in the future. But, to answer your question here, I did all this here in the US. And most people don't know about IIT here. That's why it didn't really make a difference in my case.
@@sahilandsarra Thanks for the reply :)
Actually,I am just a first year student at a tier 2 college and looking at all the successful people having an IIT tag is making me anxious. Hence,I wanted to know its relevance from an Indian American.
Can you at least tell me why is it that its mostly IITians becoming CEOs and PMs at FAANG? That would be really helpful to me.
That's actually not true. Most Indian Software Engineers I've worked with in US are not from IIT. Many of my IIT friends could not get into the big tech companies you mentioned. It's all about the skills. So, if you have got the skills, you don't need any tags.
