Thank you for this wonderful recipe. I will try making it this weekend. Praying that it comes out as great as yours. Thanks for listing the ingredients.
I’m making it now and it is looking good. Omitted bacon bc I’m making it for my parents. Next time I’ll include the bacon, what a special treat. Can’t wait to dig in
Made this recipe 5-21-2022 Great !!!!!! The only thing I modified was had shrimp shells in the freezer. I had 2lbs of shells and I made a Shrimp Stock not Chicken or Vegetable Stock. I don't eat pork or beef so did not include bacon. Other than that followed exact recipe. It was Great !!!!!!! Thanks For Recipe.
Wow! Shrimp stock definitely sounds like a great idea! The trick to any great meal is making it your own. We love that made it and thank you for letting us know!
Made this for the first time to take to Christmas dinner at my sister's house.... she is a picky eater.... she asked for the recipe! Making it again for the second time... not sure what I love most, the actual soup or dancing to the music while I make it!
Watched several times, when did you put the celery in? With the white onions or with the green onions. I made my 1st attempt with Alaska shrimp, halibut and dungeness crab we caught last summer . So good. The bacon puts it over the top. Very rich.
Getting happily distracted by the music....glancing at what is cooking. I meant to write the recipe down....but preferring getting into this fun music to cook by. Oh yes, shrimp...making it with love always tastes better anyway. Can't wait to try this!!!
So glad you like the music!!! That’s one of the ways we try to keep things fun! If you get a chance to make it, please let us know what you think of the recipe.
Yum THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T Throw away your shrimp juice boils and Crabs and things. strain and freeze them > It great for Gumbos, Chowders, and Soups and things YUMMY
Hi 👋🏽 Many grocery stores carry Lump Crab meat in their Seafood department. We purchased ours from Publix Supermarket. Please let us know how it turns out.
@@DSFamilia Agree Some like gumbo's take a lot of things, but like you said its worth it > Plus i'am been guilty of? Getting away from them. But getting back on them
Hi Theresa. We found this recipe courtesy of cleangreensimple.com/recipe/vegan-heavy-cream-substitutes/#wprm-recipe-container-8183 Ingredients 1 cup raw cashews chopped or whole, unsalted 1 1/4 cup unsweetened plain non-dairy milk Boiling water Instructions Place the cashews in a heat-safe bowl. Add boiling water, making sure to completely cover the cashews. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes, then drain the cashews. In a high-powered blender, combine the soaked cashews and non-dairy milk. Blend on high until smooth and creamy. You may have to occasionally pause the blender to scrape down the sides. If you prefer a thinner consistency, slowly add more milk or water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Pour the heavy cream into a container with an air-tight lid, like a glass jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Notes To sweeten your vegan cashew heavy cream, add a few drops of vanilla extract or a spoonful of maple syrup.
@@mitchgee719 Oh yes! In many of the dishes we make celery is a key seasoning. It’s fragrance and taste when cooked compliments many different recipes.
Hey Skip. While we’d like to say yes, imitation crab has a different consistency than real crab. We’re not sure how it would hold together in that amount of sauce. Also, the flavor profile will be very different. Of course, if that’s all you can get, it wouldn’t hurt to try. We’re just not sure what your final result would be.
@@DSFamilia Thank you for such a quick reply. I think just to information reasons I am going to try the imitation crab this week, will let you know the out come all around. Again thank you for a quick reply

Plus the six cloves of garlic, they added garlic powder. It is going to smell like an Italian restaurant! The shrimp ended up overcooked in my opinion. Good try but go with the KISS theory.
@@gregjohnson720 Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We love garlic and would probably put more as it was far from overpowering. The shrimp was tender and everything came together very well. As for the KISS Theory, that doesn’t always work well in a Trini kitchen 😁. If you have a similar recipe video, please share it so that we might learn something new. Thanks again, take care.
Shame on you for not getting up all the fond on the bottom of the pot….a bit of wine or sherry would have done the trick and is very common an ingredient in chowder.

Can I substitute the dairy products with something else ?
Hi Theresa. We found this recipe courtesy of cleangreensimple.com/recipe/vegan-heavy-cream-substitutes/#wprm-recipe-container-8183
Ingredients
1 cup raw cashews chopped or whole, unsalted
1 1/4 cup unsweetened plain non-dairy milk
Boiling water
Instructions
Place the cashews in a heat-safe bowl.
Notes
To sweeten your vegan cashew heavy cream, add a few drops of vanilla extract or a spoonful of maple syrup.
Can’t read the graphics so idk what you’re doing. Too much trouble to figure it out. Looks good though.
