"I can hear that there's a ticking so what that tells me is that there's probably something going on in the cylinder head or worse the bottom end." Well, that narrows it down.
Still don't understand why youtubers "test" an engine by trying to start it. Remove the spark plugs, get your ratchet on the crank and turn it over. Inspect the tops of the pistons for damage etc and replace the oil and spark plugs if they're fouled. By firing it up without doing any of that, you might have done more damage to your $80,000 motor.
Because a modern engine isn't likely to have the problems an older style engine would. That, and you need to actually know HOW it functions to identify issues. They're going to replace or machine anything that is 'fouled up' so it's better to start it up (if possible) to formulate a quick list of potential issues. If you know how the engine is supposed to sound and function, knowing issues as well as they do, if it has a rough crank or is seized, it's not going to start anyway. You're gonna realize that when you try, and it's going to give you a different starting point than if you were to just remove a bunch of plugs, probe with a camera, and check it for actual physical problems... which he does after verifying the car WILL start and run. Same goes for other kinds of repair, say, electronics. If it doesn't function at all, no power, gonna have to start with that before you start with things like a screen repair or a new battery. Make sure the engine will actually do anything other than be dead, before you decide to invest a bunch of time checking over things. Because that's a much deeper rebuild process. His first video on this car also featured him starting it, so he knew it would before it left. A car that starts is worth a lot more than a car that doesn't. Knowing where the value is tends to be key to a project.
if it dousn't start the price drops right down or walk away am guessing he knew all along the engine starts and if a remember right its had half a dozen owners since it was crashed and they all give up on it
I was in the motor trade for 22 years, this looks an incredible piece of design work!! So many ancillaries around the engine these days, I think I would walk away, this guy is awesome, good luck, refitting should be fun 😤🤬🤬🤬
Not to be the "actually" guy but: Pushrod suspensions don't lower the center of gravity. Note how high up the shock/sprint units are in the chassis. What they do is reduce unsprung mass. That is, instead of the mass of the shock and spring moving with the control arm, a relatively light pushrod transfers the control arm movement to the spring/shock unit. They also have the added benefit of the load always going straight into the end of the shock and spring, so there's no sideways loading which can cause minor binding in the shock, which would affect how it works.
Just want to say it's great to see you with the boys just having a great time tearing this car down. You can't fake the pure joy and happiness in your voice and actions, happy you have such great friends and support around you! Keep these coming!

That Aventador in Chalk (or potentially Balloon White and it's inside I can't see the superfine metallic)... looks absolutely amazing.... either color really would look phenomenal on an Aventador.... especially yours when you're done with the Blu (Nethuns? Amon?) interior accents...add some matched Blu calipers and _potentially_ blue anodized centerlocks, and she'd be fire.... nothing else...or you could just get some Forgeline CF/FF/or NT3C wheels instead of those black Lamborghini wheels, look much better 👌🏽😅
Replace the piston. I had a car(not a Lambo) that bent a valve and just put a little nick in the piston. I did a valve job and put the head back on. The compression blew a hole in the piston and scored the cylinder. Happens once in a blue moon.
What happens with the "molecules" in the metal when it's deformed? the metal has is made from grains like sand and these grains has defects called dislocation lines that starts to move under load, when these move, they get trapped thus decreasing the ability to move. Meaning the ductility is less. By doing this the metal will have a higher strength before deforming but the total energy the metal can absorb before failure is less. Adding heat through welding will cause crystal grain growth, leading to a less ductile metal that will reduce the strength even more. You also form unwanted brittle crystals between the grains due to diffusion of alloying elements from the grains to the grain boundary that can lead to intergranular fracture, where the grains separate. That's pretty bad. Also you loose corrosion resistance 😅
I can truly appreciate what you do man ! Like rebuilding totaled exotics is top tier. Lotta UA-camrs buy an old R-32 and like put new wheels and a digital cluster and some blitz wheels and it’s a rebuild. NAw THESE are rebuilds. Amazing

The 4 strokes do not occur 8500 times per minute... That 8500 is the revolutions of the crank per minute, and it takes 2 revolutions to go through all 4 operations. That makes for 4250 per minute. BUUUUT that happens in each of the 12 cylinders so it's actually happening 51,000 times per minute :)
