Hey, I rolled my CJ-5 on Argentine Pass in 1974!! We rolled it back over by hand and drove it home to Denver.
Heck, Roman wasn’t probably even driving yet in 1974!
YES!! the CJ and International Scouts were getting it done back in the 70s!! if you think about it now, even the most pedestrian of 4x/AWD have immensely more capability, and they were getting it done.
"good advise to not climb into holes you're not familiar with"
Roman laughs
🤣
Roman laughs, uncomfortably. 😂
These videos are great! Please keep them coming
I'm absolutely loving these trail ride videos, seeing places I'd love to visit and drive on someday yet still getting insight into the dynamics of the vehicles you're using. I didn't like the white on the F-150 Tremor at first but it's growing on me the more I watch it. I'm glad Ford loaned it to you.
I think out of ALL the things your channel covers... I like this type of video the best... Just Roman and Tommy, and pooch, getting 'er done !
Love the F-150 Tremor. Best all around truck in Ford's line-up.
This series is awesome, guys! Love it.
I was hanging out in Georgetown on the weekend looking for a group to tail, and a group of 10+ jeeps came through town, so I followed them and did Argentine. AWESOME trail. Spectacular views from the top of Grays and Torreys. I would HIGHLY recommend it.
Loving these Trail Guide videos!! Please keep them in your rotation!
Love it. Please keep them coming. I think Blaze is a great addition to the team. Nothing wrong with a good ol Dad Joke :)
Love all of these videos. As a Midwesterner that visits Summit County every summer, we are always looking for new adventures. Keep them coming. Also... You need to create and add a "Butt Clinch" rating for each trail. 1 - 5. 1 is no clinch. 2 is a left cheek clinch. 3 is a right cheek clinch. 4 is both cheeks clinched. 5 is a diamond clinch.
You have some seriously well tuned rating system. 😃
Blaze is an outstanding addition to your off road crew 🐺
Pups, trails and trucks. So good.
We agree!
Ok Blaze is awesome. He's ready to try driving apparently. Always enjoy his appearances.
Ran this last year in my 01 TJ without lockers. That rock feature on the way back down had me thinking I was gonna tip over but the ole girl got it done.
Tommy Alex and blaze. And Roman. = family off road adventure. ❤. Tommy incredible driving. And the outfit gave angelic vibes bud. Especially with the scenery
Rode Argentine Pass last week on my Tenere 700, going uphill was a blast, going downhill was another story (dropped it twice)... amazing ride on a bike!
I went up there the other day in my stock LX570. I got to the obstacle at 15-18 minutes in your video, and decided that I wasn't willing to rip the side steps off my car... So, I backed down to the water crossing below, and went back to Waldorf where the McClellan Peak trail starts. The road to McClellan Peak is easy, although it is a shelf road with tight switchbacks on which we needed to use the runoffs to change direction. Awesome views at the top.
Thank you for doing these drive a longs, they're great!
Argentine was one of the first trails I hit when I started off-roading my (then stock) Nissan Frontier. Being a noob and soloing with my kids, I stopped at that outcropping you guys hit at 15min. Some experience (and a 2" lift with 33s) later, I went back and completed the trail with no issues.
Blaze says: “That’s all you got?!” I never really “strayed” far from the Trucks channel, but now I’m glad I have. Love these kinds of “exploring” videos and the information you all provide. Love the energy everyone brings to all the content, too. I’m sure it’s coincidental, but that’s cool having those chargers at the “foot” of the path, so folks can try their hand with a Rivian or Lightning.
This series is great please keep them going if you can. It’s a great watch on Sunday morning with my coffee.
Did this trail yesterday in a bone stock Gladiator Mojave @30psi, no lockers needed. This is one of my favorite trails in the area. Only issue I had was the ledge at 16:00 in this video. I was used to facerolling the right line in my JK so I tried that at first but the left line is wide enough for a full width truck though and much safer (as shown in video)! I often see some mountain goats at the top.
Best advice I have for anyone climbing this for the first time is before that final climb, check to see if there's anyone coming down because passing people on that part is rough (the "plateau" road part). So just look ahead and have patience if you see people coming down just wait, Same thing at the top, I find it best to wait for people to get up before heading down.
I love, LOVE this series. Well done.
Loving the trail guide series!
Thanks so much for showing exactly what to expect on this and many other trails you highlight in this video series. My next truck is going to be a Colorado Trail Boss and it will be my first 4x4 truck, I have only owned 4x2s and one SUV, and I want to get into off roading but the Trail Boss will no be able, and more importantly, I will not be able to do super hard trails but seeing this trail has me confident with spotters and 360 cameras it should be no problem for me to try to tackle.
1) buddy backup truck following
2) air pump to air up after airing down
3) tow straps and winches
4) ice chest with plenty of water and gatoraids
5) snacks
6) maybe a sat cellphone
7) go early so night doesn't catch me
8) 2 or 3 spare tires in the bed for backups
9)
I really like this series of videos! I hope to make it out that way next year to try some of these trails. Would love to see the 2024 Land Cruiser on some of these trails.
1 hour on a good day :) We did I-70 on a Saturday in late June and it was 1 hour to Idaho Springs. We did Guanella because the wife isn't too comfortable with good old fashion passes :) Loving the series!
Hi Roman and Tommy! I’m a local Denver resident with a Wildtrak Bronco. Really enjoying your series on the local trails. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Glad you like them!
Great video! We did this trail a few weeks ago (JLU Rubicon with 35s and 2.5" L). I mostly agree with you, however as soon as I got off Guanella and onto that first entry way of the trail and saw that super rocky hill, I immediately aired down. Made the whole trip way more comfortable, as a lot of the trail was bumpy. And those views at the top were so amazing, photos and videos (including my own) can't do it justice. The only bad part for us is we got behind a big group of Hummers on the way down, and it took forever since anyone coming up would have to completely get off the trail to make way for those wide bodies. That last mile down took us almost an hour just because of that! Grrr.
Love the channel and these trail guides are a wonderful addition to the car reviews. Helps put things into perspective when considering offroad vehicles. Also cool seeing yall get out and enjoy what CO has to offer!
Glad you like them!
I think it is a great idea to do a series of these videos of great CO trails. Excellent resource for those of us planning a trip to CO for some world class 4 wheeling. Thanks for making these type of videos
Another Great video in this series. Truly appreciated by a TX Raptor owner who spends a lot of time in Summit CO and wants to explore some of the trails but worried about the width of the Raptor
These are cool videos. This is great for people like me that are not from Colorado and these trails will be a new experience.
I've been up the Peru Creek trail, I've been to the top of Santa Fe Peak which is pretty close by. I'll put Argentine on my list for a future trip.
Thanks for specifically describing where you zeroed out the trip odometer and also great descriptions of the various points. Very helpful. Agree with the comment for more trail views with your commentary vs pictures of you (and your beautiful pooch). We know what you guys look like!
😊😊😊😊 enjoy these please keep them up!!!! Thx for the history of the area as well.
Great video...brings back some memories of living in Colorado for sure.
Thanks for using your platform to educate people about the dangers of abandoned mines. I’m a professional in the mining industry and there is too much content on this website encouraging “mine exploration” without acknowledging the danger.
Cool shots of the mountain town. Beautiful scenery, asmr for me.
The beginning of the trail is much worse than 6 years ago when I was on it. It is an interesting drive. There is a water diversion tunnel from Peru Creek into Leavenworth Creek (and eventually Denver) underneath the top of the pass. A nearby sidetrip can take you along an old railbed to near the top of McClelland Mountain. It was built to take tourists to the top of a 14,000 ft peak. Unfortunately, McClellan was found to be 13,600ft high, the trip lost its appeal and the rail was abandoned.
Drove most of this trail in a lifted '10 Subaru Outback in '23. Wasn't much of an issue but the lack of oxygen killed power and the lack of lockers stopped me a little ways beyond Waldorf. Where y'all did the little comparison between the support truck and the Tremor.
Great video. Love the format. Also moving to CO later this year bc of you guys and the folks over at Out of Spec. I need mountains.
Love the videos and the good information, very cool 👍🏼
love the BMD🐶 at the back seat😜
Really loving this series! I am just unsure where I can take my full-size truck because of it's size and these videos help. Would love to see if there are any light trails my son could take his Bronco Sport Badlands which is another challenge. Looking for something we might be able to do together. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Great video! Thank you for taking us along 😊
Our pleasure!
Once again ,not everyone watches for test and compare, great video. Waiting for next week.
Red feather lakes is a great area to explore right now. Lots of open forest roads and varied difficulty. From rally stage to rock crawl.
I’m moving to Colorado in the spring. Trying to decide which Vehicle to get for Off-Roading adventures. Between the Ranger Raptor, Bronco Wild 2 door, and an F-150 powerboost.
Take the power plant tour next time and visit the Christmas Fair in December.
You guys are awesome! Thank you for a great video!!! :)
The gate was closed from the Peru creek side last weekend. Guess I need to go this way. Great vid as usual! Gimme Blaze
TFL is doing trail reviews Jeep has 20,000 off wrangler life is just an amazing time. ❤❤❤❤
Roman just look how relaxed blaze is in back seat. Tommy is the the driver
@TFL, Id love to see a trail or two where you can camp closer to the top. I know sometimes you have passed campers but typically, they've been close to the start of the trails. Great series!!
They’ve tried it before, and the oxygen deprivation made them sick so it isn’t recommended
That is one cute pup!
This def would've been a fun one to have done together while we were out west!
23:55, did this with an LR3 10 years ago without any issue.
Loving these trail videos guys! Keep imup the great work!
I would prefer proper rock sliders attached to the frame over those "steps" attached to the body...
Father and son almost look like brothers!
Great video series. Keep it up!
20:43 Sad story, when I bought manual FJ cruiser I came to this trail, unfortunately I was not to experienced with off-roading, when I came to this spot I put it on 4hi and would kill the engine a few times. I was puzzled because I thought FJ's could go anywhere, I ended backing up and going back down. later I read somewhere that since it was so steep at this point I needed lower gearing, I was supposed to use the 4lo and that would of helped me up the hill. one day I will go back and get to the top lol.
Beautiful country up that way.
The entrance is definitely a challenge with a newer vehicle . My stock Tacoma off road did it but it just wasn’t fun. My sons ‘97 Cherokee sport went up that like it was flat and smooth.
I am a little disappointed that editing missed the opportunity to show the height of Tommy's back deck. 😂
Great video of the trail, appreciate the baseline vehicle reccomendations - that's much easier for many to understand instead of 33" tires, locking dif and sliders. Because, let's be honest not everyone is going to want to drive a XJ on 40's with the fenders trimmed out and a massive lift... 😂
I love these videos!
Could you guys go into detail on what type vehicle is suitable for each grade of trail level? For instance, I have a stock ‘23 Ranger 4x4, rear locker, no skid plates. What grade of trail could I handle without skid plates?
Love this content buys, will you be at overland expo weekend after next?
Another great video! But I always chuckle when people pay extra to get lockers, and then brag that they don’t have to use them. 😅
I think that last Rock crawl would have been a good display of using the one pedal drive mode.
This
What do you think of vehicles that are not 4 wheel drive, including 2 wheel drive and all wheel drive, being ticketed when driving on 4x4 designated trails on National Park Service land? Thanks for all the great content!
Enjoyed the video guys, think our Rivian R1S with the-road package can tackle this one? How about your Cybertruck?
I mean the chargers are basically right there at the trailhead...
These are def my favorite videos. However, it'd be cool if you created a little graphic animation showing the trail on a map!
This in a raptor was fun but I did got some pin stripes 😂
So here's a question... you mentioned the Tacoma TRD Off Road as a could do. Thoughts on a Frontier Pro4X? At least it has a rear locker.
Too bad you missed route b, the best part of that trail system. OnX doesn’t have it so I guess that’s why you didn’t know. I really wanted to see the tremor on those amazing water crossings.
Yeah I was hoping they would talk about the two different options to get to the mine. Either the creek trail or the dirt trail (not sure the official names) Would have been a nice addition to the information
@@caseyfloyd7750248.1B is the historic Waldorf wagon road and the most fun way to do Argentine Pass or Mount McClellan. 248.1 is the Argentine Central railroad route to the top of Mt. McClellan (part of the railroad line is non-motorized). Argentine Pass is 724.1. Unreliable resources will result in a lot of missing info unfortunately.
Them Boyz don't know about that. 😐
I wish Tatras would have these, my friends climbed Kopovsky Stit but i doubt there is any off roading like this
I love these
More tremor drives please. Push it.
Fantastic video. Where's Nathan? I know he was moving to Cali, we need some content from him.
You shoukd take your new Ram work truck up there, I have a feeling it would do "good enough" to get there.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Need to mention that for some trails in CO you STILL need an OHV sticker even if your vehicle is street legal vehicle.
Nice trail name 😎
I like this series. got a little chamber of commerce action going on…
GX 460 with off road tires but otherwise stock - yay or nay on this trail?
Would you take a stock GX 460 with good tires up this trail?
How about a 23' Tundra 1794 with a TRD lift kit? Assume yes or is it too big?
Nice little 13’er to hike there too. Great trail for that peak cause Off roaders don’t hike
Bernese Mountain Dog FTW!!!
With all the trucks you guys drive, what is your go to trucks when the camera is not rolling?
Whatever one is available at the office 😉 But to answer your question Andre owns a Chevy Colorado and Tommy owns a Land Rover LR3.
And Roman? :)
WK2? By the way, would be great to see a series on the last generation of Grand Cherokee - they’re extremely common.
so can a ford f150 lightening make up this trail...with off road tires
Thoughts on 2000 Discovery 2 on this trail with 3” lift and 295s. Also what are your thoughts on ticketing AWD for going on 4x4 required roads.
Disco 2 should be fine. Tickets should be given to AWD on 4x4 trails. This exact trail last year was blocked for over an hour by some yahoo in a Subaru who busted his axles (plural) past the mine. Had to be dragged out by a tractor. Keep the subies on the fire roads.
Were y’all in low range the entire time?
It wasn't really 89 degrees up there, right? If that truck is anything like my Wrangler the thermometer only works when you're driving above 25mph.
Roman - how are those Hoka shoes on the colorado trails?
Blaze is panting excessively, your driving is making him nervous LoL
