  • We made this drift trike over the Christmas holiday just to see if pipe bender is capable of making different types of bends. Its very limited to what it can do but its good enough for us.
    Here's a measurements description of this frame.
    Two main pipes that makes up the frame is 65 inches long(165cm)
    They were bent 130°degrees at 25 inch mark (64cm)
    Foot rests or pegs are 20 inches long (50cm) and were bent 130° degrees at 7 inch(18cm) mark.
    Seat support or seat rest pipes are 20 inches each(50cm) and they are bent 90° degrees at 4 inch(10cm) mark. Then they are welded together to form that type of form. Rear handle is made the same way but the length is up to you. Two ears or axle supports are 30 inches long(76cm) and are bent 130° degrees at 10 inch(26cm) mark on each side. All measurements are approximate and can be modified to fit the persons height and length during the build process.
    Размеры рамы приблизительно потому что я мерил в дюймах но в см почти точно. Две главные трубы (160см каждая) и согнуты они под 130 градусов на метке 60см. (Между 60см и 100см)
    Подножки для ног 50см каждая и согнуты на метке 16см под 130 градусов. Длина трубы которая является опорой для сидения 48см каждая а потом они сварены вместе. Изгиб под 90 градусов на метке 8см. Два уха на которых держится задняя ось с подшипниками 80см. Два изгиба по 130 градусов с каждой стороны на метке 26см.

    Amazing drift trike!!!! where can I get that rear go kart parts?

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  7 років тому

      Marco Avila
      Go kart parts online are not cheap. Rear axle with tires, bearings, sprocket and brake can run you as much as $400. I took most of these parts off of my go kart that was sitting around collecting dust. Your best bet is to find a rolling chassis go kart and use those parts for your project. That way you can swap them back and forth and you'll have both toys to play with. Good luck bud. 👍

      wallys wheels
      My brake lines were too short to make a foot brake so I just looped them underneath the seat to the other side and made a hand brake instead. Worked out great. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers.

      Dat Boi
      After watching other people's videos it seemed like a good idea but after building it now I know that it's a design flaw. Engine should be in front of the axle and front tire should be closer to the frame. It's a trial and error project which will help me improve on my next build.

    Looks great. Its awesome to see your kid helping you out. thats what its all about. Id get a larger rear sprocket though to avoid wearing out the clutch and bogging the engine down from start. It should make it a lot more responsive with more torque available to the wheels when you punch the gas. E-brake is awesome too, and ive seen them on the front pedal. Is it a pain to have one hand on the handle bars and one on the e-brake?

      My kid wanted a drift trike to do 360 but this one didn't turn out as I hoped. It drifts but doesn't do 360. I'm guessing bad design and improper weight distribution? It's ok we can always make another one LOL :)

    simply the BEST trike build I've seen on UA-cam. Although, the handlebars are kinda throwing me off so I would suggest that you get the beach cruiser wide/long handlebars. Since you're not doing any major tricking, those would definitely help with the aesthetics and the comfort of the ride even on wide turns. Beautiful build. Congratulations!

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  7 років тому +1

      Surlyman
      This project was cheap to build because I already had parts for it on hand. My son wanted to build a trike so we took the seat, axle with wheels and rear brake caliper off of our go kart. Front fork with handle bars were free. Found several bmx frames on Craigslist in free section. Paid $25 for 2 long pipes (21feet each) and made a frame out of that. The most expensive items will be rear axle with wheels, engine, and seat. Clutch will run you around 40 to 50 bucks.
      My project came out to no more then 150 bucks and that's including paint and materials. Your build will be much more expensive unless you find old go kart that you can use for parts. Good luck bud.

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  7 років тому

      Valentin Bastgen
      Usually the cable is attached to the throttle linkage and not directly to the carburetor. Does your engine have linkage or is it missing? Here's what you need to make your engine run www.ebay.com/itm/201790002591
