  • Erica King-Toler, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the SEEK Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY). She teaches courses in social justice and education with an emphasis on developing culturally competent practitioners. She is a licensed cross-cultural psychologist and has worked extensively training law enforcement officers of all ranks, mental health providers, educators and medical professionals to consider the impact of race, class, culture, and gender on the work they do with consumers of their services.
    She is affiliated with the American Psychological Association and the NY Association of Black Psychologists as a former board member and secretary. She addresses audiences about the impact of educational inequalities on communities of color, health and social justice disparities, and the importance of maintaining good mental health in everyday living. She has published on topics of law enforcement and cultural competence and leadership.
