Gorgeous, thanks for answering that question for me! Now, I only need to know - "How long can you go?" and "How thin (spindle diameter) can you go?" Both those questions are wood-turning related! lol
@@JackMackWoodturning That's where I got the original idea from once, I watched a woodturning video of someone turning a goblet but it was thick and chunky. My thought was - how thin, long, and slender could a goblet be? How much care needs to be taken because it would start to wobble? Things like that. I'm not a woodturner, but I turned to steel and alloys for a number of years, about 40 years ago.
Thanks for that RP.. yeah Dave it’s a piece of oak. Really appreciate you and your wife watching and I’m sure your piece for her will be beautiful.. mind those fingers/knuckles. 😊👍🏻
Beautiful work. I'd load that up with some chicken wings and slam a couple of pints. Seriously though, that is one beautiful platter and the grain is absolutely fantastic. Great job.
It looks like a good 1/8 of an inch. I bet he could have gone to 1/16, but why risk it. It turned a wonderful piece, and very useful for a plethora of things.
Thanks for watching. It’s was around 4mm.. as Renegade said, I’m sure I could have gone a little thinner but it’s starts getting into the danger zone. I don’t mind loosing the piece but I am quite fond of my fingers and skin. 🤣
That’s a stunning piece of work oak can be rather boring but you have achieved a lovely finish, on a different note what is the name of the tool you used at the end to remove the last bit of wood and where can I purchase one regards Martin
Hi Martin, thanks for watching, the tool is a power chisel that attaches to a rotary tool like a dremel. This one is from Axminster tools but I wouldn’t recommend it as it spits black grease out the front every now and then and has ruined a few pieces of work for me.
Как всегда, очень красиво!!! 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Прелест !!! Ето какви красиви неща може да сътвори човешкото въображение, когато е съчетано с умението на ръцете !

Wife & I just enjoyed your video and she asked me to ask you what the wood is...and now she wants me to try to make one like yours for her
Jack will probably respond, but in case he doesn’t the wood is oak

Now that sounds like a better plan than working tomorrow 👍🏻🤣
@@JackMackWoodturning A bad day with a few pints is better than a good day working...haha.
🤣 Amen to that 🍺

What’s the thickness on the side of that?

Beautiful work...what finish did you use?
What is the tool you used at the end to carve away the nub in the center?
It is an attachment for a rotary tool. I fix it to my dremel.

😁🙌😎👍🏻
If you dont know him already, you can check the work of Maxime Perrolle. He's going super-thin
His work is amazing, I like his use of texture too.
What’s the tool you use to shave off the little bit of tenon?

Looks like oak is that right?
Hey, yeah it’s oak.
@@JackMackWoodturning knew it! 🥳
Nice one 👍🏻
Really impressive, I saw an animals face
Me too! A wolf perhaps?
I’m gonna guess about 2cm?
Maybe… maybe less.
@@JackMackWoodturning looking forward to watching man 👌🏻
Thanks I hope you enjoy it
The rounded bottom is too small , so things on top will be declined.
Wrong.
