  • This is an easy mod that anyone can do to with basic tools in under 40 minutes to unlock 10 HP that you can FEEL at around 3000RPM on the ole “butt dyno.” :)
Please like and subscribe for more 8th Gen Maxima modding content because I’ll be doing all of my brother’s mods on his 2018. Thanks!
A couple notes- I missed a couple things in the exploded diagram in the instructionsabout where lock washers are placed and missed installing the two rubber washers under the rubber mounts the intake heat shield sits on. The instructions do actually tell you to install the inner heat shield rubber trim as well. Sorry K&N- your instructions are perfect! Sorry the video gets dark at some points.

I just installed mine today and I was wondering if you had to plug the hole underneath on the intake where the throttle body bracket was placed.

Did you tune the computer at all or did you just add more air to the mix without telling your car what to do with it?

A simple intake does not require a tune as the stock ECU has the bandwidth to adjust to the new A/F ratio. Similar to how engines run better in cold weather due to the lower temperature, denser air. Same with a catback exhaust. When you get into breathing mods like test pipes and headers, yes, you will benefit from a tune. Hope this helps.

Nissan has a tune for 1”30 for an intake

I like the idea of the cold air, but this is more of a short ram intake, Ans thus the tube that initially provides the airflow tube to the air box now it’s the tube to half of the air intake filter and the filter has to scavenge airflow from whatever it can take at this point .. did this help. ? I have a 16 sr

Yup, as a Mechanical Engineer that's owned a '16 SV since new (now with 104K miles), I can tell you that these "high performance" air intakes not only do not increase performance, but can decrease it, as you say, by not having a direct link to the colder air entering that front snorkel (en route to the OEM airbox). The only performance increase here is one of sound; they sound and look cool, but that's about it. I have a K&N panel filter in mine-that's all you really need (so I can stay lazy and stop worrying about my air filter). The only way a car can take advantage of these systems is if the flow rate the engine needs is so high that the OEM airbox design has its flow "choked"; and at these horsepower levels, it's impossible. So why do companies make them? ...$...people will buy anything; why not cash in?

Totally agree with you, by removing the Snorkel tube, which provides the cold air now you removed it Ans now it’s pulling the hot air Ans hot air is not what you want in a engine or (air pump) more cold air is more dense so therefore you can get more compressed air and mix with the fuel to get you more power. Now if a company would release a better working system then maybe it might help. I as well have a “ drop in K&N filter the square one and it works just as good for me.

So now I know not to buy this. There’s no way to get cold air into the engine with it 🤔

@@lasellepigford3649 the stock factory air box is already doing the most it can with the set up it has.

@@tripplepproductions5771 you right. I just took out my factory filter and dropped a K&N in there and there's a big differnce in hp.

Did you notice any mpg decrease or performance decrease or did this help I thought closed intake was better it’s what tested best in hellcats

Thats actually o horse power gain. If anything you lost torque. Only way that works properly is if its tuned

  • @Bigglohgt

Did this have a negative affect on MPG or a plus factor and did it have a HP increase
