zahoor kamal most likely the iPhone X will update what it knows about your face and it's many shapes over time as you scan yourself which would be how you could do things like grow beards and change other attributes without it being a problem.
I'm kind of weirdo too :-) I'm right handed, but for ages used to wear any watch on my right hand. People wearing Apple Watch on right hand usually wear it with crown on the right side to reach the crown with left thumb. Well, my crown is on the left side and somehow it felt right and natural for me from the beginning :-)
Well, I was featured in this video at 0:13. I couldn’t see the logic behind this, but given your lifestyle I can see why this absolutely makes sense for you and your reasoning behind it. It’s great that Apple gives you the options. Love my Apple Watch! Great reply and video as always.
Love this! Thank you! I had not seen that setting. There is one other great reason for reverse crown orientation -- I sometimes unintentionally invoke Siri when I bend my wrist backwards. This happens most frequently when I work out and wear work-out gloves. No more of that with reverse crown!
Just love your videos , ALWAYS straight to the point and informative with real world reviews and not sitting at a desk with ambient lighting !!! 🙌🏾👍🏾🤙🏾
I don't really care about the reverse crown orientation lol but I wanna say that this is about the only video I found that nicely shows off the gold watch with that specific strap, nice close-ups etc. I needed that to make up my mind. Thanks.
Thank you Serenity for showing me a better way to wear my Apple Watch!!! Both my wife and I tried it the way you are wearing and it is SOOO much better! We are both right handed and wear our watches on the left wrist. We always wore them with the crown on the right hand side and constantly complained about bumping the button or the crown or activating Siri. Once I saw this video I suggested we try it and it has been brilliant. Using the crown with your right hand is no issue as you sort of naturally position your hand with the thumb on the left and index finger on the right hand side of the watch anyway as you reach for it, the only difference is you now use your thumb on the crown instead of the index finger. Since the change we have had no accidental button presses and haven't had Siri waiting for us to talk to her! Thank you again!
Your roller derby reason is similar to one of my primary reasons. I’m a truck driver, and whenever I fuel, or when I’m opening trailer doors, I always inadvertently trigger Siri when wearing in regular orientation. As you said, it’s MUCH more ergonomical, too.
Yep. I'm sold on this orientation for the apple watch. I constantly hit the crown button with my wrist when cycling and just moving around, even with a bumper case on. Flipping the watch really reduced that a lot, and now the crown doesn't dig into my wrist when I flex my hand. I think that because of how easy it was to bump the crown, it also occasionally messed up my strava running workouts and commuter cycling workouts.
I wear my Apple Watch inside out. It will makes it more attractive, actually there are 2 peoples comes to me and ask what watch is it? I told them is Apple Watch X
I wear mine on my right wrist as I’m left handed, also reverse crown style. Took me a while to realise I could swap the strap around too which made it easier to fasten
I have been wearing mine this way from day one before anyone else knew you could and i still love it it makes much better sense to use it and wear it this way. It should have been this way standard
Thank you for pointing this out. As a lefty who wears the watch on his left arm - this tip makes it so much easier for me to control with my right hand. Brilliant as always. Your advice as always is informative, helpful and spot on.
I had no idea!! I do a lot of yoga and hand balance work so this literally fixed the issue of accidentally summoning Siri or calling emergency services when doing press ups and handstands etc !! Thank youuuuu
Viewing it from your perspective fixed many of my issues, I play rugby and I have my air pods in when I'm training, I had the same issue when I fell or came into contact with someone my music stops but ever since I started wearing the watch like you that issue got fixed.
I saw a Taiwanese UA-camr wear the same way and I decided to give it a try when I purchase my Apple Watch S6, no regrets or annoyance whatsoever~ sorta feel the same as Fitbit (my previous watch). Glad to find more people wearing it this way~
I didn’t even know this was a thing. I wear mine on my left wrist and at work I have to wear gloves. With the crown on the right the gloves constantly wake the phone and ends up opening random apps and I always found this super annoying! This fixes that and like you stated actually feels like it makes more sense! Kudos to you!!!
I think you totally made sense and great idea! I also think it’s incredible that you only had one scratch on your original Apple Watch even playing roller derby! Thank you again for making me feel confident and comfortable to rock the Apple Watch series 3 without case or screen protector, looks so much better that way.
Warren Rohr I’ve never seen anyone using a case or a screen protector on the watch, I never thought someone would wear those things, they look horrible haHahHa. And if scratches bother you so much, you should consider buying the stainless steel version, I had one, and the screen was almost unscratchable, once I bumped into a metal handrail and when I checked, there was painting on my screen, I just removed it with my nail and it was still perfect. You will get a lot of light scratches on the body though, but it still looks good, unlike the aluminium ones
Ricardo Fialho Henriques Cool thanks for the reply! I’ve been rocking it without any case or screen protector and love it and I totally would’ve got the stainless steel Version but I couldn’t afford it I’m happy with the aluminum one it’s holding up so far.
This makes so much more sense. I turned off Emergency Auto-Call for fear of holding the button while flexing my wrists. I could re-enable it with this orientation. It's especially bad if you are wearing gloves.
I switched to this orientation because my watch kept taking screenshots when I would flex my wrist backwards. Somehow doing that pressed both the buttons. I know this feature can be disabled but I still want to be able to take an occasional screenshot. After I changed to the reverse orientation I realized using my thumb to press the crown was easier and more comfortable.
O-M-G, this is brilliant! Ok, I’m going to try this orientation and test it out for a day. It looks a bit odd, but totally makes sense for all the reasons you pointed out! 3 years in and I may have been doing a disservice to my Apple Watch. Lol.
I love this idea it totally makes sense talking to the speaker I’m constantly talking to my watch and it’s never picking up because it’s covered by my sleeve thank you for posting this video this is the way I’m going to wear my watch for an outline also using the crown make sense to because it is awkward when it’s on the right side but on the left it is so much easier
I actually switched it exactly the same way and saw the same benefits the second day when I started wearing my Apple Watch. Best way to wear the watch in my opinion.
I really appreciate this video. I know people who are left handed flip the screen and wear it on the right. I never though about using this and I think I'm gonna keep it this way
I learn to use it like that. Cause when I would lift weights my hand would fold and it would make phone calls. But it was cool to watch this video. I’m still getting a hang of using the crown to the left. But after watching this video. It helped.
I have always wore it that way from day two… and since it may be configured whichever way anyone wants, I didn't know this was a thing or not… it indeed just seemed the best way to wear it, protecting the buttons…
My husband recently gifted me with an apple watch. First thing I asked him since I wear the watch on my left wrist was can you make the screen turn so I can have the buttons facing me? He said absolutely! I didn't realize this was an issue for people. It is most comfortable for me for the same reasons you mentioned. I don't like the knobs touching my hand and feel like they are protected by have them towards me as you showed in the video! ;-) Your video popped up after searching what is red dot on watch... nice video!
I wear mine exactly like you do on the same hand. My wrist doesn't bump the button when I bend my wrist and as a server by occupation it's better for me this way
I tried reverse crown when I first got it, but couldn't get into it. It was uncomfortable to me. It means I have to reach around the watch, reaching further, and do tend to partly cover the screen. Top right feels very normal and natural to me
Great video! I’m always accidentally adjusting the volume and getting that annoying little beep when driving and making a turn while listening to Bluetooth audio from my iPhone since WatchOS 4. I’m going to try wearing my watch this way and seeing if it helps.
Omg I had no idea that this was even out of the ordinary. Honestly everyone should try it. I hated using it on my right hand so I switched it over and for the first day kept clicking the crown or taking screenshots so I flipped it just like that. I’ve used it like this for 2 years and I’ve never even thought of it as being out of place until I saw this.
I also wear my series 2 the same way. But I do it for working out and lifting weights. If i would wear it the way you call traditional . When I do push ups , pull ups or bench press I would push the crown in and it would make the watch do something I didn't want it to. Because the back of my hand would push on the the crown when my wrist was pushed backwards. I also think it would put excessive pressure on the crown . Which I think would possible damage the button or lose the water resistance.
If you're wearing the watch in a way that the back of your hand can touch the crown your wrist is either broken or you wear your watch way up on your wrist which isn't how a watch is supposed to be worn. I just did pushups to test this and my hand doesn't come anywhere close to touching the crown. :-|
I never even knew there was a wrong or right way. When I first got my watch I put it on my right wrist since I’m left handed and it just felt better. I also put it “upside down” or reverse crown because it just felt right. I didn’t know it was an actual thing until I saw this video lol.
Kudos on Roller Derby! I used to be a referee for 3-4 years. Couldn't be a player because I also did ballet - Lesser chance of being injured. And for the topic at hand, if I used an Apple Watch, I'd wear it like you too because it seems more logical.
After watching this video, I tried it and wondered why I did do this sooner, ? Wearing it reversed protects the crown and stops me from accidental button pushes. Thank you for the info.
Totally agree! During kickboxing, while wearing the boxing gloves, I would sometimes pause the workout and not get all the information I wanted. Good tip.
@imore Finally, someone who understands! I am using an Apple watch for more than two years, and only used it the “right” way for about a month. When I found the setting, to turn it the other way round, it stayed that way since today, for all the reasons you explain in the video, and it makes perfect sense!!! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m left handed and the I agree with you. The crown is protected while bending the wrists... Excellent point! Even though I won’t wear it on my left wrist...
Finally! Someone who got it ! This is the best way to use the Apple Watch ... ever ! Many person I meet do often change their orientation to "reverse" once I make them try. Moreover, you are totally right with sports. With the other orientation, push-up would often summon Siri (I do not use pause with 2 buttons) and was a pain. Thanks for clarifying everything.
I’ve always used watches this way. Even before the Apple Watch. If you do any kind of activity that requires a lot of wrist bending you’d get the analog watches crown marked in your hand
I wear mine that way too, I do it because I cycle a lot and when I stand up on the pedals and lean down on my wrists I often press the crown thus stopping my workout, just like your roller derby issue.
I used to wear mine like this (for all of about 15 seconds) before someone told me I was wearing it wrong. My co workers set up the watch for me, so I didn’t really question them. But after a few daysㅡ just like you I ended up pressing the buttons on the side 24/7 when getting up. I do a lot of crouching and sitting randomly around my place of employment and when I go to get up I generally fold my left wrist back to help get up. So my hand was constantly pressing the crown.
+Nick Lemen American female here that uses Australian female Siri. Sometimes I forget the default Siri is not an Aussie and I get so confused. Lol I can't go back to anything else.
I agree with you. I’ve always worn my I watch this direction, it just felt better. Also, I was tired of taking screenshots every time I bent my wrist too much.
I’ve worn the watch almost the same as you from the first version, same reason for the mic, same reason for the wrist bending and hitting both buttons. The only different in your vs mine is the crown is in the top. Why, because balance didn’t matter to me. My fingers are long and I may be more ambidextrous. I’m more right handed, but I wear it on my right wrist. My left long index finger goes to the top left corner of the Watch, whiskey my left hand long thumb pushes in in the crown. The other three left fringes rest on top of my right hand comfortably. I can scroll with the thumb and crown and select with the index finger, or use my left index finger to scroll and select. Although I agree the mic is a lot better in the series 3 vs the original one, I still like the speaker pointing to my fingers since I have trouble hearing, this way I can simply raise my hand towards my right side of the face and hear the conversation better. As you said, it’s been an option from the start to fit all kinds of people and lifestyles, and it’s ultimately up to you.
Yep I always wear mine like that because when I wore it the other way every time I would bend my wrist it would set off the watch, esp when I would bench press, once I switched it though, no issues
Thanks for this video! I’ve never thought of this and I’m so glad you posted on it. I have the issue with activating Siri often during workouts, especially during yoga. This will help!
My IT professional daughter wears it as you do for much the same reasons and has since she got her series 1 soon after release. I am more traditional, however, and perhaps just to lazy to swap it around. It hasn't been a problem. Good to have choice.
Still applies to Series 5. Superior way for sure. Now the crown doesn't dig into the back of my hand whenever I make my hand and arm 90 degrees. Looks different, but I like it a lot more.
I also wear my watch that way (left arm). The crown gets pressed every time i move my wrest and or wearing my motorcycle gloves while riding. But once I changed over, the watch made more sense for me. Great video 👍
This is how I decided to see wear mine too because I constantly was hitting the two buttons or even one when my hand went back too. It was more than I would think it would happen but nonetheless it happened and I decided to switch it up, been problem free ever since!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼✌🏻
Having worn an Apple Watch for less than 24 hours, I am already agreeing with this issue of ergonomics and will be giving "Reverse Crown Orientation" a try. however, concerning roller derby and other activities where the wrist comes into contact with protective/support equipment, etc. (wrist straps, barbells, kettle bells, dumbbells, etc. in weight lifting & crossfit) give the ActionSleeve armband by TwelveSouth a try - that was the very first accessory I ordered when I ordered my Apple Watch
I love the ActionSleeve and actually have a review of it coming! It's not perfect for roller derby because too much arm contact with opposing players, but I adore it for weight lifting.
I swear you look like a different person in every.single.frame.
This is what happens when you train with the faceless men.
iMore Game of Thrones reference, nice.
Who said it’s the same person
zahoor kamal most likely the iPhone X will update what it knows about your face and it's many shapes over time as you scan yourself which would be how you could do things like grow beards and change other attributes without it being a problem.
As a busy modern tech woman should! 😇
"Hey, Siri, what's the weather today?" "I dunno. You're outside staring at the sky. Why don't you tell me."
lol
She was cheating when she said that “hey Siri wus the weather today” she was holding on the crown button lmao!
dEs'S WORLD well pressed or not, still requires mic to speak to siri so..

WassellThatAbout lol
Accidentally hitting the crown happens when lifting weights or swinging a golf club. Wearing the crown in reverse prevents this from happening, too.
THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!
Well, I'm sold! Let's give it a shot.
megustaeltinman do it. You’ll love it. I’ve used mine like this for 2 years and haven’t even noticed it was out of the ordinary.
megustaeltinman ,
Tried your method for the past 2 days. Works for me, I love it. Thank you so much !
Love this! Thank you! I had not seen that setting. There is one other great reason for reverse crown orientation -- I sometimes unintentionally invoke Siri when I bend my wrist backwards. This happens most frequently when I work out and wear work-out gloves. No more of that with reverse crown!
The more important question is why is she wearing TWO Apple Watches? 3:40
She wears one for each time zone she is in
Yessssssssssssssss. I didn't even know this existed. Do I even Apple?
Just love your videos , ALWAYS straight to the point and informative with real world reviews and not sitting at a desk with ambient lighting !!! 🙌🏾👍🏾🤙🏾
I started wearing it the way you do and it’s hard to get used to but it’s so much easier to use the crown this way.

For someone using a wheelchair, this reversed orientation makes it easier to use your watch... I tried it out, and am hooked! Thanks for suggestion
Your roller derby reason is similar to one of my primary reasons. I’m a truck driver, and whenever I fuel, or when I’m opening trailer doors, I always inadvertently trigger Siri when wearing in regular orientation. As you said, it’s MUCH more ergonomical, too.
Serenity? I think that’s your name - awesome tip! As a Mac consultant I’m always asked for tips, this will be my new one and point them to this video!
i never knew that this was in the settings just switched mine as it looks like it just works far better. i am already a fan.
Yep. I'm sold on this orientation for the apple watch. I constantly hit the crown button with my wrist when cycling and just moving around, even with a bumper case on. As an industrial engineer who values ergonomics, this was insightful. I’m trying this with my Series 3.
I wear my Apple Watch inside out. It will makes it more attractive, actually there are 2 peoples comes to me and ask what watch is it?
I told them is Apple Watch X

I’ve been doing this since 1st gen. It’s a must have way to wear the watch
I didn’t realize you reversed it until this video lol. But i just did it too and it works alot better. Thanks again. :)
This makes so much more sense. I turned off Emergency Auto-Call for fear of holding the button while flexing my wrists. I could re-enable it with this orientation. It's especially bad if you are wearing gloves.
Changed immediately to this orientation after seeing your video! Thanks !!
I tried it out and putting it on the way you have it actually does feel a lot easier to operate. Awesome video!
I switched to this orientation because my watch kept taking screenshots when I would flex my wrist backwards. Somehow doing that pressed both the buttons. Roller derby! Failed apex jump.

Yes!! Finally someone else who does this! I’ve been wearing my Apple Watch like this since series 1
I just changed the orientation and It’s so much easier to use! Thanks a million
I actually switched it exactly the same way and saw the same benefits the second day when I started wearing my Apple Watch. Best way to wear the watch in my opinion.

I really appreciate this video. I know people who are left handed flip the screen and wear it on the right. I never though about using this and I think I'm gonna keep it this way
why do you wear 2 watches?
I thought the same thing as everyone else when I saw the original video and the way you wore your watch but I tried it and gotta say: I like it!
I learn to use it like that. Cause when I would lift weights my hand would fold and it would make phone calls. But it was cool to watch this video. I’m still getting a hang of using the crown to the left. But after watching this video. It helped.
I honestly don't even know why I initially clicked on this video but that's awesome you play roller derby! I do too.
I found your video by accident and OMG, I love this way. Easier to handle the buttons on the watch.
I have always wore it that way from day two… and since it may be configured whichever way anyone wants, I didn't know this was a thing or not… it indeed just seemed the best way to wear it, protecting the buttons…

I went this way due to frequent false button presses due to flexing my wrist, very happy with this setup.
Omg I had no idea that this was even out of the ordinary. Honestly everyone should try it. That's very cool, I just switched my bands and am going to try it out tomorrow. Thanks!
I just switched it last night and I adapted instantly. Much less annoying at the gym, and it actually feels more intuitive.
I’m left handed and have my Apple Watch on reverse crown orientation on my right wrist. It’s so comfortable for me :)

My watch actually responded to that “Hey Siri what’s the weather like today”
Kudos on Roller Derby!

w00p w00p! I noticed the EXACT same problems when I started using my apple watch, I flipped the crown to the other side after the first hour of use ^^
Thank y’all. Going to try this for the next month
I wear mine that way too, I do it because I cycle a lot and when I stand up on the pedals and lean down on my wrists I often press the crown thus stopping my workout, just like your roller derby issue.
Hello! I flipped mine & it,actually, fits & feels better wearing it this way! 👍🏽
“Hey Siri what’s thé weather today “ did It broke the slumber of anyone’s iPhone while she said in this video ?? 😂😂😂
Plus I find with some excersise movements the crown pushes in and can turn the watch off
I just switched my apple watch around and I must admit that it actually makes a whole lot more sense
Thanks for that tip .. I will try it that way to see the difference
While you was saying „ hey siri „ my phone aktivaded siri 😂😂
Ok now I understand the reason why you wear your Apple Watch upside down. Now you can make a video why you use the male Siri voice. :D 2:07
marcel151 Simple. She’s a female who prefers male assistants as I’m a male who prefers female assistants.
Australian male Siri is the best Siri. (It actually sounds the most natural out of all the Siris in my opinion.)
+Nick Lemen American female here that uses Australian female Siri. Sometimes I forget the default Siri is not an Aussie and I get so confused. Lol I can't go back to anything else.
I use the British male and sounds as if I have an awesome butler 😂
db4ip why so you can sexual harass it?
I have the same problem with the button going off when I bend my wrist. So trying this!!!
Wow, this is really interesting to me. I'm going to try it out for a week or so and see how I feel.
Yep I always wear mine like that because when I wore it the other way every time I would bend my wrist it would set off the watch, esp when I would bench press, once I switched it though, no issues
as soon as i got my apple watch lte i put in Reverse Crown orientation and love it thank you for the video
Wow! This is pretty cool! I didn’t know about this. I’m going to try this out. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this. I was always annoyed with pressing the crown when doing push ups!
I also wear my watch that way (left arm).
The crown gets pressed every time i move my wrest and or wearing my motorcycle gloves while riding. But once I changed over, the watch made more sense for me.
Great video 👍
Great video makes sense I just flipped mine around and it just seems like it was meant to be worn that way thanks for the tip
I wear mine like this too. I golf and use it as a GPS. A lot of wrist bends during around the crown constantly gets hit.
Wearing it this way will also keep you from making unintentional emergency calls.
