- Seeing as how my favourite Final Fantasy game is 20 years old, let's celebrate and take a look at some would be ideas and assets for the PS1 classic JRPG, Final Fantasy IX.
A lot gets changed during a game's development, and Final Fantasy IX had a lot of ideas that were unused, cut, and improved upon. Today I'll show you just a few of these instances. I have thrown in some concept art to expand on some ideas that I found significant. Enjoy the video, y'all.
I found most of my research from Google, and I don't think there is anything I used that was taken directly from someone that I found, but I want to credit whoever initially discovered the unused content.

P.S. I didn't wanna rip off Pikasprey's Unused Content, I just didn't know what else to call this.

I think Apetown became Eruyt Village in FF12.
FF9 was always my favorite. It's really the last 'fantasy' based FF game before Square decided boy bands were the next hot thing.
Now that this UA-cam video is 20 years old, it's time to watch it.
This is a great first video touching the first Final Fantasy I ever played. You've earned a subscription right off the bat. And you know what? I was just on the cutting room floor checking out cut FF content in games again like I did years ago. Internet activity tracking must've led me right to you LOL
Final Fantasy IX is my favorite in the series! It's so interesting seeing all these ideas that didn't make it into the final game. My favorite is the concept art for the other Job Classes. It would've been cool to see them as adventurer NPCs like the red mages you mentioned.
Dali - aside from it being a peaceful looking town there isn't much to speak of here...

I bet that Vulture enemy was based off the bird people in the film Dark Crystal.
Its known that FF9 dev team took great inspiration from that movie.

At 9:00 that village kinda reminds me of one village in Final Fantasy 8 actually, in which Laguna wakes up, I think it's at the start of the 2nd CD? Not sure anymore. The one where he needs to make a round through the village killing monsters that are invading or something (it's been a while since I've played it, my memory is pretty hazy about that one). Given what was discussed about overlapping developments between games, this might be it, no?

Watching this for the second time. The 4 guardians, yea would be hard but fun to me. Could be because I love breaking and glitching games out and studying my favorites (why I’m here again) but the only hard one I saw was Steiner and vivi. Freya can heal and Amarant can heal. It’s about items you equip and learn. Snake girl… auto life I guess. Best route probably best for if she blows you up like memoria. But vivi is just bad to me. Love him but just bad. Steiner can barely be amazing if you can get lucky in that fight. I see potential 😅
