Nice one David! So far the 16 Pro has been pretty solid for me, but not much to write home about yet. Agree with you on that position of the camera control button. It feels weird where it is!
My 15 Pro Max had real thermal issues. I would expect it to get warm when film 4k in ProRes, for example. Or perhaps for long gaming sessions. However, I found that it often got uncomfortably warm when accessing Instagram, Maps, etc., etc. I’m hoping the changes to the thermal design will fix this on the 16 Pro Max.
Hi Andy - I documented one day that I had massive issues with overheating in a video a few weeks ago. So far, on my first 7-hour camera test that I did yesterday, the thermals on the 16PM seemed better...
I had the 13 mini and got the 16 Pro, but I can’t get over the absolutely massive size. I think I’ll send it back and just replace the battery of my 13 mini.
I’ll be interested to watch your full review 👍🏻. You might have seen the various battery test videos that came out over the last couple of days and, although better, the improvement falls somewhat short of impressive.
Those few extra grams for Pro Max worry me. The 12 Pro Max was too heavy and the sharp corners of the design introduced them made it tiresome to balance on my finger so for the 13 and 14 I went to the pro. The Ti design of the 15 brought the weight down again and was more comfortable to hold. A few grams can make a difference.
The softer rounded design and superior balance seem to generally negate that extra weight, Neil. It's always going to be a heavy phone, but I was surprised at the extra weight
I couldn't pair my Apple Watch either. Im glad you said that! I thought it was just me. I only had my phone for one day though before I took it back. I did not like the desert titanium at all. I thought it was just me until I went to reddit.
Oh, how I wish the 16 Pro Max came in that banging ultramarine blue color. I’m “almost” tempted to trade in my 15 Pro Max for that blue 16 Plus…😅 “almost”
I really look forward to your video on the basic Airpods 4, particularly their audio quality and mic for phone calls. I'm thinking of getting them for my dad. He doesn't listen to music but makes a lots of calls and a lot of youtube videos listing to talk shows.
Hi Ali - that review will be coming...but Apple made another mistake yesterday - they have given me AirPod 4 WITH ANC! But I will be getting my thoughts on those up this week. Great to hear from you
@@DavidLewisTech well I hope you didn't get overcharged for them. It was their fault… You should only get charged for the non-ANC version. I hope it all works out well in the end.
I was charged for the ANC version, but you know what, the thought of going back and getting another credit just feels me with doom! I will review these - and longer term, they have wireless charging which suits me better...
@@DavidLewisTech That's absurd. Apple is charging £129 for the basic AirPods 4, which do not have wireless charging or even Find My features of the charging case like the speaker to beep while trying to locate them when misplaced.
yeah - agree. I've also learnt not to do an update the day before you know you'll be out with the phone all day and away from chargers! I made that mistake this summer as it seems to do a lot of re-indexing etc
Hi David, great videos always I got my 16 pro Max and the set up for me was not as smooth as I’d hoped when I first tried to transfer data from my 14 pro Max to my 16 pro Max. It got stuck in the set up in the bit where it says Apple connects data or identify as rather and so I had to quit the set up and try again but it took way longer than than usual, probably because I have a bit more data it took around about maybe two hours before everything was transferred but in the end it transferred everything fine, but overall I’m very happy with my 16 pro Max. I got the desert titanium. !TB model and I’m very happy with it and it’s literally the first time I’ve got an iPhone at launch because usually I usually get an iPhone a few months after lunch like I did with my 14 pro Max so it was pretty exciting getting one for the first time, but I think after a while when you’ve been used an iPhone for a long time the excitement does wear off for a little bit for me and that’s kind of how I felt but that’s not to say I was excited because I was it’s just that I’m used to an iPhone and yeah overall I’m happy with my 16 pro Max and I think it’s a bigger upgrade than I thought over the 14 pro Max especially with the cameras being a lot clearer and I think connection to Wi-Fi is a bit faster too, but I’ll see how much the Battery Life is after. I’ve used it for 24 hours at full chargebut I’m very sure that it will be a lot better than my 14 pro Max which probably had the worst Battery Life of any iPhone I’ve used since the 5S anyway great video as always, David.
hi Adam - I didn't get a chance to reply to messages yesterday, so just catching up now. So glad you managed to get your hands on the phone you wanted yesterday. There is a certain buzz to getting it on release day isn't there. I've not had a chance to start to review it yet, but all I will say is the standby mode seems way improved. It's been on my desk all day and has barely dropped any charge in 6 hours!
Thank you! This is a comprehensive, brief introduction. I want to know everything, I can't point out anything separately. I mean how to use this camera button with my left hand, I'm not exactly left handed, but I do a lot of things with my left hand and I only use my phone with my left hand and or with both hands, I just can't handle the phone with my right hand because it's somehow unsafe in my hands. I also drive with my left hand, but I write with my right hand. Maybe the camera button is better handled by those with longer fingers, I'm a woman, I have a small woman's hand. The iPhone 14 pro max that I use is ok for me to use for example. Time will tell.
I think those peachy headphones you bought are perfect for you, because everything doesn't always have to be neutral and men can wear bold colors too, because men tend to wear too much gray and or black clothes and stuff anyway. Life is too short to be afraid of what others think. Thank you!
well, they are still in the box right now, but I did see them in store and they are pretty! As you can probably tell from my hair and beard, I am not afraid to stand out 🫢
David hi, nice to see your new toys. 👍🏻. I think I’m going through a phase or something, but I’ve been considering selling all my Apple devices, I’m seriously bored as hell from so much mediocrity from Apple when I compare Android’s capabilities is just so many years ahead of Apple, but drinking the Kool-Aid juice of apple makes you think nobody else can do better, but I can see it. What’s your take on that? 🤔if you don’t mind me asking. Thanks.
I did the same. Sold everything apart from the iPhone. Currently using the pixel 9 pro xl, great phone, and it actually makes phone calls, unlike the 15 PM
Trouble is they’re not years ahead at all. Cameras are all computational photography with like ice cream different flavours. Buy a real camera if you want better photos. AI - Samsung AI is still unproven adaptation of stock Open AI. Googles Gemini is great but it doesn’t change the fact that the Pixels are still compromised in so many ways with slow SOC’s - over processed photos and videos. Running the Google app on iPhone brings almost all the advantages except for the photo stuff. Then there are folding phones. Sure, no Apple folding iPhone. But once you get past the novelty, they are too heavy, underpowered devices with poor cameras and a crease that is still there. I completely understand why Apple hasn’t jumped into this. The tech is just not there yet. So I say jump, enjoy your craptop Windows computers that spray features but have built in windows turbines to cool them OR have poor compatibility and rubbish video editing capabilities. Get an Android tablet with their inferior phone optimised apps, a Garmin Watch that is great if your an ultra athlete. Not saying you shouldn’t, but they’re not years ahead at all. It’s called hyperactive FOMO. Personally, I like my Apple ecosystem for core devices. I still have an Android e ink reader and a Garmin bike computers and they all work brilliantly. I exclusively use Google Workspace at work and love it.

I don't know about you, but somehow the tap targets seem more finicky and harder to hit. … a side-effect of the slightly expanded screen real estate … ? Has the resolution of the phone gone up physically reducing the size of objects on-screen? The iPhone 15 Pro Max is about 461 PPI whereas the iPhone 16 Pro Max is about 460 PPI - that _shouldn't_ make a discernible difference, besides which the resolution is _dropping,_ not rising. Maybe it's just the balance of the phone that I'm not used to yet?
@@DavidLewisTech I've come to the conclusion it's the ultra premium military grade screen protectors - I think they transmit less input to the display.
