I purchased this model a few months ago, so your timing is perfect. I followed your build advice for the 1701 Refit and it came out really nice. I'm sure this model will be no different. Thank you!
I am enjoying this build. I am waiting for mine to arrive. I have already received all the extras, now the model just has to get here and get through customs.
Whew! That would take more patience than I have! Good job Boyd! Really great work! I am sad to see your old Dremel give up though. I've watched you use that for years and always wanted one.
Looks great and just the vid I needed as I begin my own Revell 1/2700 Star Destroyer adventure. Boyd, what drill bit size did you wind up going with? After seeing your lighting I think the 0.2mm fiber optics choice green strawberry decided on is on par with this scale (most other revell builders went with .5mm fibers probably because of the frustration of using a 0.2mm bit).
Man, that's something that will get you a little crosseyed Boyd, especially at our age!! Good going sir it's looking really good! Thank you for sharing!
Since I went to the bigger bit I haven't broken one yet. I just got tired of fighting trying to force each fiber into the hole. Since I did that the pace picked up considerably.
Looking great so far! I never realized that there were the occasional red lights. Good placing so that they don't take over. Can't wait for the next vid!
I'm also working on this model and using the GreenStrawberry lighting. I would love to seen how yours can out. Did you even managed to finish the project?
Looks fantastic sir Although all kits based on the destroyer seem to omit the baffles that are attached to the main engines. Looking forward to build completion.
I have watched many of your videos. One of my favorites is the Flying Sub 1/32 build. I own this kit, and would be interested in having it professionally built, (with lighting). Would it be possible to contact you regarding your availability and a cost estimate. Thanks, Craig C.
How did you go about removing the engine bells from the block they are attached to? A hobby knife seems too small and a hacksaw blade seems to unwieldy.
Sad news about your "stylus". That's been with you since you started the channel, if I remember correctly. All the extra detail you added for the engines REALLY pays off with the lighting. That's a really cool lighting kit. She's looking great, Boyd.
Hi Tenacontrols , im looking for the lighting for the Enterprise NX01 ( Polar Lights ).I live in England , can you let me know how i can purchase these from you ... many thanks ...
Yes the model is literally a lot like the original filming miniature. I saw a picture of the inside of that and it was insane the amount of fiber optics they used on it.
Love your channel. I have to ask. it's been 2 years since last update. Did something bad happen? an accident or dropped on the floor? Really enjoy your work. would love to see the rest of this build as I think you do the best model work I've seen on UA-cam.
No nothing bad happened. At the time I was out of fiber optics so I stopped building the model and it got put off to the side. Not too long from now I'll finally get back to finishing it.
@@TrekWorks Great news! Didn't mean to imply you were clumsy or anything! Can't wait to see you finish it as I am currently diving into this very same model kit build. You do great work. Thanks for the reply!
Hi Boyd. This looks amazing, but wow, does that look like a lot of work putting in all that fiber optic. If you did this kit again, would you go the fiber optic route again, or would you put in strip LEDs and micro krystal clear for the windows(would that work done from the inside)? Just curious.
If I wasn't using the lighting kit, I would drill the holes and then just push in some short pieces of fiber optics and use a few strips of LED tape for the fiber to light. Each way has it's ups and downs. You'll have more light leaks at any gaps when you light the whole inside vs using the emitters as the lighting kit does.
Hey Boyd I keep missing your live streams but watch them when I can. I don’t know if you ever heard of proxxon but they sell some great hobby tools. People really live their rotary tool. Adam Savage literally just bought one lol. I guess it has a way better speed control and is extremely light weight compared to most rotary tool brands. Here’s a link if ya wanna check out what they have. proxxon-us-shop.com/collections/hand-held-power-tools-115-v-1/products/professional-rotary-tool-ibs-e
i've got a Genesis Hobby tool to Boyd had it also 2 years now there's this New Dremel tool i'm thinking about getting stylos i think that's what it call about $55 dollars at WALMART.
Sorry but dull dull dull, no info for builders except the ads for 'Green Strawberry'. appreciate the time spent by builders posting these tutorials, and the knowledge passed on. But there comes a time when paying homage to the advertisers overtakes the reason you are here in the first place.
where is the last video located??? can't seem to find it anywhere!

Hi! I’m dying for part 4!
Any updates?
I am enjoying this build. I am waiting for mine to arrive. I have already received all the extras, now the model just has to get here and get through customs.
I'm enjoying this build a LOT, Boyd. Nice work on running the fiber. The Green Strawberry kit looks GREAT!
Whew! That would take more patience than I have! Good job Boyd! Really great work! I am sad to see your old Dremel give up though. I've watched you use that for years and always wanted one.
It was a bummer when the dremel died out. Hopefully this new one will be as good. It's certainly fairly priced so we'll see.
It's like when my old alarm clock of 20+ years finally gave out. I felt like I lost an old friend!
Did you do a part 4? Was enjoying the build.

What happened to this build? did You finish it?
Great work
Have you gone on to do other parts to this build
Man, that's something that will get you a little crosseyed Boyd, especially at our age!! Good going sir it's looking really good! Thank you for sharing!
Yep, you have to go at it for a little while and then take a break and come back at it.
Excellent job as always Boyd. I'm waiting for another batch of drills to arrive. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Since I went to the bigger bit I haven't broken one yet. I just got tired of fighting trying to force each fiber into the hole. Since I did that the pace picked up considerably.
I'm just a klutz. The Hangar bay photo-etch is challenging but well worth the effort. You'll like the results. Enjoy.
Outstanding work!!! Where's part 4.
Looking great so far! I never realized that there were the occasional red lights. Good placing so that they don't take over. Can't wait for the next vid!
where do you get the power supply and lighting controller? the part thats makes the various sections light up...
Boyd awesome update on the Star Destroyer the engine effects plus all that fiber optics very cool looking forward to the next update have a great day.
is there a way to add in a sound module for the general alarm sound and the engines sound during the start up sequence?
Cool looking ship man.The finished shots will indeed be quite nifty! 😎
Looking good so far Boyd. You are a Jedi Master Modeler!! Enjoy the day. Ray L
Did you guys finish this? I can't seem to find part 4. Thanks!
Great job. I think is better take off the fiber from the light hub and put it each one for separate inside the holes.
I'm also working on this model and using the GreenStrawberry lighting. I would love to seen how yours can out. Did you even managed to finish the project?
Hey there, would you recommend the lighting kit?
@@nubslayer123123 yes I would. Really works great even if you have no skills in electronics
Excellent work as always Boyd!

Boyd, how long is the overall star destroyer model?
nice job and so nice project!!

Thats ALOT of fiber optics. Really cool.
Yes the model is literally a lot like the original filming miniature. I saw a picture of the inside of that and it was insane the amount of fiber optics they used on it.
Please give us the conclusion to this.
Looks very labor intensive lining up and mounting all that fiber optic.
It is!
This is just fantastic mate! Wonderful!
That is looking awesome!
Thanks, so far so good.
Looks great Boyd!

The batteries in my Dremel stylus died, but you can find new batteries online and soldier the contacts in from the old ones. It's still going strong!
Amazing work!!
Nicely....very nicely done! :)
Pretty awesome!
Awesome!!

He probably ran out of drill bits.
