Look how effortless and smooth these guys look! Today’s BB stick their tongues out and make fart faces. THIS is pure art. Also notice how they don’t motion their hands for a begging applause. Their applause is deserved based on their art in motion. PURE GOLD!

Yess I hate it when the person on stage has to beg for applauses. You have FAILED when you have to resort to that!
It was just a random exposition, but look at the
excitement on the faces in the audience and listen to the
applause! It was a feast for the people. Guys like Franco and Arnold understood that it
was a form of entertainment and you would have to offer a
bit more to them than just pure
bulk - today it has declined from art form to freak show!
It was definitely an art form back then, and no need to stir up the crowd...the crowd was stirred up by what they saw

As good as Arnold's lats were, Francos were even better. Looks like they belonged on a 6'4" guy.
I saw Arnold in 1975 after he had won the Olympia, he came to Bethlehem, Pa to give a seminar. He probably weighed 200 lbs when I saw him. I also remeber the single overhead light with the darkened stage for posing.

@ljnv Closer to 5 foot 6 or 7. I mean Columbu and Zane looked amazing didn't they? Franco was only 5 foot 5 ish, and Zane was maybe 5 foot 9.

You don’t see people in the audience applauding like that now days. The guys have to encourage the people to applaud, back then he had the body all the guys wanted and body all the women wanted to have as their boyfriend.

Franco was quite possibly the strongest "small" guy of all time. The fact that he was able to compete in strongman competitions against guys that were twice his size is truly remarkable.
