That’s dedication to the craft right there. Apart from fungus, two of my favourite natural’s are cattail and thistle down. I was going to say roll it into a ball but you did that anyway, gets all those little seeds out and just leaves you with a dense ball of down.
Cattail was the first plant I learned, and it's freaking awesome. Many uses. You can grow it easily. Use it for insulation, fire starting, natural cordage, baking flour.... It's basically on par with the sun choke as far as 'added value' is concerned.
@@Johnhanddrill Yeah man. I grew up in Texas, basically in a desert, and cattail was definitely a go-to, as well as willow. Both grow around water, so if you saw either you were like "Oh HELLZ YEAH!!!" cause you're in a desert and it sucks.
cattail is one of the most important survival plants. a military survival instructor joked about this too. if a pilot is shot down and he ends up in a cattail are, he basically won the lottery. water, fire, shelter, food and many other applications.

One of the cool things about cattail, is that it's like a potato.
You can cut its roots up and replant the pieces to grow more.

I made a backpack for my girlfriend out of cattail cordage.
