Cattail stalks as tinder

Probably preaching to the choir but didn't realize the stalks crushed up and twisted make a good tinder bundle. Always concentrated on the fluff which really is only a flast tinder. pretty neat to me to know this.

yes, it is the stalks or at least the thin sections on the stalk; they go the length of the plant

thankyou...it is the leaves really and not the main stalk itself.

guess I should make that clearer...it is not the center part(the main stalk) but the sheaths that grow up on it.

Just to be clear. You are using the stalks not the dried leaves off the stalks?
