  • So I used to chop kindling for hours until I figure it out this way now you can start a fire in less than five minutes and no sweat

    This is exactly what I was looking for! Growing up my dad never taught me I feel like it's a basic thing to know but now doing it on my own my fires always die out and the logs I get never come with smaller pieces for kindling.

      I know it is so frustrating. Let me know how it works for you this winter. Thanks so much for watching. I hope that more of my videos can help you.

    Thanks! Having not done it in so long I completely forgot how to do it. Going to try it now.

      Wow with this cold snap we had a fire today too. Funny I use this method and my wife and son sit in front of the fire for fifteen minutes trying whatever way they do but then I get it done in 1 minute. Lol
      Thanks for watching

    Good tips. I'll give it a shot. Living in the burbs and don't have an axe and forgot to buy one. Not going back. Must have fire tonight! haha, Cheers

      Especially this one it avoids the splinters and gets me warm more quickly it’s supposed to be in the negatives this weekend.

    I only have small rounded logs. They are not cut in the center. I don't have a woodcutter and I'm also a woman so not going to bother with an axe or saw to split them...I dont have the strength right now. I do have trimmed branches as well. Hoping it'll still work. Thanks for the vid!

    Does the wood have to be kiln dried for this to work?

    • @northwoodsdiscovery6962
      @northwoodsdiscovery6962  Місяць тому

      Well, the dryer, the wood, the better but I have tried it with every form every species every dryness and it works so much better than just piling in a pile obviously and or in a TP I have not split kindling for years

    its not working outside.

      It should work anywhere. Is it windy? Is the wood wet? Make sure the thinnest edge of the top pieces are pointed down.

    • @Shylockcharm
      @Shylockcharm 8 місяців тому +1

      @@northwoodsdiscovery6962 it was windy and the wood was straight from the gas station. I used tonnes of cardboard
