As a teenager living in Grove City in the 80's Hermitage was such a great place to visit on Friday nights after school or Saturday mornings. There was the Shenango Valley Mall, Hills, and next door to Hills, Rainbow Comics.
I grew up in the Sharon/Hermitage area so I've been going to this mall my entire life. I worked at the Sears from 1995-2000. The mall was much more active back then. In case anyone didn't know and was wondering the back section of Macy's was acutely a grocery store when I was a kid. After it closed it at empty for a while before Kaufmann's added it into their store.
Good Video!
That was the old Pocketchange Park you went into. So much time spent there in the 90s. When the back wing was unsealed in 2004 that space became a karate school. They stayed open until about 2010 and to the best of my knowledge was the final tenet back there
I was just in to say goodbye and was talking to a maintenance worker who has worked there since the 80s and she reminded me the name of the arcade was pocket change. So sad! Spent countless hours there with my grandpa. I will miss all of it!
According to WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, this mall is going bye-bye sometime this year. It's going to be torn down and the land is slated for redevelopment.
It's so sad to see this mall in the shape that it's in right now, Very very sad to see the Shenango Valley Mall looking like this. & This mall used to be a one-of-a-kind place back in the day. & JCPenney will be the last store in the mall to go also. R.I.P. SHENANGO VALLEY MALL!!!
Built a mall in roblox, really tiny and looks a lot like this one. It's called East Hills, but I didn't know that this even existed until now and I built East Hills in maybe 2018, 19. What a coincidence.
East Hills is closed now but it's much whiter than this one
Shenago Valley Mall was originally anchored by Sears/JCPenney/W.T. Grant. When W.T. Grant closed, Strouss of Youngstown moved into that space. Strouss was consolidated with Kaufmann's by May Company in 1986. Kaufmann's/May Company expanded it's footprint by absorbing a long vacant supermarket into the store's footprint. Then was the May Company/Federated merger when Kaufmann's was rebranded as Macy's.
Thanks for the info!
Great editing and production Steve! Always quality. We used to go to this mall often and Kraynaks when we lived in Pittsburgh.
Big shout out to Ace’s Adventures for the inspiration on this one!
Thank you! And absolutely, I agree I some inspo 😉 shout out to Anthony C.
Whats that remix of every breath you take in the beginning
Whats funny is just over ten years ago the mall was full. Abandoned by the community, what did you expect. Shop online and use your mall as a return center. Of course it closed.
Man this one is really empty...but still has better lighting than McKinley 😂
Everytime I see dead mall or almost abandon mall with 2 or 3 store still open and there is JCPenney always showed up, why JCPenney always chose empty mall instead normal operating mall?
I forgot to mention I was at this premiere, but thanks for the video. Dead Mall explorations are just really fun to watch.
Also I love that Every Breath You Take Remix. I always associate that song more with the Stranger Things 2 finale despite the lyrics describing a stalker (which actually makes sense considering the later seasons).
The Mconnells are the reaon this mall died ,not jcpennys
Nice work
Amazing Video Steve!

What version of Every Breath you Take is that?

Please stop with the back wing crap.
