My first backpacking trip was a solo 7 day journey along the Selway River from Selway Falls to Moose Creek. It was perfect and life changing. Fell in love with that part of Idaho. Amazing job on this one, Jon.
Jeez. That was really good. The shot at 01’48 was excellent. Not sure you’ve discussed it yet as I’m still working my way through your content, but I’d really love to hear how you approach your editing and audio mixing. Really like how you cut back and forth to specific shots. 👍👍
🙌💗 #inspo I would dream of editing those wonderful shots! I started editing for a dance company and it’s a totally different experience editing with professionally taken videos vs my amateurish videoing lol. I upgraded to Final Cut Pro and yeah.. Total game changer! Thank you for your inspiring videos! They continue to remind me to chase after my dreams.
You're welcome Jessica. Hey you're on Instagram right? Me and Gatewood Brown are starting a little UA-cam chat thread in the DMS to compare thumbnails. You interested?
WOW! Great scenery and bad ass video. I commend you for your bravery to head out into the backcountry in those conditions and doing it solo to boot. Having seen your other videos and live streams, I understand why you challenge yourself based upon your own words/reasons. That being said, I would never attempt such a trip by myself in those conditions. One wrong step near a creek or encounter with a bear by yourself could be your last. Just my 2 cents. I totally understand your sense of adventure, but I’m sure I’m speaking for all of us who enjoy your videos we would hate to lose you. Take care my friend.
This is unreal! Can't believe I'm late to this one. Very well filmed and I love how you let the sounds of nature be the narrator. I was just studying my three different Selway-Bitterroot maps last night - the 1999 USFS Selway-Bitterroot North and South, Cairn Cartographics Selway-Bitterroot North and South and National Geographic Selway-Bitterroot. I really want to go stay at Three Rivers Resort in Lowell and check out the Lochsa, Selway and Clearwater Rivers. I would also love to see you link up with Mediocre Amateurs for a video, maybe the Bighorn Crags? Cheers and have a great Christmas.

Brilliant video, looks like a great place to hike and explore, shots are just stunning.
Thanks mate! Cheers
Amazing how the landscape changes so much with elevation! Thanks for bringing us along on the adventure, Jon!
Thanks for watching homie!
Beautiful! Thank you.
You're welcome
Such an amazing video of your outdoor experience! I would love to go there one day and shoot a solo hike too. Stay safe out there. Best wishes, Mario
Thanks Mario!
You’re talented and capture such beauty on your hikes. Keep up the great work
Thank you! Will do!
Always wanted to explore that range but I'm way too scared to backpack solo in grizzly country 😅. Great vid!
I mean it's Idaho, you're always in some predators country. You get used to it. 🙂

Fortune favors the bold!
Had you done a few of these with someone more experienced prior to jumping in solo? Or did you wing it?
Wing it. Just go for it

Nice trip! What boots? Did ya get cold sleeping? Does your breath condense on the tent an soak your gear?
Are you navigating using gps or a map/compass?
Mostly GPS but I do carry a map and compass as well
