In my humble opinion. Final fantasy 9 is head and shoulders the best entry in the series. Seven always hogs the spotlight but there’s just a magic to nine which makes it stand out.
Currently playing FF9 and just arrived to Terra... wow. Many jrpgs get monotonous at the end, but this one just keeps surprising me. I'm sad to find out I missed the whole Chocobo side of the game as well as a few weapons. It's not really a "hard game", it puts you in difficult situations for sure. Oielbert was the hardest for me because I had Vivi and Dagger on board, with no magic to use and down to my last potions while fighting the battleship... the rest of the game has been so far, a confortable and charming ride. The story and visuals are most amazing in this game, it's like a work of art... I just recently got reminded of that, when I arrived to Terra
I'm really glad you're enjoying it. Plenty of great stuff left to experience. Plus I'm pretty sure you can still do all the Chocobo stuff on Disc 4. Terra also has an incredible soundtrack - Jack
@@EXP-Podcast I just finished it, it has truly been one of the greatest games I have played. What incredible boss fights, just when I thought I wouldn't make it, I did....and what an ending.
I love ff9 and think it’s the best game ever and I wasn’t blown away with the original moguri mod, but what they did with that last update is incredible.
Yeh it's a classic. I've only used the Moguri Mod to play the Alternate Fantasy hard mod and thought it was ok. Might Need to check the update up if you say its good? - Jack
FF9 is my favorite game. I'll buy every version of this game they make just so I always have a way to play it no matter what year or console generation we're in. I hope the rumored remake is true. For now, the Moguri mod released an update about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if you're into modding the PC version of the game, but I recommend it. I'm going to start a fresh play through this evening.
I have seen there is a new mod, and have played a bit of the Hard version of FF9 which is another change to the Moguri mod. Love it too. Also really want to get into speedrunning this game :D - Jack
Actually the 9 animated series was addressed by SE. And the studio making it (Cyber Group Studios) have talked about about it periodically for last year or so.
Ooh, interesting! The last I heard about it, the whole project was still a leaked rumour more than anything. Do you have any sources for the studio talking about it? The only things I can find is just rumours and people chatting about said rumours, and nothing in the way of any solid information (or dates! Give us dates, SQEX!!). -Mol
I played it for the first time around 2002 I think but couldn't finish it. I tried to play it several more times but I'm at the very last part for the first time ever now, in 2024. It's one of my favorites so far, but I still need to play 8, 10, 16 and finish 12 and 15. Sometimes they make them so different that it's hard to compare them, to be honest.
It's funny, usual rankings for ff games are 1.7 2.10 3.9 But I'm more 1.8 2.9 3.10/13 the same game essentially just 13 is better graphics. I'd also like to put it out there that 13s graphics were perfect enough for modern FF and we should really be focusing more on side content rather than graphics because ff7 rebirth was a graphical mess, especially with light sources.
@EXP-Podcast rebirths a decent game, but I saw myself changing my tv settings often till I realised that it didn't matter. You could stand in 1 spot and see everything perfectly well. Take a quarter step to the side and the background almost dissappear because of flare. That's just 1 of many examples. I appreciate the reply, thank you for hearing me out. Hope you have a great day.
@virtualbunksie5117 No problem. And that's a shame. Hopefully it's something that patches can fix down the line. And that'd cool. Thanks for watching :) - Jack
@@EXP-Podcast can't enjoy Final Fantasy while being rushed. So no point in playing it again after I beat it once. It was good but not being able to enjoy the game at my own pace and miss the best sword is complete bs and was a huge mistake that makes the game one of the worst Final Fantasy's. Still better than 13 15 and 16
Didn't bother me at all since steiner can reach 9999 damage easily around lvl 45 plus with shock, with just ragnorok. But I can appreciate your post, hate not having all ultimate weapons
@@AndyNinXdowhat irks me is that it's such an unfair speed run requirement too, 12 hours?!? That's virtually agonizing on the non switch versions. I've played ff9 over 8 times and never reached memoria in under 20 hours, I just feel like stealing as Zidane is so important for gear/theivary, sure we Could skip chocobo hot cold , frog hunting, freyas 100 dragon kills etc but that's a collosus grind to push until disc 4/end game I agree. It's pretty much telling the player, you pick these ultimate weapons or just 1 for steiner.

It's certainly up there! It has a charm that I can't quite put into words and some days is my favourite - Jack
Haven't played it yet, but looking forward to when I do! Excellent work!
Thanks. :) You should definitely give it a try. It's a classic - Jack
the game just have 2024 mori mod treatment ! amazing 4k 60 fps recreated all the video UHD
It looks amazing :) - Jack

This was always my favorite. For 23 years…until 16. But my dog is named Dagger haha love 9 so much!!!!

HD remaster looks like crap, I'm glad you used the ps1 OG for the majority of the footage 👍
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.I didn't have a huge problem with FF9's HD version. Thought it was much better than the treatment FF8 got - Jack
Where is Quina? This is one of the best reasons... And most powerful character
Ah I'm sure Quina might appear in another video ;) - Jack
Love it :)
Thanks mate - Jack
It was possible to make a more complex game with multiple threads.
I'll be the first to agree to that, but IX still has plenty going for it! Anything in particular you'd like to have seen? -Mol
