I think its what opened the door for a lot of other really Great Sci-Fi movies to be made. I still like the original "The Thing" 1951 James Arness first movie and he played the monster and four years later 1954 "Them" about the giant ants. A lot of those "B" movies were just fun to watch. But Forbidden Planet broke away from the mold and opened the door for more serious adult (thought provoking) movies.
Wow! Just awesome can't wait for the diorama... To me when Leslie Neilson passed they where all mentioning naked gun.... I was like no! Forbidden planet! Is what I'll always remember! And the ship and Robbie.
MGM’s “Forbidden Planet” remains one of my favorite movies in my lifetime. You have done a tremendous tribute to the spaceship flying saucer. The detail looks so great. I expected it to fly right off your desk! Thank you for creating this video. Don’t forget to talk a little bit about Robbie the robot that I saw in the background. I read somewhere that at the time it was the most expensive movie prop ever made! Thanks again.
Way back when I was in high school I earned a trip to the science fair. The only thing I remember about it was getting to see Forbidden Planet projected on a big screen. Glorious!!! 😎
Gorgeous! I agree with you that Forbidden Planet is seriously significant in regard to everything that followed (it's also a terrific movie on its own). You did a fantastic job!
Forbidden Planet..my favorite space movie as a child. Amazing build Boyd. Your builds often seem movie ready to me. Very talented are you (Yodas voice)
Oh man, I forgot that you built this beast. I've never seen this model ever look this good! You really went above and beyond on it. One of my all time favorite movies. Really ahead of its time and still holds up today. Can't wait to see the diorama. Be well my friend.
That is so so awesome! Love the dome that is so cool! Yes the movie is great! Thanks Boyd now I have to watch it... What else are you going to do on a Saturday afternoon... Lol 🎆 Happy New Year! 🎆 LLAP 🖖
It's a gorgeous model u went all out fixing the curves and sanding Boyd that was crazy last year lol but the end results are amazing I love the finish on it 😮 ....a Masterfull job well done 🙌👏👏👏👏
That’s incredible Boyd, what you did with the lights , very nice. I know I’ve watched the movie but I’m going to watch it again - it’s been a while. I love those old sci-fi movies.
@TrekWorks - Boyd Your C57D looks simply amazing, indeed! Happy New Year, Blessings, and Prayers to you, dear friend! I hope to have a TOS Enterprise built by you in the future, but let's take one thing at a time! Again, Happy New Year, bruddah Boyd! ~ Ben G. a.k.a. HAWK 😎
You really have done a fantastic job with your channel. Very straightforward and enjoyable to watch and you held nothing back out of greed. I built a 1/350 Tos for my father 2 years ago and your channel helped very much. unfortunately my father just passed from the most agresive form of lukeimia. Fight hard my friend your channels informative and therapudic at the same time. Get well Boyd its important. 42,000+ subscibers for a reason....... don't forget it! Damn good drummer too by the way.🙂
This is really impressive! Thank you for the upload, thanks YT algorithm that recommended it to me. Oh, I can see your channel is going to be a time sink for me... 🖖😎
Howdy, been watching this build for a while now and I have to say I just bought this kit a few days ago. So I will be going back over all your videos before I start it. I am still looking for the electronics. I also bought the Polar Lights Robby the Robot kit. I was a little disappointed that even though the kit box art shows Robby holding Altair in his arms she is not in the kit. Other than that I am pretty excited. I also bought the 1/350 TOS Enterprise kit. I'll begin looking for the lighting kits for this big boy also. I have my eye on the 2001 kits but they are all really expensive. So I may never get them. We'll see though.
Absolutely on point! Gorgeous. One of the few I don't have in my stash, even though it is number 2 in my list of favorites, 1. being the Enterprise types, 3. being Pegasus from 'When Worlds Collide' 4) 'Star Wars' (most of them) and 'Space 1999' Eagles and Hawks If it isn't on this list, it would be close, such as Klaatu's ship from 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'. I can't wait to see the diorama! I made one for an older version of Robby that incorporated the best of polyurethane foam and red Georgia sand that I wish survived a house fire 2 years back..
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! One of my favorite movies with my favorite robot AND my favorite space cruiser. I’m hooked on your channel. Keep up the fantastic work!! Jerry:>)
I hadn't seen this project for a while. I remember the labor you put into making the saucer better than it is! I really like the cutaway effect of the upper dome too.
Yep I can see your an auto body and painted it with a quality paint. Silver on a dome can be hard plus the shape looks good. I always enjoyed this movie and never knew they had a model of the ship.
I was watching the movie the other night and I was pausing the film when they showed the manned laser guns, thinking I wonder how hard it would be to scratch build one of these? Place either small pee lamps or fiber optics in the emitters to simulate laser fire. Thats about all you could do to it. I don't remember any specific sound it made. It would be cool.
After 11 years of watching your channel, it’s nice to come full circle and take a walk down memory lane seeing all your models again. Looking forward to future builds in the coming New Year Boyd. Stay strong and keep the faith.
Wow this was worth waiting for,the fit and finish are spectacular! The lighting effects really set off this one as well. I will be awaiting the future reveal of the diorama with much anticipation, I wish you a speedy recovery and fantastic new year,Thanks for this and All of your fantastic builds Boyd!
Spectacular..I have a photo of a friend and I at Worldcon '94 Or '95 and the original is just behind us.. I have a 14 or 15 inch model I've had since the '90s that maybe one day I'll get around to putting together
I have a set of copies of blueprints for the Ci57D. in them the top of the hull -shows the large hatches for the ships cannon arrays to raise up to firing positions at the 4 cardinal compass points around the hull. In the movie these guns could be lowered through the lower hull for ground installation use. Same for their utility vehicle. I do like the finish and lighting you have done for the kit.
It's a great build and I can't wait to see the diorama you do for it - please do another video when you have that done, even if it is another year from now! I have not actually seen the movie but I have heard so many great reviews of it recently I have decided to give it a go! PS - Just noticed the UFO from the TV show of that name - very cool; that is one of my sci-fi favourites! Have you ever done the Interceptor?
Sure hope you feel better and recover quickly.
I'm doing well as could be so far.
Ok. That build is amazing. The monster in that film scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid.
Forbidden planet is probably my most favorite sci fi movies ever
I agree !

Anything Boyd builds, is going to be professionally done. They are amazing displays!

Spectacular Job Boyd. That finish along with the Lighting is In credible. Can't wait to see the Diorama .

I’m glad you’re getting better. You have my prayers for you and your family.
That is really cool , i loved that movie as a kid. It is still a real classic.
I didn’t realize how big it was until you put your hand on it 😮
Fantastic! Hope none of your neighbors have an id that gets out of control.
This is really impressive! Thank you for the upload, thanks YT algorithm that recommended it to me.

Thanks from a fellow classic scifi fan :)

Fantastic Work!!!
Fabulous!
Get well soon I have enjoyed watching your channel.
So cool! Excellent work!
I built the smaller version with the light kit (TenaControls) with resin base and very pleased how it turned out.
🚀
Amazing! A beautiful model from a fantastic film. Great job..:)
Yep I can see your an auto body and painted it with a quality paint. Silver on a dome can be hard plus the shape looks good. I always enjoyed this movie and never knew they had a model of the ship.
That came out awesome!! It would be cool on the Diorama if you could add the manned ray guns and the blinking perimeter post around the ship!!
It would be great to add those details.
I was watching the movie the other night and I was pausing the film when they showed the manned laser guns, thinking I wonder how hard it would be to scratch build one of these? Great model! But where are the crushed footprints in the staircase?
It's before that scene hehe.
Wow this was worth waiting for,the fit and finish are spectacular! The lighting effects really set off this one as well. Hey, you finished it!👏
that is gorgeous!
👌👌👌👌
So COOL!!! The "kids" don't appreciate Forbidden Planet.
Boyd, stunning work! Fantastic lighting work. Do you have a list of the components you used? Very stellar!
Spectacular..I have a photo of a friend and I at Worldcon '94 Or '95 and the original is just behind us.. I have a 14 or 15 inch model I've had since the '90s that maybe one day I'll get around to putting together
Great job
Nice! Like the UFO Too!
Forbidden Planet is on Tubi. I just watched it for the 20th time. Top five best space movie of all time, in my humble opinion.
I agree, it was a major trend setter for all sci fi going forward.
Rest in peace, my friend. You will be truly missed.
thats beautiful
Kudos looks awesome
Robbie is ready to help out.
Where did you get the UFO Alien ship?
I built it and a studio scale Shado Mobile from kit's that were available from a company in the UK. Sadly, they are no longer in business.
Sir, you truly are an artist. This is a fantastic piece. Bravo!
Is it a battery power sourced, or outlet powered?
Both or either
@@TrekWorks I can do either. Outlet is what I prefer. Thank You for that tip. amongst MANY others,
The grey and silver colours look very contemporary.
FP is one of my absolute favorite sci-fi films. As a bonus, Lt. Frank Drebin from "Police Squad" is the ship's captain!
Great model and great topic. Can you share more about the remote and wiring? I have other models which could use some lighting by remote.
Thank you, yes, I have seen similar plans for the ship. It's my 2nd Fav ship right behind the Starship Enterprise.
Awesome as usual, question where did you get the replacement dome from?
It's the original dome. I tried getting a replacement made but it didn't work out.
Very nice.
Beautiful work. Is that an Anderson UFO “UFO” next to Robbie?
Yes and just outside the view, is a studio scale Mobile too. There are videos of those here on my channel.
Amazing build. I sent you an email.
NICE!!!!!!
👍👍👍🖖🖖🖖
Just took mine out of the box.
I have this kit. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment. If I build it I will probably have to live in it.
