This isn’t new for Samsung, throw a bunch of features at people and maybe they’ll work, maybe they won’t. I can’t wait to see the results for Garmin, considering they’re charging even more for their watches, despite them previously not having the best results.

Seriously. I’m an upgrade fanatic and have been tempted to switch from apple ecosystem but nothing on the market could compete with my Apple Watch Ultra (from durability and HR tracking perspective). On a couple occasions these reviews save me a few thousand dollars.
I think you should try the W7 and Ultra with a different strap. I am very curious about the results. Because when I used a fabric strap instead of the original silicone strap, my cycling measurements started to be more consistent. I used the silicone strap today to try it out and since my wrist was constantly moving due to sweat, there were always skips in between. So I don't know why Samsung hasn't been able to solve this for years or if these new sensors need a software update. It would be great if you could test it again when the new software update comes out and also test it with a different cord and take a video. At least we can see if it gets fixed or not. Because as users, we can't see if anything has improved during the update process. Also, the new sensors seem to be a little more affected by sweat. I also tried the watch in the pool, and believe me, it was much more compatible with my heart rate when it was constantly wet. But in normal workouts, my arm was very sweaty and it sometimes felt like it was acting ridiculous. And..... I got SS's from your first video. While ULtra and W7 offer 0.97 accuracy in the graphs. In the current graph, W7 appears around 0.75. What is the reason for this decrease? Such small deviations are acceptable, but can we say that the reason for such deviation is either the watch is broken or the value cannot be read from the hand? Is it possible to reach other high accuracy watches right now, I don't know if we can test the top of the list again, but for new watches I think it would be healthier to conduct tests with different people.
I was going to buy the Ultra but after I watched your first review, I decided to wait. I'm so glad I did. I'm a data nerd. I need to get accurate results. I am going to stick to my chest strap and my Garmin for now and eventually get a Huawei.

Looking forward to see the review of the mi band 9 because it’s so cheap that in some ways you are able to accept its shortcomings - I can’t say the same for Samsungs products.. For so many years they cannot made a good watch with good HR sensor and at the same time connecting external HR is soooo cumbersome/impossible. WTF Samsung? Get out from under the rock you guys
Thank you for your review! Are the results more accurate if you use both the Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Ring? Is there anyway you could do an abbreviated two - or three day test to see if adding the ring into the mix makes the data better or worse? Thanks again, as always.
Hello Rob, are you 100% sure about comparing all products to just one reference Polar H10? Is it accurate enough? Is your model working fine? How well would end a comparison of your reference band to other competitive products? Is it possible that Samsung uses other devices (with other results than Polar H10) as a reference?

This week I had to go to the medical examination for my driving license D and I immediately had the Samsung watch 7 Ultra tested. Heart rate had an deviation of 5. Blood pressure read 141-95 while the doctor's blood pressure monitor showed 123-85. Blood oxygen showed 91% on the watch while the doctor measured 97%. The watch measured steps of 1 meter while my steps are 70 cm. According to the watch my fat content was 31%, while my fat content is 22%. My sleep measurements do not correspond with my sleep apnea box that monitors my sleep, and the Sleep cycle app also provides different data than the watch (while the watch and the app are connected. In short, just bad, just like any Samsung watch.. Also after the battery update my battery went from 2 days and 5 hours to 3 days and 10 hours but now two/three weeks later the battery dropped again under the 2 days.. WTF Samsung lol..
The watch will never be able to measure your step length. When you run with the watch you use gps to track distance. Mine are fine regarding HR, but i have seen blood pressure which is wrong. But remember you have to use the exact same setting to measure your blood pressure as when you tested the watch.
Unbelievable how Galaxy fanboys ignore scientific data, they say that Rob is sponsored by Apple and they are lying to themselves. Just accept the truth, Samsung will never match Apple in data accuracy, and this is the most important thing

Truly exceptional review. None of the other reviews from popular channels on UA-cam even come close. I've been enjoying the Galaxy Watch Ultra. From my own tests against the Apple Watch Ultra 2 - Heart rate for both devices match up quite well for exercises that are not super intense like walking and treadmill. Other exercises where heart rate can dip and rise quickly, I found Galaxy Watch Ultra lagging a bit detecting those (similar to findings here) - I've been quite happy with GPS performance using precision start. Total distance match up very closely with Apple Ultra 2 - For sleep I've found the total time asleep time are quite similar between the 2 watches. The sleep stages are definitely off - With the same data on both watches, calorie burn numbers are quite a bit different. I don't know which one i should trust more.. 😅
Which one would you recommend for me with a pixel 8 pro...should i get the galaxy watch 7 or the pixel watch 3 45mm?? I need accurate fitness tracking and gym workouts
Hi, can you make a review of all the budget smartwatches like kospet tank, mibro, realme etc. It is known that cheap watches are not good but it would be good to know which one is the best among the budget range.
Perhaps you have a messed up unit or could be wearing it a bit off? I say this because i compared mine against that very same polar chest strap and the watch was quite accurate for indoor & outdoor cycling everytime. For lifting, it was quite off. Only thing i'm unable to test is sleep tracking as i don't have a reliable device to compare it too.
I've been wearing mine and comparing to the treadmills heart rate monitors various times during workout & it's been 1 or 2 bpm variance so for me seems to be pretty good
I agree. My personal numbers and experience is not what his is. I've also watched chase the summit, DC Rainmaker and desfit and none of them are talking about the experience that he has. I almost feel like he's got a bad unit.
I mean he’s had the same result for the Galaxy Watch 5 and 6 series, so have I. If it was just this watch then sure chalk it up to a bad unit but it seems to be just the watch in general. The Apple Watches seem to work just fine.
nice video. I wai ting for the video to the pixel watch 3 and pixel watch 3 XL.. I would be interested to know what is measured in a stress EKG and in a sleep laboratory. Could you do this for future videos to get even more precise results. I think your videos are very good.
I have the GW7U and HR is definitely hit or miss. You need to have the Heart Rate measuring app active for an accurate reading. Glancing at the HR complication data shows HR that's way too high for me. The moment I open the HR app It drops to an accurate reading (compared to a Polar H10 chest strap)
During training, continuous pulse measurement is already active, why open anything else? If it is true so it is necessary to fire the developers of Samsung software
Mine is precise. Also when running. Cycling has shown some issues with slow update of HR and 10 beats off in both directions. I once had 30 beats off but it was because i didn't have the watch tight enough on my arm.
Rob, I've had a lot of strange readings from my Polar H10 heart monitor over the last two months (after it working fine(?) for the last year). Have you had this issue? Note: I wear a Fitbit at the same time and it remains steady when the H10 gives odd readings. I've replaced the chestband twice but still am having problems.
Excellent long term review! I'm finding that there is a big difference between a Smartwatch and a dedicated health meter. Smartwatches are really loosing their appeal with me. Thanks for all of your correlation and calculation efforts.
If Samsung would add native connectivity tot a external HRM it would be a huge difference. I use my apple watch for years now to detect my workouts. For my runs I always connect to an external HRM. To get the most accurate Hr. But for hiking and badminton I just use the internal HRM. And like I learnt here I know the results are pretty spot on. For cycling I have a karoo on my bike, connected with my chest HRM. The battery life is maybe a downside. But I even ran a marathon with an 2 years old watch 3. (and not a fast one. Almost 5 hours. Still had 20% left). I charge my watch wen i'm in front of the TV. So to me there's no problem. I also have a galaxy watch 5. And I used that for many months. But there was a clear trend. My Hr reading were always lower then what my apple watch would give.
Watching your review makes me more confuse tho. So.....What's the point for samsung making this smartwatch? If this device perform quiet the same with their other regular version. Im so excited when i get notified from youtube when you upload this, and i save it for my best time on this monday to watch, hoping this test result is worth the wait, but guess what? I just watch the same video twice. Only the watch appearance of the watch is different this time.

Samsung Health isn't even a qualified health tracker in the US. Garmin, Apple Health and fitbit are the top 3. I had to turn off most samsung health and use fit bit track system in my work health challenge 😩. I will be pairing my Samsung phone with Pixel watch 3 soon, im going to predict this will me a match made in heaven 💍..great reviews always. thanks.
I am speculating - but I think the problem is not in sensors - but instead in the software that handles them. (including the quality of the QA team responsible for testing the software).
Literally, the first thing I did after I saw your video was go to Best Buy and get the Ultra. I had to accept that even with all the information and reviews I saw, I was going to get it anyway. I was just hoping the watch would be a bit better, but the reality is that I'm getting it because I like the design, and I'm not sure how to feel about this. But I have to say, it does look really good and feels nice to have it on.
That's okay. People spend much more on expensive watches that don’t offer any features besides an analog clock. They buy them for their looks, so even if the features on the Watch Ultra aren't that impressive, you can still do much more with it than with a $1,000 watch that only tells time.
I've been one of Samsung's biggest critics for activity tracking but the GPS was much better with the Galaxy Watch 6 and now on my Galaxy Watch Ultra GPS tracking has been absolutely on point. Way more accurate than my Apple Watch Ultra and even my Fenix 7. Can't really say much about HR accuracy as I only ever take that with a pinch of salt personally on any device
I'm convinced...I'm getting the pixel watch 3 45mm...thank you for this review... And this is me coming from a galaxy watch 4 paired to a pixel 8 pro...I was clearly getting horrible readings
Amazing review, thanks for all the hard work, I have the galaxy watch 4 and things don't have seemed to improved much in terms of accuracy Very disappointing considering how accurate the apple watches are.
Sir, there are rumors that fitbit charge 7 will be released in September. Do you think that will happen? I am looking forward to the new fitbit watch because I am forced to use the Charge 6, which has a broken side button, and the results of the Galaxy Watch are disappointing.
i had fitbit inspire 3, and find it has a very poor HR following during hIIT type of sports, it misses the peak, and also would stop detecting my HR, sometimes, I feel really out of breath, but it only shows 90 on the device. trust this channel , and bought a Galaxy watch 2, couldnt be happier, the HR is so good, best for android devices, now i can tell whenever I feel out of breath, it is howing 180 on my watch!
Thank you for the review. I kept waiting for it holding off the purchase of Galaxy Watch Ultra since I am hooked on Samsung echosystem. Now having seen the review, I am not going to buy this one as it is mediocre at best in terms of fitness tracking. I still have old HUAWEI watch that I purchased in 2020 for 150 EUR - and it still keeps 10 days of battery and apparently has better heartrate tracking than 699 EUR Galaxy Watch Ultra in 2024.
You said that for sleep tracking the algorithm is more important than the sensor. I wonder how the results would change when you use a Watch with for example "Sleep as android" to calculate the stages. I use my Mi Band 6 like this but don't have w reference device.
Greetings from Finland! I love your channel, great work 👍 Could you do update video for huawei gt 3 pro sleep tracking cause it had special update in June. Your reference device is changed but still would like to see if that model sleep tracking have improved. I ordered that watch few days ago based on your tests and I'm only conserned about sleep tracking performance .
Dunno why kinda expecting this result ? Never trust any of those "First Impression" Video. Its commonly know for Samsung or other company to instructed youtuber to release "First impression Video" that prohibite them to review the detail of their product during pre order period. Thats why more and more youtuber are releasing so call "First Impression" and "In deep Review" But since u claimed you are not sponsor the comment section when I asked about it. I would assume it that way.
This is a review... There are 2 UA-cam chanels that make real reviews, you are one of them. By the way, your results were consistent with the other good chanel. I have the 7 (non ultra) and after my first bike ride I understood it wasn't an improvement over the Galaxy Watch 4. I don't know what Samsung is thinking...
Thanks for your in depth review. You could also mentioned the firmware in your watch. Seems disappointing with the health metrics. Can’t understand as to how a better and upgraded sensor fails to improve upon the accuracies. I strongly doubt that Samsung algorithms are gross shit and needs proper code rectification to set right the results. Thank God they haven’t priced it at par with Apple Ultra. 😢
You all forget HR is highly variable because we all wear a watch differently. The GPS on the ultra is very precise and HR for running is also very good. That's what i use it for.

He promised to do it on another person in a previous video but it seems that promise was broken.
Ik heb net de Apple Watch Ultra 2 gekocht, erg blij mee! Ik hoop dat de gegevens een beetje accuraat zijn.
Samsung Health isn't even a qualified health tracker in the US. Garmin, Apple Health and fitbit are the top 3. I had to turn off most samsung health and use fit bit track system in my work health challenge 😩. I will be pairing my Samsung phone with Pixel watch 3 soon, im going to predict this will me a match made in heaven 💍..great reviews always. thanks.
Are there any plans for a review regarding the Garmin Fenix 8?
Yes! I contacted Garmin, and they would send a watch as as soon as one is available (it isn't right now)
@@TheQuantifiedScientistyou're a failed scientist 😂😂😂
Samsung makes so good and innovative products why they can’t make good sensors I can’t understand that
I am speculating - but I think the problem is not in sensors - but instead in the software that handles them. (including the quality of the QA team responsible for testing the software).
@@uamade you are right. Samsung software is pure garbage
Cant wait for the mi band 9 review!!
i hope you could review Garmin Enduro 3 and T-Rex 3
Looking forward to your review of the Garmin Fenix 8 :)
Thumbs up for Garmin Fenix 8 review 🔥
When Samsung market this as an Ultra but fails to live up to the health metrics accuracy
Cara, pensei em trocar de gadget pelas “inovações” da Samsung, mas vendo esses testes, permaneço com meu Apple Watch! Obrigado.
Could u test the oneplus watch 2R, i just want to know if it performs the same or better than the 2.
Thanks for sharing
Be interesting to see how the lighter less bulky Galaxy watch 7 would do?
Can you analyze the Fenix 8? Love your work
WOW this is really eye opening and incredibly disappointing! Back to my Huawei Fit 3. As always THANK YOU for another great review
Sir, there are rumors that fitbit charge 7 will be released in September. Do you think that will happen? I am looking forward to the new fitbit watch because I am forced to use the Charge 6, which has a broken side button, and the results of the Galaxy Watch are disappointing.
how much longer should we wait for mi band 9 review plsssss
Is there a place where I can find the rankings for each category with the whole device list?
i had fitbit inspire 3, and find it has a very poor HR following during hIIT type of sports, it misses the peak, and also would stop detecting my HR, sometimes, I feel really out of breath, but it only shows 90 on the device. trust this channel , and bought a Galaxy watch 2, couldnt be happier, the HR is so good, best for android devices, now i can tell whenever I feel out of breath, it is howing 180 on my watch!
great review as always.
could you please do a review of xiaomi watch s3?
Du bist genial danke für das Video,🔥🤘
Hoi, in jouw intro zie je dat je een MRI apparaat ingaat, heb je toegang tot de MRI-apparaat voor de UA-cam video's of ben je arts?
will you do garmin fenix 8 or Huawei watch 4 pro?
hi~ any chance to test the new MiBand 9? Thanks!
Can you test the new Fitbit firmware?
Is there still a chance for the Xiaomi Watch 2?
Greetings from Finland!
I love your channel, great work 👍
Could you do update video for huawei gt 3 pro sleep tracking cause it had special update in June.
Thats why more and more youtuber are releasing so call "First Impression" and "In deep Review"
But since u claimed you are not sponsor the comment section when I asked about it. I would assume it that way.
Can you set up a schematic to test out which watch/band scores on the CrossFit WOD?
oh wow, I’ve never been this early! excited to hear your findings on the galaxy watch ultra
Hope you enjoy it!
so basically I have a Casio on my wrist, great
Definitely is not a good tracker for the price, thanks for sharing, is amazing what you do. Congratulations this channel is the best 👌🏻
I ordered a Hauwei watch fit 3 with velcro strap...definitely I will wait for Galaxy watch 8 or 9
I'm hoping you'll get the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 review out soon!
Are you going to test the sensor on the Enduro 3?
Waiting for your review on Suunto race s
I have compared by watch 7 (not ultra) with my omron (BP) and kardia (ECG) doesnt look bad at all?
Its been long. We want MI band 9 review. I have already purchased it. Lets hope your review makes best out of it.
Is it possible to pair a Samsung watch with a chest strap? And with which belt and in what way is it done?
its impossible. Even with a third party apps.
I'd love to see your review on the Suunto Race or Race S watches.
Which one is the other channel you mentioned?
@@secretmediagmbh3929 It's @Dcrainmaker
Thanks for your in depth review. You could also mentioned the firmware in your watch. Seems disappointing with the health metrics. Can’t understand as to how a better and upgraded sensor fails to improve upon the accuracies. I strongly doubt that Samsung algorithms are gross shit and needs proper code rectification to set right the results. Thank God they haven’t priced it at par with Apple Ultra. 😢
I have the dream 2 but how do you export data from the device?
You all forget HR is highly variable because we all wear a watch differently. The GPS on the ultra is very precise and HR for running is also very good. That's what i use it for.
