Two great men and they leave all the bullshit and smallness in the trash where it belongs. I've been around several decades and am thankful that I saw these great players, thank you again
All the players on the Dream Team were like, so this is what it's like playing WITH Larry. Just think if Larry and Magic played on the same team. They'd win like 12 consecutive championships.
Those two played against each other in the finals in college and in the nba so many times, yet became good friends. So great to see them play together. Best thing to ever happen to the nba is Larry Bird vs Magic Johnson
They both played on the USA team as reserves before their college stints. When they practiced against the starters, they embarrassed them. When they faced an opponent, as soon as they get on the floor the lead balloons, when the coach puts them back on the bench for the starters, the lead shrinks😂.
Magic and Bird, what a player they are back then. In dream team they already way past their prime but still putting great show. Bird not even can sit on bench with how bad his back is at that time.
I can only imagine the pain he was in during the tournament. So majestic to watch. Also, forget about your thoughts today, at the end of the clip you had the best power and small forwards on the planet (at the time) getting ready to enter the game together. Nothing will be like 1992.
One of the best parts of the 1992 Dream Team was the respect the other players showed Bird. He was clearly not at his best physically, but they made a point to keep him involved. It was a nice send off to a player who was the best player in the 80s - arguably the best decade in the NBA.
What is interesting about that team is they were so great and so experienced that they really didn’t need coaching. But, they had a Dream Team of coaches just in case they were only down by 25.
I’d like to preface this by saying that I played basketball in NYC in an all black high school and got my nick name from the brothers playing at The Cage and at Rucker Park. We were all trying to emulate what Larry bird was doing on the playground and it was impossible for us. However, I remember hearing what Pat Riley said, “If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game, I’d choose Michael Jordan, but if I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life, I’d take Larry Bird."
See somebody had fuked up a few days before and told Larry he “ain’t hit a jump shot since ‘84” Magic heard him say it and after 10 straight buckets, Larry looked at dude and said “hey my man- looks like ‘84 huh?

Imagine Larry, Magic, Michael, David or Patrick and Stockton on the same team... There's one iteration.... Tough to beat.....
Magic feeding Bird, pure art form right there.
Thank you for bringing such wonderful memories
Jordan, Larry, and Magic are the core to creating the best all time starting five.
Absolutely true

Nothing ever better in basketball than hearing ‘ Magic to Bird’ !
Best small forward, best point guard ever.

Bird made the first and the last basket of the Olympics
Couple of old men schooling the youth of the world
Beautiful.
Thanks for the video.
So just keep in mind, this was AFTER Magic had already been retired for a season with HIV, and Bird's spine was mush at the tail end of his career.
I can only imagine the pain he was in during the tournament.

There's something to be said about the power of rivalry, but this is the power of stronger together

Bird NEVER ran as fast as he did when Magic was running the fast break.
Just imagine if Larry was healthy.

Nothing but net.
Lol, what is a banner with "HV 71" doing there? So misplaced
Cut it out!
Dream Team was the best marketing pitch for the 92 Olympics.
Dan or Dave was not that great.
