Well, what I have actually found, after being looking for the perfect piano sound to my taste, is, that you essentially can voice any high quality piano to sound exactly the way, that you want. As a consequence of that, by the way, every new Shigeru Kawai sold come with an in home technician, who voice the piano to buyers specifications. It is both true and not, what you are stating: The perceived and most common Steinway sound of today is as far from this period style piano sound, as it possible can be, with a very charismatic midrange, that tend to overpower both the treble and bass, making a very poor dynamic range. That modern Steinway sound is brilliant for popular music, but utter useless for classical music. It was actually the Italian pianist Margherita Torretta, now also here on Brilliant Classics, who brought me to the attention, that the modern Steinway sound, that I hate, only really are voicing and not an inherent change or limitation on modern pianos, but entirely a voicing: Her home Steinway sound exactly to my taste and much like this 1888 Grand indeed, like period style grand perfect for classical music.
If you yearn for Beethoven's compositions so far, you should listen to many Beethoven's compositions on this Brilliant Classics channel. In this channel, there are so many and many his compositions.
